Today’s Iran is a complicated, intriguing, but also a fascinating place, with some of the most welcoming and curious people you will ever meet. I traveled through Iran in 2013, and in this video I take you back to 10 favorite places that I visited.

Here’s a brief overview of the content in this video:
We start this journey in Esfahan, one of Iran’s most beautiful and friendliest cities, attracting tourists and travelers from afar. It is filled with captivating monuments, historic buildings, tranquil gardens, museums, and in general provides a great introduction to daily life in Iran.
After Esfahan, we travel to Kerman, a city on the fringes of the desert. It is most popular for what lies outside the city, the remains of the ‘Arg’ (an ancient citadel), and the small town of Rayen with its beautiful gardens and shrine. Not far from here are the Kaluts, some of Iran’s most spectacular desert scenery. These places are best reached by private vehicle, as public transport here is limited.
Iran has a long coastline and several island, the largest of which is Qeshm, in the Persian Gulf. This island is relatively underdeveloped and retains much of its traditional characteristics. It’s a great way to get an insight into local Bandari culture, and to witness some of the local economy at work, including agriculture, fishing, and the construction of classic ‘lenge’ boats.
Shiraz is regarded as the center of Persian culture for the last two millennia, and has some of the country’s most beautiful ancient bazaars and historic mosques. It’s also home for the tombs of Hafez and Sa’di, two poets that hold a special place in Iranian society and literature. The ruins of Persepolis, just outside Shiraz, evoke images of a thriving ancient Persia, and should not be missed.
The next destination is Tehran, the bustling capital city, and beating economic heart, of Iran. As the most secular and liberal city in the country, it’s the best place to learn about modern Iran. Qom, on the other hand, is one of the conservative ‘strongholds’ in the country, and provides an interesting contrast with Tehran.
We travel further to Kandovan, a beautiful mountain village where some of the houses are carved out of eroded rocks. It’s near Tabriz, the final destination in the video, famous for its magnificent bazaar.

Hello dear friends, I hope you are doing well.
Today, we will visit one of the beautiful and amazing natural areas in Alborz province, Haft Cheshmeh Waterfall.
Haft Cheshmeh waterfall of Karaj is one of the beautiful waterfalls of Alborz province, which is located at the 17th kilometer of the Karaj-Chaloos road, near Arangeh Karaj village.
On the way to the Haft Cheshmeh waterfall, you will pass through a spectacular and clean valley, which is shaded by trees on the riverside, creating a spectacular view and a beautiful environment, and ends with a pleasant calm with the sound of the water's feet.
The way to Haft Cheshmeh Karaj waterfall is not so difficult and you just need to drive to Tehran-Karaj highway and then to Chaloos road with any vehicle. After traveling about 17 kilometers on the beautiful Chaloos road, you will reach the sign of Arangeh village on your right.
The best time to travel and visit Haft Cheshmeh Karaj waterfall is summer season. In the hot season of the year, the air temperature of the valley is more suitable than other seasons and the best use can be made of the green space and the pristine and beautiful environment of this region. The water of Arangeh Chalus river is very cold even in the summer season, and to see the waterfall, you have to cross this river and walk a path in the water.

Mehrshahr is one of the neighborhoods of Karaj in Alborz province of Iran.
Prior to 1372, this area was considered a separate city from the city of Karaj and was managed by the Mehrshahr Municipality (now called the Municipality of Districts 3 and 4 of Karaj).
Mehrshahr has three main streets: Shahrdari (four lanes), Eram and Golha; Which is located at the beginning of Eram Boulevard Apple Garden and in the middle of it Shams Palace (Pearl Palace).
Mehrshahr has a cool and very clean climate due to the existence of many gardens around it.
It is said that the interest of the founder of Mehrshahr, namely Shams Pahlavi, in Mehr (meaning the sun and its related mirrors) influenced this naming.
He changed his name from Khadijeh to Shams (Sun or Mehr) and his wife also changed her name from Ezatullah to Mehrdad (gift of the sun). Mehrshahr was first named Mehrdasht at the request of Shams Pahlavi.
During the reign of Mohammad Reza Shah Pahlavi and after the construction of the Pearl Palace in this area, two boulevards with the names of Chaharbandi (municipality) and Eram were built in villa areas for citizens in three phases adjacent to the palace, which is called Mehrshahr.
The total of these areas was added. These areas initially consisted of large and scattered villas and on three sides reached lands that were turned into apple orchards by the order of Shams Pahlavi to improve the climate of the region.
By the end of 1957, the number of villas was increasing. After the Iranian Revolution (1978), this area was opened to the public and the Foundation of the Oppressed and Veterans of the Islamic Revolution became the custodian of many vacant lands and abandoned villas. The Pearl Palace was also captured by Sepah.
Phase 1.2 3 area, which is also called Municipality Boulevard area these days, now in addition to old villas, many of which have unique designs of prominent architects, the Municipality Boulevard area is surrounded by two streets, Eram and After Mehrshahr joined the Karaj municipality, apartments were given permits to build apartments in the area, and many historic villas were demolished and replaced by three- to five-story apartments, but the overall atmosphere of the city remains a villa.

Gohordasht neighborhood is one of the neighborhoods in the north of Karaj city, which after the revolution became Rajai of the city, but people still know it as Gohordasht. محله گوهردشت یکی از محله های شمال شهر کرج است که پس از انقلاب به رجایی شهر تبدیل شد اما هنوز مردم آن را به نام گوهردشت می شناسند. گوهردشت کرج دارای بافت شهری و تجاری مناسب و دارای امکانات رفاهی و تفریحی فراوان است و به دلیل وجود مراکز خرید مجلل متعدد، پرطرفدار و مملو از جمعیت است.
