Kapchagay Reservoir and Lake Balkhash, Kazakhstan. Let's travel to the fascinating country of Kazakhstan and as we fly from the city of Almaty in the South to the capital of Nur-Sultan in the North, we will have great views of Kapchagay Reservoir and Lake Balkhash.
Kapchagay Reservoir, also referred to as Lake Kapchagay, is a major reservoir in Almaty Region in southeastern Kazakhstan approximately 80 kilometres north of Almaty. The 140 kilometre long lake Kapchagay is formed by a dam on the Ili River which flows from the mountains in the east towards Lake Balkhash to the northwest. It is named after the town of Kapchagay, which is located on its western bank. During the summer months the lake Kapchagay attracts a number of tourists from Almaty, who frequent its beachy shores on the weekends.
Lake Kapchagay was created in about 15 years (1965-1980) and is almost the largest artificial lake in Kazakhstan.
Lake Balkhash is one of the largest lakes in Asia and 15th largest in the world. It is in the east of Central Asia in southeastern Kazakhstan and belongs to an endorheic (closed) basin. The basin drains seven rivers, the primary of which is the Ili, bringing most of the riparian inflow; others, such as the Karatal, bring surface and subsurface flow.
Lake Balkhash currently covers about 16,400 km2 (6,300 sq mi). However, like the Aral Sea, Lake Balkhash is shrinking due to diversion and extraction of water from its feeders. The lake's western part is fresh water. The lake's eastern half is saline. The east is on average 1.7 times deeper than the west.

Необычный и красивый веломаршрут в отрогах хребта Алтын-Эмель + Капчагай. Путешествие по Казахстану.
На прошлых выходных удалось посетить невероятно красивый маршрут среди древних скалистых останцев в отрогах хребта Алтын-Эмель с завершением на северном побережье Капчагая. Сам путь пролегает среди невысоких гор, большую часть - скоростной спуск вниз (подъем занял всего 300 метров, а летели мы целых 1360 вниз). Расстояние 45-50 км. По пути удалось насладиться зелеными холмами, тюльпанами, свежим воздухом, ирисами, ущельем и даже прохладной водой Капчагая. Малопосещаемый маршрут Kalkan Fast Trail с чистой природой.
Я даже и представить не мог, что есть такие тропы! Спасибо за организацию Клуб велосипедных приключений ( Александру Габченко ( Также всем участникам данной поездки. Очень приятно было познакомиться и прокатиться вместе! - за вами не угонишься на спусках????.
В общем хотелось показать в видео всю красоту данного маршрута. Казахстан не перестает удивлять своей природой! Особенно места вблизи города Алматы. И однозначно, полученные впечатления - стоят того! Рекомендую всем уделить 1-2 дня и отправиться с клубом в такое путешествие. Для меня это было как глоток свежего воздуха в прямом и переносном смысле + мотивация на съемки и монтаж.
