Muranga Town, The Cleanest Town in Central Kenya

Murang'a is a town in Murang'a County of Kenya. Before the independence of Kenya in 1963, this town used to be called Fort Hall. It is the administrative centre of Murang'a County and is mainly inhabited by the Kikuyu community. According to the 1999 census, the town has a population of about 11,021.

The town is low, a bit hilly, small but picturesque with an altitude of 4120 ft (1255 metres) above sea level. As a result of the varying altitudes, Murang'a can get quite cold from May to Mid-August, and can experience hail. To the west of the town can be seen the rolling Kikuyu farmlands that extend as far as the eyes can see.

Murang'a is a fast-growing town that attracts traders and farmers from the neighbouring districts. It has banks, petrol stations, a post office, lodges, nightclubs playing the latest local and Western music, restaurants serving local and exotic dishes, supermarkets, dry cleaners, and lively marketplaces. It has also a relatively busy bus and matatu transportation terminal. A district general hospital is located in the northern corner of the town. The town is accessible from Nairobi by Thika-Murang'a road and from Nyeri.

History
When missionaries first came to Kenya, they found the Coast Region already inhabited by Portuguese, who had taken the coast, strategic for trade, from Arab powers in the 16th century. The missionaries ventured into Kenya's rugged interior and Murang'a was one of the first places they settled.

When the British set up the East African Protectorate in 1895, their first administrative post (Fort Smith) was located in Murang'a.

One of the main highlights of Murang'a's history, however, is the Mau Mau uprising that was led by the Agikuyu community who consider Murang'a their ancestral origin. Murang'a is thus considered, at least by some, the birthplace of the Kenyan independence movement.

Missionaries had initially been welcomed by Karuri Wagakure who was the chief of Tuthu. They set up the first mission church in Kenya at Murang'a.

Murang'a is also the source of Rivers Maragua, which originates from the heart of the Aberdare Range, Mathioya, Kayahwe, Irati and Muriurio among others.

Additionally, Murang'a is known for its fertile farming soil and good climate. Food crops such as maize, beans, sweet potatoes, arrow roots, pumpkins and bananas are grown in the region.

Tea and coffee are the County's main cash crops

map of Kenya [ ramani ya Kenya ]

Kenya, officially the Republic of Kenya (Swahili: Jamhuri ya Kenya), is a country in Eastern Africa. At 580,367 square kilometres (224,081 sq mi), Kenya is the world's 48th largest country by area. With a population of more than 47.6 million in the 2019 census, Kenya is the 29th most populous country. Kenya's capital and largest city is Nairobi, while its oldest city and first capital is the coastal city of Mombasa. Kisumu City is the third-largest city and also an inland port on Lake Victoria. Other important urban centres include Nakuru and Eldoret. As of 2020, Kenya is the third-largest economy in sub-Saharan Africa after Nigeria and South Africa. Kenya is bordered by South Sudan to the northwest, Ethiopia to the north, Somalia to the east, Uganda to the west, Tanzania to the south, and the Indian Ocean to the southeast. Its geography, climate and population vary widely, ranging from cold snow-capped mountaintops (Batian, Nelion and Point Lenana on Mount Kenya) with vast surrounding forests, wildlife and fertile agricultural regions to temperate climates in western and rift valley counties and dry less fertile arid and semi-arid areas and absolute deserts (Chalbi Desert and Nyiri Desert).

Kenya's earliest inhabitants were hunter-gatherers, like the present-day Hadza people. According to archaeological dating of associated artifacts and skeletal material, Cushitic speakers first settled in Kenya's lowlands between 3,200 and 1,300 BC, a phase known as the Lowland Savanna Pastoral Neolithic. Nilotic-speaking pastoralists (ancestral to Kenya's Nilotic speakers) began migrating from present-day South Sudan into Kenya around 500 BC. Bantu people settled at the coast and the interior between 250 BC and 500 AD. European contact began in 1500 AD with the Portuguese Empire, and effective colonisation of Kenya began in the 19th century during the European exploration of the interior. Modern-day Kenya emerged from a protectorate established by the British Empire in 1895 and the subsequent Kenya Colony, which began in 1920. Numerous disputes between the UK and the colony led to the Mau Mau revolution, which began in 1952, and the declaration of independence in 1963. After independence, Kenya remained a member of the Commonwealth of Nations. The current constitution was adopted in 2010 to replace the 1963 independence constitution.

Kenya is a presidential representative democratic republic, in which elected officials represent the people and the president is the head of state and government. Kenya is a member of the United Nations, Commonwealth of Nations, World Bank, International Monetary Fund, COMESA, International Criminal Court, and other international organisations. With a GNI of 1,460, Kenya is a lower-middle-income economy. Kenya's economy is the largest in eastern and central Africa, with Nairobi serving as a major regional commercial hub. Agriculture is the largest sector: tea and coffee are traditional cash crops, while fresh flowers are a fast-growing export. The service industry is also a major economic driver, particularly tourism. Kenya is a member of the East African Community trade bloc, though some international trade organisations categorise it as part of the Greater Horn of Africa. How Nairobi City Has Become Too Beautiful In 2022 ,Drive Along The streets.

