2. Patan Patola Heritage
The Sanskrit word tapasya, which roughly translates into penance of visceral intensity and frit through years (decades, even centuries) of meditation, may describe the karmic reality of Patan’s Salvi family .We belong to a community of double Ikat weavers. After 15 years of methodical planning on real estate, finance and architecture, and 300 years after our ancestors began to informally document details of the complex weaving technique of Patola weaving, we opened the doors to a private museum in our hometown Patan in north Gujarat in September 2014. This is a vibrant example of seemingly impossible dreams coming true, exemplified by the gleam in the eyes of the youngest weavers in the family- Savan and Rahul Salvi- and our proud uncles, Bharat and Rohit Salvi. Called the Patan Patola Heritage with a board outside including the names of the family’s National Award winners, like Rahul’s late father Vinayak Kantilal Salvi, this is the only such Patola museum in the world.

3. Sahastralinga Talav
Situated in the north west of Patan, this is an artificial water storage tank constructed by the Chalukyan king Sidharaj Jai Singh in the late eleventh century. The tank gets water supply by a channel from river Sarasvati. Back then the tank would be brimming with water, the architectural design of the tank is praised for being the perfect amalgamation of design for water conservation and also reflection of the Hindu spirituality. It is said that due a curse by a beautiful woman from the tank diggers community, the king died without a heir and the tank remains devoid of water ever since. It is said that there existed a lot of shrines dedicated to various gods and goddesses by the side of the tank, today however, there are just remains. When you visitt he place, make sure you read the tourism boards and listen to the version of the locals to know about the stories which do the round about this place.

Rani ki vav is an intricately constructed stepwell situated in the town of Patan in Gujarat, India.
It is located on the banks of Saraswati River.
Rani ki vav was built as a memorial to an 11th century AD king Bhimdev I.
It was added to the list of UNESCO's World Heritage Sites on 22 June 2014.
Stepwells are a distinctive form of subterranean water resource and storage systems on the Indian subcontinent, and have been constructed since the third millennium BC.
Rani ki vav was built in the complex Maru-Gurjara architectural style with an inverted temple and seven levels of stairs and holds more than 500 principal sculptures.
Rani ki vav was constructed during the rule of the Chaulukya dynasty.
The stepwell was later flooded by the nearby Saraswati River and silted over until the late 1980s.
When it was excavated by the Archaeological Survey of India, the carvings were found in pristine condition.
This magnificent east-facing step well measures approximately 64 metres long, 20 metres wide and 27 metres deep.
A stepped corridor compartmented at regular intervals pillared multistory pavilions is a unique feature.
It was one of the largest and the most sumptuous structures of its type.
It became silted up and much of it is not visible now, except for some rows of sculptured panels in the circular part of the well.
Among its ruins one pillar still stands which is an excellent example of this period of design.
A part only of the west well is extant from which it appears that the wall had been built of brick and faced with stone.
From this wall project vertical brackets in pairs, which supported the different galleries of the well shaft proper.
The bracketing is arranged in tiers and is richly carved.
The minute and exquisite carving of this vav is one of the finest specimens of its kind.
Befitting its name, the Rani-Ki-Vav is now considered to be the queen among step wells of India.
There is also a small gate below the last step of the step well, with a 30 kilometre tunnel, currently blocked by stones and mud, which leads to the town of Sidhpur near Patan.
It was used as an escape gateway for the king, who built the step well in the times of defeat.

