El Salvador has had an interesting if not troubling history in the past few decades. But despite that, it has remained a tourist destination because of its abundance of amazing natural beauty, old-world culture, wildlife, and more. And, what might be most surprising to hear… El Salvador has become world famous for being an incredible place for surfing! In this video, we take you through some of the best things to do and see in El Salvador.

Despite it being a small place, we chose to split up the video into three sections – each is dedicated to a separate region of the country. But fortunately, the country is small and accessible enough so that you don’t have to choose only one or two of these regions. You can easily spend time in all of them, engaging in all types of fun and sun-soaked activities. El Salvador is also known for having many volcanoes. Some of them you can drive in, some you can hike on, and some you can admire from nearby. And the country is full of verdant hills, beautiful jungles, and a huge variety of wildlife, especially birds.

Nature lovers will absolutely adore traveling around El Salvador. As well foodies, as the country offers authentic, tasty, and hearty food that will make your mouth water. All in all, it’s a fantastic place to visit. And while we couldn’t possibly cover all of the best things to do, we picked our favorites to get you started. So stay tuned, as Viewcation presents: Best Things to Do in El Salvador!

The SURPRISE they WON'T tell you... at the 7 Waterfalls Tour in Juayua, El Salvador || Vlog 57 ||

At the popular seven waterfalls tour, or siete cascadas, in Juayua El Salvador, there is a little secret they like to keep a surprise. And surprise indeed it was, I could hardly believe it. But the tour was not just about these incredible waterfalls in the Ruta de Flores region of El Salvador, there was so much more. The best part, however, was feeling like I’d received little gifts from Life that were personally meant for me :) If you are looking to travel in El Salvador or explore the Ruta de Flores region, a must stop is the town of Juayua and a visit to the siete waterfalls, one of the most unique experiences you will have!

Ruta de las Flores - El Salvador Travel Vlog | Ataco to Nahuizalco | Indian Couple in Latin America

The five towns of Ruta de las Flores in western El Salvador exposed us to beautiful landscapes, Salvadoran culture, food, art, and the beautiful people of El Salvador, and two lovely dogs.

We stayed in the cool climate of Ataco which turned out to be our favorite in the Ruta de las Flores. The nature and townscapes of Apaneca, the fun in the Albania maze, our experience during the 7 waterfalls hike and food festival in Juayua, the mosaic art of Salcoatitan, and the night market at Nahuizalco town center sum up the highlights of our Ruta de las Flores tour.

Our Airbnb host Antonio prepared special meals for us on various occasions and 'tried' to teach us the process of making pupusas! Staying at this home with Antonio and his two rescued dogs, Callejas and Guarda, was the highlight of our time in Ruta de las Flores, El Salvador.

¿No te has mareado todavía? Pues seguimos...

El Salvador Travel Guide - An Amazing Adventure

El Salvador Travel Guide - An Amazing Adventure

El Salvador is a country in Central America and, geographically, is part of continental North America. It is bordered on the southwest by the Pacific Ocean, and lies between Guatemala and Honduras. It is divided into 14 sections called Departments. It has 25 volcanoes, 14 lakes, and three large cities and is divided in to East, Central and West with the the capital San Salvador in the central region, Santa Ana in the west and San Miguel the largest city in the east.

The civilization of El Salvador dates from the pre-Columbian time, around 1500 BC, according to evidence provided by the ancient structures of Tazumal in Chalchuapa. El Salvador has a tropical climate with pronounced wet and dry seasons. Temperatures vary primarily with elevation and show little seasonal change. The Pacific lowlands are uniformly hot; the central plateau and mountain areas are more moderate.

The countryside of El Salvador is breathtaking, with volcanoes and mountains offering green adventurers exactly what they are looking for. Many of environmentally-oriented community-based organizations promote eco-tourism, and there are a number of beautiful and secluded beaches and forests scattered throughout the country.

A well-maintained and sparsely populated national park is found in the west at Bosque El Imposible. Additionally, there is Montecristo Cloud Forest, and a quaint fishing village with incredible local hospitality and remote coconut islands in La Isla de Méndez. Isla de Olomega in the department of San Miguel is an excellent eco-tourism destination, as are the beautiful Isla El Cajete in Sonsonate, Isla San Sebastian, Conchagua, Conchaguita, Isla Conejo, Isla Teopan, and Isla Meanguera.

One should also visit the colonial towns of Ataco, Apaneca, Juayua, Panchimalco, and Suchitoto as well as the Mayan sites of San Andrés, Joya de Cerén (The Pompeii of Central America and an UNESCO World Heritage Site), and Tazumal, whose main pyramid rises some 75 feet into the air. The on-site museum showcases artifacts from the Pipil culture (the builders of Tazumal), as well as paintings that illustrate life in pre-Hispanic El Salvador. Souvenir hunters will find some of the best artisans in San Juan el Espino and in La Palma (the artisan capital of El Salvador).

The capital, San Salvador, is a cosmopolitan city with good restaurants highlighting the country’s fresh seafood, as well as plenty of shopping, entertainment and nightlife. San Miguel in the East offers tourists a more authentic way to see El Salvador by getting off the beaten track to see its countryside, coastline and lakes
