Sweden, formally the Kingdom of Sweden, is a Nordic country located on the Scandinavian Peninsula in Northern Europe. It borders Norway to the west and north, Finland to the east, and is connected to Denmark in the southwest by a bridge–tunnel across the Öresund. At 447,425 square kilometres (172,752 sq mi), Sweden is the largest Nordic country, the third-largest country in the European Union, and the fifth-largest country in Europe. The capital and largest city is Stockholm. Sweden has a total population of 10.5 million, and a low population density of 25.5 inhabitants per square kilometre (66/sq mi), with around 87% of Swedes residing in urban areas, which cover 1.5% of the entire land area, in the central and southern half of the country.
Nature in Sweden is dominated by forests and many lakes, including some of the largest in Europe. Many long rivers run from the Scandes range through the landscape, primarily emptying into the northern tributaries of the Baltic Sea. It has an extensive coastline and most of the population lives near a major body of water. With the country ranging from 55°N to 69°N, the climate of Sweden is diverse due to the length of the country. The usual conditions are mild for the latitudes with a maritime south, continental centre and subarctic north. Snow cover is variable in the densely populated south, but reliable in higher latitudes. Furthermore, the rain shadow of the Scandes results in quite dry winters and sunny summers in much of the country.
Sweden is famous around the world for lots of things: Saab and Volvo automobiles, the music group Abba, pickling herring and the DIY megastore IKEA. It is equally as famous for its stunning scenery, picturesque fishing villages, being the land of reindeer and endless summer sun.

Join a culinary tour to Gothenburg and it’s surroundings and discover the most beautiful beaches and best kept local secrets of Swedens west coast.
When traveling there is only one rule I always follow: Go where the locals go. This time it lead me to crystal clear water, the rugged beauty of granite shores, magical sunsets and a vibrant city with a strong working-class, unpretentious vibe.
We started our culinary journey while waiting for our motorcycle tires to be changed in Gothenburg Downtown:
Saluhallen is the biggest indoor market in town. The Market Hall was built at the boatyard at Götaverkan between the years 1888-1889 and designed by architect Hans Hedlund, who has drawn many of Gothenburgs most famous buildings of that time. At Saluhallen you find delicacies from all over the world - and seafood right from the ocean at Gothenbourg. We decided for shrimps and sweet water crayfish - that made for a delicious lunch at our relatives house close to Gothenburg.
The real charm of Gothenburg is not only it’s vibrant city - but it’s location on the Kattegat - the arm of the North Sea separating Denmark from Sweden. After having received several suggestions from our family and friends living in Gothenburg, we set out on a hike to one of the most beautiful beaches - a real local hidden gem. Today we are checking out the Haparanda - Kalix high speed railway onboard one of the Bombardier Regina x52 Norrtåg trains that currently holds the record for fastes train to ever run in Sweden, reaching speeds of up to 303 km/h. Join me for a trip on this brutal and intresting railway line.

Arriving to Skellefteå airport and visiting Skellefteå - Piteå - Gammelstad - Luleå - Kalix in the same journey.
Second day. Starting from Kalix and direction to Tornio cross the border with Finland and going to Tervola - route 929 - route 83 - Peio - Pajala (to enjoy wildlife and isolated areas with wonderful views) and continous to Kiruna. Before arriving to Kiruna you can visit the original Ice Hotel in Jukkasjärvi only 17km from Kiruna or visit Nikkaluokta: a Sami area and starting point of dozens of trekking in excursions in this part of the Abisko Mountains and only 30km from Kiruna...
