Im Winter nach Norden: Mitfahrt im IC23 von Helsinki nach Oulu
Halllo und Willkommen zu einer weiteren Mitfahrt, die uns diesmal von Helsinki nach Oulu führt. Aufgenommen habe ich sie im Februar 2023, da aber dank zwei nervigen Mitreisenden umfangreichere Arbeiten an der Tonspur unvermeidbar waren erscheint es erst jetzt, knapp 3 Monate später.
Unsere Reise startet am Bahnhof Helsinki. Nach Halten in Pasila und Tikkurila zur Anbindung der restlichen Region Helsinki geht es über Finnlands meistbefahrene Bahnstrecke ohne Halt nach Tampere. Von hier aus geht es über die sogenannte Parkano-Gerade, welche in den 70er-Jahren zur Verkürzung der Reisezeit zwischen Tampere und Seinäjoki gebaut wurde. Ihren Namen hat sie durch ihren sehr geraden Verlauf, der hohe Geschwindigkeiten ermöglicht, einziger Zwischenhalt ist Parkano, der aber von unserem Zug nicht bedient wird. Hinter Seinäjoki geht es größtenteils eingleisig nach Oulu, wichtige Zwischenhalte sind Kokkola und Ylivieska. Nach über 6 Stunden Reisezeit wird schließlich Oulu erreicht.
Unser Zug besteht aus 7 doppelstökigen Intercitywagen, als Zuglok kam eine Sr3 „Vectron“ zum Einsatz.
Hello and welcome to another journey. This time we ride IC23 from Helsinki to Oulu during February 2023.
The journey starts at Helsinki railway station. After stopping in Pasila and Tikkurila the journey is continuing on Finland’s busiest railway-line from Helsinki to Tampere. Behind Tampere our train uses the Parkano direct line, which was built in the 1970ies to reduce the travel time between Tampere and Seinäjoki. It runs straight to Seinäjoki, the only stop is Parkano but our train passes through there. The most important stops on the mostly single-tracked railway-line between Seinäjoki and Parkano are Kokkola and Ylivieska. Oulu is reached over 6h after the departure in Helsinki.
Our train consists out of seven double-decker-coaches, the engine is an Sr3 „Vectron“.

Meidän matka alkaa Helsingin päärautatieasemalla. Pasilan ja Tikkurilan jälkeen me menemme suomen tärkein radalla Tampereelle. Tampereelta meidän matka jatkaa Parkanon oikoradalla, mitkä oli rakennettu 1970 luvulla, Ainoa rautatieasema Tampereen ja Seinäjoen välillä on Parkano, jossa meidän juna ei pysähtyy. Seinäjoen jälkeen matka jatkaa Kokkolan ja Ylivieskan kautta Ouluun missä juna saapuu 6 tunnin kuluttua.
Junalla ovat seitsemän tuplakerta-Intercity-vaunuja, junan veturi oli Sr3 „Vectron“ sähköveturi.
