Tourbeschreibung:
Startpunkt ist der Parkplatz an der Haarnadelkurve der Landesstraße L186. Von da aus geht es gleich bergauf. An dem Punkt wo der Damenpfad kreuzt, biegen wir scharf links ab und machen einen Abstecher zum Kandelfels, wo man dann eine schöne Aussicht auf Waldkirch hat.
Danach laufen wir die gleiche Strecke zurück und an der Kreuzung laufen wir den Damenpfad weiter und biegen links in den Ahornmättleweg ein. Nach einer Weile gelangen wir links in den Präsident-Thoma-Weg. Diesen folgen wir bis zur Thomashütte, bei der wir eine herrliche Aussicht ins Tal genießen.
Nach kurzen Halt laufen wir den Präsident-Thoma-Weg weiter und biegen auf der Strecke nach rechts ab um dann auf die Kuhwiesen zu gelangen. Nach einem Stück kommt dann ein Schotterweg, welchen wir dann links abbiegen und zur Gipflepyramide wandern. Von dort aus gelangen wir wieder auf den Damenpfad und dann noch auf dem Turnerweg bis zum Bergagasthof Kandel, wo wir einkehren.
Nach einer Pause mit Cappuccino laufen wir über den Serpentinenweg zum Ausgngspukt , dem Pakplatz, zurück.

Just ride - Kandel (D) Black Forest
Fahr mit - über den Kandel, von Waldkirch nach St. Peter, 25 sehr flotte Kilometer. Der Kandel ist Freiburgs Hausberg mit sensationellen Blicken in das Rheintal und die Vogesen (wenn´s Wetter passt). Meine Empfehlung: fahrt von Nord nach Süd (so wie im Film), dann habt ihr einen steilen, kurvigen Aufstieg und könnt es bergab durch die langezogenen Kurven richtig laufen lassen.
Just ride - over the Kandel, from Waldkirch to St. Peter, 25 very sporting kilometers. The Kandel is Freiburgs backyard mountain, with magnificent views to the Rhine Valley and the French Vosges Range (if the visibility is good). My suggestion: go from North to the South (as you see in the video), so you have a steep, curvy climb and a relaxing fast descent, thanks to the long drawn curves.

The Schlossberg is a tree-covered hill of 456 metres located in the area of the city of Freiburg im Breisgau. It is directly to the east of Freiburg’s Old Town and belongs to the Black Forest. The forested Schlossberg dominates Freiburg. Take the footpath opposite the Schwabentor, leading up through sun-dappled woods, or hitch a ride on the recently restored Schlossbergbahn cable car. For serious hikers, several trails begin here including those to St Peter (17km) and Kandel (25km).

The little peak is topped by the ice-cream-cone-shaped Aussichtsturm (lookout tower). From here, Freiburg spreads photogenically before you – the spire of the Münster soaring above a jumble of red gables, framed by the dark hills of the Black Forest. The Schlossberg (German for Castle Hill) is a tree-covered hill of 456 metres (1,496 ft) located in the area of the city of Freiburg im Breisgau. It is directly to the east of Freiburg’s Old Town and belongs to the Black Forest. The main geological fault is at the western edge of the Schlossberg, towards the Upper Rhine Graben.
Fortified structures had been built on the Schlossberg since the 11th century. Remains of some of them are still visible today. For a few years now, the board of trustees has tried to make the historical past of the Schlossberg in Freiburg more visible. To achieve this, the remains of the old, overgrown fortifications are being carefully uncovered to make them available to interested visitors. The tower located on the hill (Schloßbergturm) offers a unique panoramic view over the whole town and its vicinity, and was built in 2002 as a project of the board of trustees.
The Burghaldering (literally the Motte ring) also offers a good view over the city, especially from the Kanonenplatz right above the historical centre. The Burghaldering, which circles the hill at half height is partly a hiking trail and partly a forest road closed to motor traffic. It can be reached by foot or car and, since July 2008, also via the new Schlossbergbahn, a funicular railway built to replace the old Schlossberg cable railway.
Inside the mountain, there is a water tower built between 1874 and 1876 to supply Freiburg. Alongside the water tank a large bomb shelter can be found, which was built in the 20th century. Its main entrance is located on the west side of the mountain. The Bismarcktower, made of red sandstone, is located on a rock above the Burghaldering. It was designed by Fritz Geiges and inaugurated in 1900.

Tour 2: Small passes, beautiful villages (182 km) | Andlau, Ville, Ribeauville and Riquewihr are beautiful places to be seen on this tour, with 4 passes waiting in between.
Tour 3: St. Odile Monastery and Hoch Königsburg (300 km) | It is 56 km from Rebstock to the monastery. A tour around the monastery is definitely a must - there is also a great view and coffee. Königsburg is 700 m above sea level and offers a panoramic view of the Rhine and the Black Forest. We travel over 6 passes between the monastery and the castle.
Tour 4: Schwarzwaldhochstraße (254 km) | A amazing tour through the Black Forest's heart.
