You can hire private vehicle from Agartala in about INR 4000 for one day.
You can also go by Bus till Dharmanagar and then by private vehicle like auto or sumo.
The nearest railway station is at Kumarghat (20km).
Kumarghat has trains coming from both Agartala (Tripura) and Lumding (Assam).
Lumding is connected to trains from New Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal and other parts of Assam, Nagaland.

Last Day in Tripura : Visiting Unakoti, Kailashahar | Hidden Rock Sculpture (Bengali Village Life)
Welcome to the final series of my solo travel to Tripura, the third smallest state of India and unexplored beauty in Northeast India.
Today I am in Kailashahar, the Northern most part of Tripura. Kailashahar is majorly inhibited by Tripura Bengali people. The place Kailashahar is a small town famous for Hidden Rock Sculpture called Unakoti, a stone heritage that is said to be dated to 7th century. Unakoti has a huge rock sculpture of shiva and Unakoti Sculpture is do magnificent that Govt of India has proposed it for UNESCO World Heritage Site India. It was quite interesting to explore more about Unakoti history, Unakoti caves. Unakoti in Tripura is for sure one of the best Tripura tourist places and places to see in Tripura.
The distance from Kailashahar and Unakoti in Tripura is about 7 km. Thankfully I was guided by a local resident from a Bengali Village called Bhagwan nagar which gave me a space to experience Bengali Village Life. Bhagwan nagar is a traditional Tripura Bengali Village. I stayed there for one night and within this such small span of time I deeply experienced Tripura Bengali Village,Tripura Bengali Village Life, Tripura Bengali people and as a whole about Tripura Village Lifestyle, Tripura Village house, Tripura Village area.
I hope my small Tripura travel video have given some inspiration to travel to Tripura, Northeast India.

Rana dighi, right adjacent to kali temple is the hub of gathering during any occasion and this time a newly built Shiva sculpture has been inaugurated. History
Majority of the known history of Dharmanagar is derived from the ancient Rajmala scripts, which is the ancient Royal chronicles of the Kings of Tripura written in the 14th century.
The origin of the name 'Dharmanagar' cannot be accurately traced back in time. The Rajmala refers to at least four known ancient kings whose names include the word 'Dharma'. So it remains a matter of speculation as to which king had lent his name to the town. Various uncovered documents however, indicate that the existence of Dharmanagar goes back deep into time. The Rajmala further indicates that the name 'Faticuli' was used to mean Dharmanagar back in those ancient times.
Geography
The exact geographical boundaries of Dharmanagar in the ancient times, have not been clearly documented. However, a general idea about the size obtained from various sources indicate that one major position of Sylhet (now in Bangladesh) was included in Dharmanagar[citation needed]. Sources also indicate that Dharmanagar in those days was not as small as it is today. The size of Dharmanagar has been greatly diminished over the ages and what was once the mighty capital of Tripura has now been reduced to a district town of the state.
At present Dharmanagar is bound by Moulvibazar of Sylhet, Bangladesh in the North, Karimganj district of Assam in the East and Mizoram state in the South and Kailashahar subdivision of Unakoti district in the west.

The population of Dharmanagar, as estimated in late 2006, is around 32,912.[4]
Dharmanagar has an average literacy rate of 73.66%, higher than the national average of 65.38%: male literacy is 81.47% and female literacy is 65.41%.[5]
Majority of the population follows Hinduism (92.37%), followed by Islam (6.88%). Buddhism, Christianity, Sikhism and Jainism are followed by less than 1% of the population combined.[3]

As seen in the table where the population 1991 to 2011 is displayed, Dharmanagar had a population of 25,897 in the year 1991 and it rose to 1.45 in 2001 which stood to 30,790 further more the population had increased more 2.4% in the year 2011 and it went to 40,595[2]
Climate
Dharmanagar is blessed with a peaceful climate most of the year. However, summer time can be excessively hot, dry, humid and interspersed with rains and thunderstorms. Winter generally starts towards the end of November and lasts until February, where the temperatures can reach very low conditions. The monsoon season in Dharmanagar starts in April during the Bengali month of Baishakh. During the monsoon season, Dharmanagar is inundated frequently due to excessive rainfall and flooding by the local rivers.

Located 178 kms from Agartala in the Kailashahar subdivision of North Tripura, Unakoti Hill has a 30 feet Shiva figure carved out of a single vertical rock face. It also has other rock-cut and stone images of Vishnu, Nandi, Narasimha, Ravana, Hanuman and several unidentified deities.