Hey guys, there is a mysterious ancient structure in Gujarat. What is it? Archeologists and historians tell us a standard story: This is called Rani Ki Vav, it is a step well, built for the locals, so the locals can get down these steps and draw water from this well. But you are about to learn that this is not a step well, but it was built for a completely different reason.
What you are looking at is one of its kind. It is an inverted, negative, temple. Some fancy words, you may think.
A typical Hindu temple starts with ground level, has some steps going up to increase its height or altitude gradually. Finally, at the tower area, starts with a large base, and then ends up have a pointy end at the top, right? Now, Rani Ki Vav is designed exactly the opposite way, it starts with the ground level, slowly starts to decrease its altitude, you gradually go down, and at this area, it starts with a larger top, but ends up having a pointy end at the very bottom.
Maybe I can do better, so here, we are making a model of Rani Ki Vav, imagine this foam is the piece of land, and I am starting to carve the steps here, and then there is a flat area here, and then I carve more steps, then a flat area, and so on. And at the far end, I have made a deep, so called “well” which gradually reduces in its radius towards the bottom. If you look at this model, it looks very much like Rani Ki Vav. But in order to see the negative temple, we have to fill up the empty space, and see what happens.
So, I have taken some plaster of paris, and I am going to fill up the empty space. I am filling up everything and kind of levelling up at the ground level. The plaster of paris is, now, slowly solidifying inside the empty space. In a few minutes, it completely solidifies. Now, remember, I told you it is an inverted negative temple. So, I have to invert this model. Now let me cut off the foam, and see how the solidified empty space looks. The foam represents the positive material and I am slowly, slowly removing it. As I am doing it, you can start to understand that it looks very much like a Hindu temple. Let me clean up the foam sticking on it, and you can see for yourself. This is not just looking similar to an ancient temple; it is looking identical to a typical ancient temple. I have just proved my theory that Rani Ki Vav is not a step well, but an inverted negative temple. If you go to most ancient temples, you will see steps rising in altitude, then there will be a small shrine called a mandapa, then there will be more steps, leading to more mandapas, and at the far end, you will see a giant tower with a pointed top.
This is exactly what we see here. If we exclude the minor details, and look at the macro model, there is no doubt that it was built as a negative, inverted temple and no other temple has ever been built like this, not only in India, but in the whole world. So, what we are looking at is actually a wonder of the world. No one has understood that this is such a temple in the last few centuries, I think I am the first one to understand this.
How did I realize it was a Negative temple? I visit hundreds of ancient sites, and the energy and vibration in every place is usually very positive and peaceful. However, our entire team became very negative as we entered this site. They felt anger and sorrow, they blamed it on the weather and other things but I could feel the negativity get more and more intense as I went deeper and deeper into the structure. This is the exact opposite of what happens when you visit a positive temple. Typically, in a Hindu temple, as you walk towards the main chamber your positivity increases and you reach a calm, joyful state when you are in the main chamber. You can easily dismiss this as pseudoscience but we have all had at least one instance where we met a negative person, but we did not trust our instinct and paid for it.

Rani Ki Vav (lit. 'The Queen's Stepwell') is a well known stepwell located in the Patan town in Gujarat state of India. It is situated on the banks of Saraswati river. Its construction is attributed to queen Udayamati, who was the daughter of Khengara of Saurashtra, and she was the spouse of the 11th-century Chaulukya king Bhima I. This stepwell was rediscovered in 1940s and was actually restored in 1980s by the ASI(Archaeological Survey of India). It is known to be one of the UNESCO's World Heritage Sites since 2014.

Rani ki Vav is also known to be one of finest and the largest examples of its kind and is designed as an inverted temple that highlights the sanctity of water, the stepwell made in seven levels of stairs with around 1500 sculptures in it; out of which 500 principal sculptures of Bhagwan Vishnu are there and more than 1000 minor ones combine religious and Legendary imagery.

Rani ki Vav History in English:

Rani ki vav was built during Chaulukya dynasty's rule. Prabandha-Chintamani, which was composed by the Jain monk Merutunga in the year 1304, mentions: Udayamati, the daughter of Naravaraha Khengara, built this novel stepwell at Shripattana (Patan) surpassing the glory of the Sahastralinga Tank. According to this composition, the stepwell was commissioned in the year 1063 and was fully finished after 20 years. It is usually assumed that this stepwell was built in the memory of Bhima I (r. c. 1022 – 1064) by his queen Udayamati and was also completed by Udayamati and Karna after Bhima's death. Commissariat puts the date of construction of this stepwell to 1032 based on the architectural similarity to Vimalavasahi temple which was built in Mount Abu in the same year.