#nairobi #nairobivlog #kenya
Nairobi (/naɪˈroʊbi/ ny-ROH-bee) is the capital and largest city of Kenya. The name is derived from the Maasai phrase Enkare Nairobi, which translates to place of cool waters, a reference to the Nairobi River which flows through the city. The city proper had a population of 4,397,073 in the 2019 census,[7] while the metropolitan area has a projected population in 2022 of 10.8 million.[8] The city is commonly referred to as the Green City in the Sun

Nairobi was founded in 1899 by colonial authorities in British East Africa, as a rail depot on the Uganda - Kenya Railway.[10] The town quickly grew to replace Mombasa as the capital of Kenya in 1907.[11] After independence in 1963, Nairobi became the capital of the Republic of Kenya.[12] During Kenya's colonial period, the city became a centre for the colony's coffee, tea and sisal industry.[13][14] The city lies in the south central part of Kenya, at an elevation of 1,795 metres (5,889 ft).

Nairobi is home of the Kenyan Parliament Buildings and hosts thousands of Kenyan businesses and over 1000 major international companies and organizations, including the United Nations Environment Programme (UN Environment) and the United Nations Office at Nairobi (UNON). Nairobi is an established hub for business and culture. The Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE) is one of the largest in Africa and the second-oldest exchange on the continent. It is Africa's fourth-largest exchange in terms of trading volume, capable of making 10 million trades a day. It also contains the Nairobi National Park. Nairobi joined the UNESCO Global Network of Learning Cities in 2010.

Nairobi is home to the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE), one of Africa's largest stock exchanges. The NSE was officially recognised as an overseas stock exchange by the London Stock Exchange in 1953. The exchange is Africa's fourth largest in terms of trading volumes, and fifth largest in terms of Market Capitalization as a percentage of GDP.[63]

Nairobi is the regional headquarters of several international companies and organisations. In 2007, General Electric, Young & Rubicam, Google, Coca-Cola, IBM Services, and Cisco Systems relocated their African headquarters to the city.[64][65] The United Nations Office at Nairobi hosts UN Environment and UN-Habitat headquarters.

Several of Africa's largest companies are headquartered in Nairobi. Safaricom, the largest company in Kenya by assets and profitability is headquartered in Nairobi, KenGen, which is the largest African stock outside South Africa,[66] is based in the city. Kenya Airways, Africa's fourth largest airline, uses Nairobi's Jomo Kenyatta International Airport as a hub.

Nairobi has not been left behind by the FinTech phenomenon that has taken over worldwide. It has produced a couple of tech firms like Craft Silicon,[67] Kangai Technologies,[68] Jambo Pay[69] and Hostraha Limited. which have been in the forefront of technology,[70] innovation and cloud based computing services. Their products are widely used and have considerable market share presence within Kenya and outside its borders.[71]

Goods manufactured in Nairobi include clothing, textiles, building materials, processed foods, beverages, and cigarettes.[72][73] Several foreign companies have factories based in and around the city. These include Goodyear, General Motors, Toyota Motors, and Coca-Cola.[citation needed]

Nairobi has a large tourist industry, being both a tourist destination and a transport hub.[74]

Nairobi is found within the Greater Nairobi Metropolitan region, which consists of 5 out of 47 counties in Kenya, which generate about 40% of the entire nation's GDP as per 2022 data by the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics.[130][131] Nairobi County on its own contributes to 27.5% of the country's GDP according to the same report while Kiambu county comes second with 5.9%. The counties are:

TIGONI WATERFALLS DAY HIKE

#tigoniwaterfalls #Waterfallsinn #Tigonidayhike
Kenya is renowned for the export of quality products among them tea, coffee, cut flowers, nuts vegetables, fruits, meat, and leather products. Visitors to Kenya have a chance to visit farms and see firsthand where the tea, coffee, and flowers they love come from. One of the best places to gain firsthand experience with tea is Tigoni.

Tigoni is a small town in Limuru within Kiambu county, 30kms from Nairobi city. the town is an ancient one developed by white farmers who resided in Limuru during colonial times in Kenya. This trip will take you to a great spot for a chilled-out picnic site, for a trek or hangout, waterfall chase & tea zones trek in a peaceful rustic paradise, Twin Waterfalls Tigoni, Limuru.
The tea plantations here create beautiful vistas of rolling green hills of tea, each one interlaced with lines of tea pickers winding through the bushes.
From this paradise you will enjoy spectacular scenery and an awesome view of Nairobi city. this is a very beautiful place! with a small but very clean waterfall. worth the visit if you just want to be out of the noise and enjoy your time. after the hike, we can drive to dams in the Tigoni area and open market that sells local products if the dates match the market days

TIGONI & HISTORY
A small historical fact, the Maumau war was started due to the land policy in Tigoni. So Tigoni is mainly owned by white families who benefited from the colonial land policy. It was the catalyst for the Maumau war. In the forties, the original land owners were expelled and moved to a drier poor area called Lari to create a village for white military officers. The chief, Luka wa Karuri, took most land in the new town for himself and his family. So in October, the Mau mau had their first attack supported by the local population, known as the Lari massacre, where the chief and family were killed. The colonial government then declared a state of emergency.

THE ONLY NATURE PARK IN THIKA / QUARANTINE WITH ME

Thika town is one of the busiest and industrious town in Central Kenya. The older generation here has amassed most of the wealth while the youth try and find new innovative ways to stay afloat.

Thika is a 24hr economy town but that does not mean that you can't experience fun! It houses a tiny park at the Blue Post Hotel offering a wide range of animals as well as promoting cultural heritage. The Blue Post Hotel was started in 1908 and is located at the periphery of Murang'a County, on its border with Kiambu County.
