Jyväskylä is the largest city in the region of Central Finland and municipality in the western part of the Finnish Lakeland. As of 31 March 2021, Jyväskylä had a population of 143,400.
The City of Jyväskylä was founded on 22 March 1837. The first three Finnish-speaking schools in the world were founded in Jyväskylä, the lycée in 1858, the teachers’ college in 1863, and the girls’ school in 1864. Elias Lönnrot, the compiler of the Finnish national epic, the Kalevala, gave the city the nickname Athens of Finland. This nickname refers to the major role of Jyväskylä as an educational centre. The works of the most famous Finnish architect Alvar Aalto can be seen throughout the city. The city hosts the Neste Oil Rally Finland, which is part of the World Rally Championship.

Jyväskylä City Center Summer Walk 2022 - the Largest City in the Finnish Lakeland
(4K) Jyväskylä is located on the northern coast of Lake Päijänne 150 km north-east from Tampere. It is by far the largest city in the Central Finland region. It has 142 000 inhabitants (7th biggest in Finland). The city is surrounded by lakes and the city center is located on the shore of lake Jyväsjärvi.
This walk has two parts; during the day and night. The day walk covers the city center and the night walk covers the lakeside promenade in Lutakko Marina area.

Jyväskylä a underestimated city with tons of fun & cheap things to do!
Jyväskylä was so much better than I had anticipated, and I had so much fun exploring the city. There a still so much I want to do, that I didn't have time for, I'm definitely planning on going back in the future!
I will recommend taking a trip if you are able to, the city is really charming, and the nature is beautiful.
