Known as Queen of Himalayas, Darjeeling is among the best hill stations in India. It is spread in Himalayan foothills, surrounded by green tea garden, monasteries, the wonderful Toy Train and towered over by the majestic Khangchendzonga, However, for a fun getaway to this magical town, we brought to you the best places to visit in the town that you might not want to miss on your trip.
1. Batasia Loop: The Batasia Loop is a 100-year-old circular train track encircled by a spectacular mountain vista. This is the most picturesque stretch of the toy train route. Located on Hill Cart, the Batasia Loop lies about 5 kilometres outside of Darjeeling and is definitely worth the walk or drive. The loop is renowned for its distinctive design which allows the train to circumscribe itself, exposing riders to a 360-degree view of the rippling hills and sky-high peaks, including the stupendous peak of Kanchenjunga.
2. Tiger Hill: One of the best tourist places in Darjeeling, Tiger Hills is best place to see sunrise view of Kangchenjunga peak. On a clear day one can see even mount Everest from here. It is located 11 Kms from the Darjeeling town. One has to leave very early in the morning from the town to the see the beautiful sunrise. The place is generally crowded.
3. Darjeeling Toy Train: Among the other top tourist places in Darjeeling is the toy train that starts from Siliguri and terminates at Darjeeling. A UNESCO World heritage site, this Darjeeling Railway has been used for filming several documentaries and movies like Barfi. It also offers Joy Rides. Darjeeling Joy Ride is a 2-hours ride in the famous Darjeeling Toy Train. It is a round trip journey from Darjeeling to Ghum covering a distance of 14 km.
4. Peace Pagoda: Peace Pagoda reflects four avatars of Lord Buddha and is located adjacent to Nipponzan Myohoji Buddhist Temple. It attracts people from all religion and offers spiritual serenity and love to all.
5. Darjeeling Zoo: Also known as Padmaja Naidu Zoological, Darjeeling Zoo is home to the largest population of snow leopards in India and is one of the best places to visit in Darjeeling. You can also see some rare animals like Red Pandas, Tibetan Wolf and lot more.
6. Tea Garden: Your trip to Darjeeling will be incomplete without visiting one of the tea estates that are the pride of this hill station! Happy Valley tea estate is one of the oldest in the town and adds to its beauty! With an entry fee of rupee 100 Make a visit to the garden, understand the process of tea making and buy some tea.
7. Himalayan Mountaineering Institute: Located inside the Darjeeling Zoo, HNI is named in honor of Tenzing Norgay, the first Indian to climb on Mount Everest. Ambitious mountaineers and amateurs come to this place to take training and get themselves fit for the mountains as it is recognized as one of the best mountaineering institutes in India.
8. Ghoom Monastery: Also known as Yiga Choeling Monastery, this popular destination among the tourist places in Darjeeling is located downslope of Ghoom Railway station. This monastery is one of the oldest in the region and reflects the ancient glory of Buddhist culture.
9. Mahakal Temple: The main Mahakal temple is devoted to Shiva and it witness devotees from all sections of society and religions most visiting the temple for both leisure or pilgrimage. Bells and hundreds of colorful prayer flags line the up-hill walk and the shrine. Mahakal Temple is located behind the Chowrasta and encircled by the Mall Road on the ridge of Darjeeling town. The approach is an uphill narrow road about 100 yards from the Mall and is accessible by foot only.
10. Mall Road: Darjeeling’s Mall Road is located at the heart of Darjeeling and is 1 kilometer away from the Darjeeling Himalaya Railway Station and is one of the best places to visit in Darjeeling for shopping and otherwise.

Darjeeling is the best tourist place in West bengal and one of the best in India. There is no other beautiful hill station in West Bengal than Darjeeling. Darjeeling is called the Queen of Hills. It is a town located in the state of west bengal. Once it was built by the British and soon it became famous for tea cultivation. Darjeeling tea is the best in the world. Darjeeling is located at an average elevation of 2042m. Distance between Siliguri and Darjeeling is nearly 61km. One can go there by car, share jeep or bus. It will take 2:30 hours to reach Darjeeling from NJP or siliguri.
However, there are plenty of popular tourist places in Darjeeling but in this video I have shown top 10 tourist places which you should haven't afford to miss. 2.Sandakphu – The only trekking destination from where one can see the views of four of the highest mountains in the world. – Everest, Kanchenjunga, Makalu and Lhotse.
3. DHR (Darjeeling Himalayan Railway) – Take a joy ride on the toy train, which runs along the Hill Cart Road.
4. HMI (Himalayan Mountaineering Institute) - With various short and long mountaineering courses, this mountaineering institute provides an opportunity for young generation to get involve in adventure sports.
5. Glenburn Tea Estate – The Glenburn Tea Estate is one of the oldest tea gardens of the area and is spread over acres of hill slopes. Originally established by Scottish Tea Company in 1859 during the British Raj. It offers an inclusive homestay for the discerning tourist amidst sprawling gardens with magnificent views of Kanchenjunga and Sikkim.
6.Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park –This is the only specialized zoo in the country and is internationally recognized for its conservation breeding programme of Red Pandas, Snow Leopards, Tibetan Wolves and other highly endangered animal species of the Eastern Himalaya.
7. Himalayan Tibet Museum –The only Tibetan museum in the area that showcases the rich cultural heritage of Tibet and the Tibetans. The Museum has a separatesection showcasing artifacts on the history and culture of Tibet.
