What to do in Kampen
Kampen has an ancient tradition of commerce and shipping, and you can tell. This Hanseatic town has over 500 monuments, including the Church of St Nicholas, the Gothic house, the town gates and a replica of the Medieval merchant ship De Kamper Hanze Kogge. With all these impressive monuments to behold, the best way to explore the historic town centre is on a walking tour. From Korenmarktpoort gate, head to the old Vispoort gate on IJsselkade quay, close to the old town hall, where the fish market has been held since the 14th century.
If you want to know more about the history of Kampen, visit the Stedelijk Museum. Kampen has always been an entrepreneurial settlement, with – among others – tobacco factories large and small, the only survivor of which is De Olifant. Today, it is a museum, where you can witness cigars being rolled by hand, and also home to the longest cigar in the world!

In this video, we visit the 'Stadsmuseum' (City Museum) of Kampen, where they have tons of information about the Hanseatic city called Kampen. This city is one of the oldest in the Netherlands, with a rich history to explore. We were pleasantly surprised by this museum, which has many interactive displays and impressive objects to show.
What made our visit even nicer, was the fact that we got to visit two different locations with our museum ticket. The old synagogue of Kampen forms part of the Stadsmuseum and thus you can visit it with the same ticket. Apart from learning about Kampen and the Hanseatic League, we also discovered a lot about the former Jewish community of this fascinating city. Die Stadt Kampen liegt am Fluss IJssel, der in die ehemalige Zuiderzee mündet. Eine wunderschöne Stadt, die einen Besuch wert ist. Eine alte Hansestadt mit etwa 300 Denkmälern. Eine schöne Entdeckungstour durch alte Stadttore. Die längste Einkaufsstraße der Niederlande und ein wunderschöner Kai. Kampen ist ein Muss in den Niederlanden.

Die ehemalige Hansestadt Kampen, befindet sich in der Provinz Overijssel, welche eine Verbindung zum Ijsselmeer darstellt.
Die Aufnhamen in meinem Video sind bei einem Stadtrundgang / Spaziergang in Kampen entstanden. Die Hauptattraktion ist die Stadsbrug (die Brücke / Hebebrücke) welche sich anhebt, damit größere Schiffe, Boote, Yachten und Segelschiffe durchfahren können. Diese Hebebücke (Stadsbrug) der selten Art, dient auch gleichzeitig als Zufahrt zur Stadtmitte von Kampen.
Die schöne Altstadt von Kampen, wird mit mehreren Kirchen, sowie einer Burgmauer und einem Torbogen geschmückt. Glockenspiele begleiten den Aufenthalt positiv, in Kampen.
Kampen verfügt über mehrere kleine Yachthäfen (Marina).
Einige Geschäfte in der Einkaufsstraße bzw. Füßgängerzone bleiben Monatgs geschlosen, sind jedoch Sonntags geöffnet.
Ein Besuch im Lokal der Hafenmeisterei erweckt durch die beidseitigen Blicke auf die Hafenmolen und der kleinen Boot das Maritime Flair.
Weitere Ausflugsmöglichkeiten in der Umgebung: Ijsselmeer, Enkhuizen, Urk, Katemaar, Zware Maar, Lelystad (Outlet), Amsterdam.

Kampen is a municipality, a city and an old Hanseatic city at the lower reaches of the river IJssel in the Dutch province of Overijssel.
It has one of the best preserved old town centres of the Netherlands, including remains of the ancient city wall (of which three gates are still standing): The Koornmarkt Gate, The Friar Gate (Broederpoort) and the Cellebroeders Gate.
