Guinée Conakry, située en Afrique de l’Ouest, a une histoire riche et diversifiée qui remonte à des milliers d’années. En 1958, la Guinée-Conakry a obtenu son indépendance de la France et est devenue la première colonie africaine à rejeter l’appartenance à la Communauté française, aussi appelée « Francafrique ». Le pays a été dirigé par le président Sekou Touré pendant 26 ans, période pendant laquelle il a établi un état socialiste et a poursuivi des liens étroits avec l’Union soviétique et d’autres pays communistes.

Dans les années 1980 et 1990, la Guinée-Conakry a connu une instabilité politique, notamment des coups d’État militaires et des troubles économiques. Le pays a depuis fait des progrès vers la gouvernance démocratique et a tenu plusieurs élections réussies. Malgré des défis permanents, notamment la pauvreté et le manque d’infrastructures, la Guinée Conakry reste un acteur important de la politique ouest-africaine et possède un riche patrimoine culturel qui continue de prospérer aujourd’hui.

Conakry est la capitale et la plus grande ville de Guinée. Située sur la côte de l’océan Atlantique, Conakry a une histoire et une culture riches, ainsi qu’une économie florissante. La ville compte plus de deux millions d’habitants et est connue pour ses marchés animés, sa vie nocturne animée et son architecture étonnante.

After waiting for 3 days in Guinea Bissau, I crossed the International Border by River Ferry from Guinea Bissau to Guinea Conakry and almost got Deported from Guinea Conakry. It took me insane 4 days to travel from Bissau to Conakry covering just 700 KM.

Le Bureau des affaires africaines du département d’État des États-Unis a estimé que la population actuelle de Conakry est de deux millions. Bitter sweet memories of waterfalls in Guinea

My memories of Guinea will always be ones of such beautiful landscapes but also one of pain as my laptop got stolen in Dalaba. Four months into my trip through Africa I lost over 8000 media files from 4 countries but I learned to allow nature heal the wounds of time.

In some ways having this experience when I did made me more alert for the rest of my journey and it reminded me that no matter wherever we go there will always be people with different intentions around us.

I found support from the local community and the beautiful nature in the Fouta Djallon gave me strength to carry on. So get up and go out into the world if something bad happens learn from it but don't let it stop you :-)

Kankan est par sa population la deuxième ville de la République de Guinée, après la capitale Conakry, et la plus grande pour ce qui est de la surface. Elle est située en Haute-Guinée sur le fleuve Milo. Elle est capitale de la région de Kankan et chef-lieu de la préfecture de Kankan.

Some clips of a visit to the island of Roume near Conakry, the capital of Guinea, in February 2012. Roume is one of the Iles de Los and popular for its sandy beaches. On the boat trip to the island you pass some old ship wrecks and two other islands, Tamara and Kassa. Although there were only few tourist facilities on Roume in 2012, it was nice to escape the hectic hustle of busy Conakry!