The stepwell flooded at a later stage by the Saraswati river and silted over. In 1890s, Henry Cousens and James Burgess visited the stepwell when it was completely buried under the earth and a few well shaft and pillars were slightly visible. They said that it as being a huge pit around 87 metres (285 ft). In Travels in Western India, James Tod told that the material from the stepwell was actually reused in one of the other stepwell which was built in modern Patan, probably Trikam Barot ni Vav (Bahadur Singh stepwell). In the 1940s, excavations which were carried out under the Baroda State revealed the Rani ki Vav. In the year 1986, a major excavation and restoration was done at this site by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI). An image of queen Udayamati was also recovered during the excavation process. The restoration at Rani ki Vav was carried out from the year 1981 to 1987.

Rani ki vav was declared a Monument of National Importance and protected by the ASI and it added to the list of UNESCO's World Heritage Sites on 22 June 2014. It was also named as India's Cleanest Iconic Place at the 2016 Indian Sanitation Conference.

Patan Patola Manufacturing From Gujarat ।। Buy Original Patola & History

about patan patola:
Padi Patole bhaat, phate pan fitey nahin’. As per this famous Gujarati saying patola cloth may tear, but the design and colour never fades. It aptly describes the true nature of the 11-century craft of ‘patola’ – a double-ikat woven sari usually made from silk in Gujarat’s Patan town.

The process of double ikat develops a design on the warp (vertical) and weft (horizontal) sides, thus locking the colours in a way that they never wane.

The word patola derives from the Sanskrit word ‘pattakulla’, which means a silk fabric. Though patola has strong connections with Gujarat, the earliest mentions can be found in South India as per the religious text, Narasimha Purana. It mentions women wore it for holy ceremonies.

Did ancient MEN REALLY do this? Strangest Secrets of Rani Ki Vav!

Rani Ki Vav, an inverted temple, holds many secrets within, and has strange carvings. Did Ancient Indians use Flashlight? Did they use angle grinders and electric power? Did they use the Pinard Horn to confirm pregnancy? Did Ancient builders use a forbidden power source like the arc reactor?

Hey guys, you can see this ancient carving of a beautiful woman, but there is something strange about her, right?
She is carved with full, puffed-up breasts, and she doesn’t have a flat stomach, unlike most other carvings. Why? Because she is pregnant, that’s why. And look below, this guy is holding up a cylindrical device, ready to press it on her belly, because he wants to listen to the heart rate of the baby inside her belly. But is it really possible to hear the heartbeat of an unborn baby without using ultrasound technology?
Believe it or not we use the same technology today, many doctors and midwives use a device called a Pinard horn instead of an ultrasound device. A lot of doctors use this device on pregnant women, and some even claim, that it is easier and better than advanced ultrasound devices. If you think about it, many of the fancy electronic and computerized machines we have today, were simple devices operating on basic principles of physics. But this carving changes history, because we think that the Pinard horn was invented by Dr. Pinard in 1895, that’s about 125 years ago. But this carving is found in an inverted negative temple called Rani Ki Vav in India, and it was carved at least 1000 years ago. So, you can see ancient Indians were using such devices more than a thousand years ago. And I am going to show you more evidence of advanced technology from the same temple.
Here we can see a male figure with a variety of tools. But you see the problem here? He is holding a flashlight or an electric torch, just like what we use today. I mean look at the similarity, a typical flashlight has a broad bulb on one end and a long slender cylinder with buttons on the other end, and that is exactly what we see today. And look at his fingers, it is almost like he is pressing a button and turning it on. Is it a flashlight?
According to historians the flash light was invented by David Misell just 130 years ago. But we find it in this 1000-year-old temple, that is why I keep saying Rani Ki Vav is a very mysterious place, perhaps the most mysterious temple in the world. May be this device explains how ancient sculptors could carve in deep dark chambers, where there is no possibility of getting sunlight. We always find fantastic and impossible carvings in dark chambers and wonder how the sculptors carved them. If they used torches with actual fire, the walls and ceiling should have traces of carbon because of soot, but ancient Hindu temples show no trace of that. Were they using flashlight like devices in ancient times? Was this how they were able to assemble and fit blocks perfectly, even in pitch black areas of the temple?
