Kinshasa has the largest population of any city in Africa with a population of 14 million within the City limits, and is also the 2nd largest French-speaking city in the world behind Paris. After decades of armed conflicts imposed by neighbouring countries, the infrastructures of the once leading modern African city are now being remarkably restored. Chinese companies are involved in numerous projects of reconstruction throughout the city.

welcome to Kisangani (boyoma) the 3rd Beautiful city in Congo || travel vlog

Kisangani is the capital of Tshopo province in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. It is the fifth most populous urban area in the country, with an estimated population of 1,261,000 in 2020 and the largest of the cities that lie in the tropical woodlands of the Congo
Some 1,300 miles (2,100 km) from the mouth of the Congo River, Kisangani is the farthest navigable point upstream. Kisangani is the nation's most important inland port after Kinshasa, an important commercial hub point for river and land transportation and a major marketing and distribution centre for the north-eastern part of the country. It has been the commercial capital of the northern Congo since the late 19th century.

Deadliest Journeys - Congo: The Last Train in Katanga

In Katanga more than 2000 people, three times the train's capacity, are squeezing in the carriages of the Swallow. Conditions are precarious on the train, which crosses the whole country in more than a week, stopping in several villages. But the journey isn't easy. The rails are poorly maintained, accidents frequent and the journey is risky.

00:00 The majority of roads in the Congo are either impossible to traverse or simply non-existent. Unfortunately, air travel, the only dependable mode of transportation, remains inaccessible to the Congolese population.
04:25 In the southern region, the Hirondelle train embarks on a journey that spans half the country, connecting Lubumbashi, the capital of Katanga, to Ilebo. This train serves as the sole lifeline for the most isolated villages.
13:40 During the rainy season, the roads become completely impassable.
20:00 Some individuals resort to crossing the country on bicycles in order to sell their goods.
27:15 Trains are frequently halted to accommodate hurried passengers.
31:21 Within the Congo, certain territories are still governed by traditional kings.
37:40 On dilapidated roads, bicycles require frequent repairs.
44:17 Regularly targeted by saboteurs, traffickers bring the train to a halt, disrupting its operations.

MAP OF THE DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF THE CONGO [ DRC ]

hello my friends. this is a map of the democratic republic of the congo. The DRC is located in central sub-Saharan Africa, bordered to the northwest by the Republic of the Congo, to the north by the Central African Republic, to the northeast by South Sudan, to the east by Uganda, Rwanda and Burundi, and by Tanzania , (across Lake Tanganyika), to the south and southeast by Zambia, to the southwest by Angola, and to the west by the South Atlantic Ocean and the Cabinda Province exclave of Angola. It straddles the Equator, with one-third to the north and two-thirds to the south. With an area of 2,345,408 square kilometres , it is the second-largest country in Africa by area, after Algeria.

As a result of its equatorial location, the DRC experiences high precipitation and has the highest frequency of thunderstorms in the world. The annual rainfall can total upwards of 2,000 millimetres in some places, and the area sustains the Congo rainforest, the second-largest rain forest in the world after the Amazon rainforest. This massive expanse of lush jungle covers most of the vast, low-lying central basin of the river, which slopes toward the Atlantic Ocean in the west. This area is surrounded by plateaus merging into savannas in the south and southwest, by mountainous terraces in the west, and dense grasslands extending beyond the Congo River in the north. The glaciated Rwenzori Mountains are found in the extreme eastern region.

The tropical climate produced the Congo River system which dominates the region topographically along with the rainforest it flows through. The Congo Basin occupies nearly the entire country and an area of nearly 1,000,000 km2. The river and its tributaries form the backbone of Congolese economics and transportation. Major tributaries include the Kasai, Sangha, Ubangi, Ruzizi, Aruwimi, and Lulonga.

The Congo River has the second-largest flow and the second-largest watershed of any river in the world. thats all. please comment and subscribe for the best maps. goodbye.

#drc #democraticrepublicofcongo #mapschool #mapsolo #petamap #cartemap #mapamap #congo #congodemocraticrepublicofthe #congoriver #kartemap

A beautiful road to a typical village of DR Congo.

Democratic Republic of the Congo N'djili International Airport FIH

Democratic Republic of the Congo: N'djili International Airport (FIH) - A Guide to Major Airports in Africa.
1. Location: About 16 miles from Kinshasa's city center.
2. Pros: Most routes of all Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) airports.
3. Cons: Fees for simply traveling through the airport for both arrivals and departures; chaotic terminal is confusing to travelers.
4. Ground Transportation: Taxis are readily available, but be wary of scammers. There are no public transportation options..
Serving more than 800,000 passengers annually, N'dijili International Airport is the DRC's busiest facility. It's a hub for Congo Airways, which has been expanding its routes to international destinations since May 2018: it flies to Johannesburg in South Africa and Douala in Cameroon. Other airlines that fly here include Air France, Ethiopian, Kenya, and Turkish. Travelers report fees of up to $55 to simply pass through the airport for both arrivals and departures. Facilities are relatively modern, but navigating the airport can be difficult..
