RÜDESHEIM Germany and Castles Middle Rhine Valley [Travel Guide]
Welcome to one of Germany’s most unique treasures: The Rhine Gorge (upper middle Rhine valley)! It is a landscape of beautiful villages, vineyards and castles that is considered UNESCO World Heritage! It is a culturally and historically very interesting region to visit in Germany. Well-known is the town of Rüdesheim that is admired for its wines, beautiful houses and famous Drosselgasse. The Drosselgasse is a very picturesque alley that is considered the most popular spot in the town of Rüdesheim. The entire region is famous for its wines: Federweisser, Riesling and Icewine. A must is a visit to the vineyards above Rüdesheim; a great location for going on a hike. Just at the top of the hills is this massive monument called Niederwalddenkmal. It was built after the formation of the German empire. From the Niederwalddenkmal, you may also enjoy a brilliant view over Rüdesheim, the Rine and the surrounding vineyards. It is definitely worth to stay for a few days in this region as there are plenty of castles on the left and righten shore of the river Rhine. There are roughly 30 castles, thus plenty of medieval sites to visit! Worth to see are the castles Burg Sooneck, Rheinstein, Pfalzgrafenstein and Rheinfels. The latter is quite a large castle just at the top of this beautiful village St. Goar. It is perfect to just combine both: first seeing the castle Burg Rheinfels and then roam around the village’s alleys. St. Goar is considered quite less-touristy, but is a beautiful traditional German village. All in all, despite quite historic, this region is not overly touristy, certainly also because there are plenty of castles to visit!

In this video, we’ll be touring the ruins of Heidelberg Castle and exploring some of its gems which include an enormous wine barrel and the apothecary museum. We’ll wander through Heidelberg University, which happens to be the oldest university in all of Germany, and at one point had an infamous student jail. Plus, we’ll hike the Philosopher’s Way for epic sunset views, we’ll stroll along the banks of the Neckar River, and we’ll enjoy some hearty German and international dishes along the way because you already know how much we love food.

We arrived in Düsseldorf not really knowing what to expect, but over the course of 72 hours, we discovered this is a vibrant city with beautiful green spaces, a thriving art scene, architecture that’ll make your eyes pop, traditions worth exploring, and more restaurants than we had time for! Dortmund is the third-largest city of Germany's most populous federal state of North Rhine-Westphalia and largest city in the Ruhr area. Known in the past for the development of heavy industry and coal mining, today Dortmund has established as a high-tech center.
This travel video presents the most popular attractions the city is famous for - Alter Markt, Friedensplatz with the municipal buildings - Rathaus and Altes Stadthaus, the Opera house, city garden, Florian TV tower, Signal Iduna park (Borussia Dortmund stadium), Reinold's church and more.
Other famous attraction not included in this video is Dortmund's Zollern Colliery, which was closed at the time of my visit ( Monday is day off).

Greetings from the German Alps where today in our travel guide we’ll be showing you around Berchtesgaden National Park, Germany’s only alpine national park, which may also be the most beautiful place in all of Germany.
This is a place that I had been wanting to visit ever since I learned of its existence, and I knew Sam would be happy with a quiet nature escape especially when the scenery looks like this! Give us mountains, forests and lakes any day of the week and we’re a happy couple.
We spent a total of 3 nights based in the town of Schönau am Königssee and we made the most of our time here with plenty of hikes around Berchtesgaden National Park, a boat tour on the emerald waters of Königssee, a cable car ride up Jenner Mountain, plus we just had fun befriending the local farm animals and enjoying rainy picnics with mountain views from our balcony.

Trip details:
We stayed in the town of Schönau am Königssee.
Our guesthouse was called Alpenpension Bergidyll.
The hiking trail on the first day was Malerwinkl.
We took the Jennerbahn Cable Car to Mittelstation on the second day.
The boat trip on the third day was done with Bayerische Seenschifffahrt starting in Königssee with stops in St Bartholomä, Salet, and a hike to Obersee.
