While we were there, we tried out horseback riding for the first time, enjoyed Thai food, and relaxed at this huge former hacienda/mansion with stretching, meditation, homemade breakfasts...and one REALLY unexpected surprise. Mexico continues to shock us.

Recently, I've been house hunting in Mexico, looking for the perfect home to buy. After viewing a few options in Queretaro (my former home of 1 year), I decided to check out Ajijic at Lake Chapala because I lived here for about 4 months back in 2018 and really enjoyed my time here.
Ajijic, Jalisco is known for having one of the largest communities of foreigners in Mexico. Hundreds of Americans and Canadians flock here every year. That's a selling feature for some and a turn-off for others. In any case, Ajijic certainly has lots of small-town charm with it's cobblestone streets, pleasant weather year-round, beautiful nature, and diverse restaurant scene.
In today's Mexico vlog, I am spending a day in Ajijic to try and decide whether this town is somewhere I'd like to live and/or buy a home! What do you think?

What is the climate in Lake Chapala?
The lake and surrounding mountains ensure warm daytime temperatures throughout the year, averaging a mild 74 F. And, because Lake Chapala sits at 5,000 feet above sea level, humidity is not a problem. ... Once the rain starts the temperature cools as much as 10 degrees and the mountains turn a lush green again.
The coolest months of Ajijic weather are December and January with an average daytime high temperature of 24°c/75° f but it has been known to dip down to 15°c/60°f at times. February and March are very pleasant months with an average daytime temperature in the high 20's celcius/70's fahrenhiet.

Laguna de Juanacatlán
El lago extiende sus alas a ras del suelo
Un ave acaricia su vientre sin tocarle
El cielo contempla en él su rostro níveo
luego lo oculta con su vaho de nubes
Los cerros se extasían con su eterno rostro
y los árboles, como centinelas ígneos
vibran con una canción sublime
de colores, ritmos, sombras y bataholas
En el lago habitan ondinas de misteriosa estirpe
Danzan en noches de luna grande
enamoran a gnomos de la comarca
y las ninfas rinden pleitesía a madre Gaia
Este lago es un pedazo de cielo
cuando oscurece la noche lo usa de cama
Los árboles no se cansan de cantarle
y el viento no se atreve a perturbar su calma.
