Another beautiful town on Germany's Romantische Straße or Romantic road. The town was formed in a crater, it is still surrounded by its medieval walls, with ancient gatehouses & historic towers. Within its walls is a fine medieval town to be explored, and we follow part of it's historic tour * , along its walls, discover its streets and head to the centre of the Altstadt, or old town.

Nordlingen, Germany - Old town area (medieval) with intact wall still standing
Going back as far as 898 A.D., it is now the only walled town in Germany where the wall is still intact all the way around it - about 3 km in total length. We visited in October 2012 and spent an entire afternoon in this charming town on the Romantic Road (Romantische Straße) of Germany, located in the region of Bavaria.
Ed does the narration and most of the video filming while I do most of the still photos and then edit all of it to create this You Tube upload.

We do sightseeing in the city of Aalen in the east of Baden-Württemberg in Germany. In former times it was at the border of the Roman Empire called the Limes.

Neresheim Monastery is one of the oldest roman catholic monasteries of South-Germany and is at the same time the youngest and the newest Baroque Churches in Europe. The church was converted from a fort on top of the Ulrichberg Mountain near the town of Neresheim in Ostalb District in Baden-Württemberg State of South Germany. Today it is a monument and world heritage site visited by tourist and pilgrims from all over the world. The video also shows a brief history of the Monastery.

Nördlingen, Germany Walking Tour: Attack on Titan City (4K Ultra HD 60fps)
I recorded this 4k ultra hd video during my trip in Nördlingen, which is a town in Bavaria, Germany. It was built in a 15 million year old & 25 km diameter wide impact crater the Nördlinger Ries. The city was the location of two battles during the Thirty Years' War between 1618 and 1648. Today it is one of only three towns in Germany that still have completely intact city walls, the other two being Rothenburg ob der Tauber and Dinkelsbühl. The fictional town Shiganshina from the anime series Attack on Titan is inspired by Nördlingen. This walking tour is about 2 miles (3.2 km) long, starts at the Daniel Tower of St. Georg Church, ends at Obstmarkt and covers many attractions and historic sites of Nördlingen Old Town. A mediados del siglo XIII, un reducido grupo de pobladores de centroeuropa descubrió un lugar que podía ser ideal para asentarse. En la Edad Media, eran conscientes de que debían encontrar una zona que tuviera una serie de barreras naturales, que pudiera ser amurallada de manera sencilla y desde la que poder tener buena visión para ver si el enemigo se acercaba, era fundamental para sobrevivir. En mitad del bosque, una especie de agujero en pleno suelo podría ser el lugar perfecto para construir una villa duradera: lo que aquellos pobladores no sabían es que, además, estaba lleno de diamantes. Aquellos primeros habitantes de Nördlingen pronto notaron que sus edificaciones brillaban más de lo normal. Sin embargo, no sería hasta el año 1960 cuando se descubrió su verdadero secreto: la propia ciudad era el yacimiento de diamantes más importante del mundo.

Unser Tag in der Altstadt von Heidenheim. Die kleine Stadt an der Brenz hat eine schöne Altstadt und Fußgängerzone. Oberhalb am Berg befindet sich die Burg Hellenstein mit einer wunderbaren Aussicht auf die Stadt und einem schönen Innenhof. Auf jeden Fall einen Besuch wert.

The town was also used as the backdrop for the final scene in the 1970s film Charlie and the Chocolate Factory where Charlie and Willy Wonka take a ride in an elevator over the town.
