Misamis Occidental is blessed with beautiful sandbars. Aside from the famous sperm-shaped island in the heritage town of Jimenez, a beautiful white sandbar can also be found a few meters away from it during low tides. Also called as hunasan or puting balas, this hidden gem is rich with marine resources. The water surrounding the island is crystal clear and the white powdery sand is perfect for a long solitary stroll. Parang nasa Virgin Island ka lang! But, anyone can go there with no entrance fee and no overpriced seafood.

Here's my entry to Smoke-Free Cities Asia Pacific Network (SCAN) video contest with its theme The Wave of the Future!. It's a fast-paced promotional video showcasing the smoke-free landmarks and tourist spots and destinations of the municipality Jimenez in the province of Misamis Occidental.
I quit smoking 8 years back after being a chain smoker for almost 15 years. Wasn't as hard as I thought it would be. Winning this video contest is truly a huge achievement to me but the day I decided to stop smoking was one of the best decisions I've made in my entire life. Nothing is too hard if you have will to do it. To God be the glory!

Jimenez Misamis Occidental is also known as The Mystical Heritage Town Jimenez is a third class municipality in the province of Misamis Occidental, Philippines. St. John the Baptist Church of Jimenez Misamis Occidental is also considered now as a National Treasure Church in whole Mindanao. Jimenez is a province with little infrastructure, packed with farmlands, quarried with religion and churches and curbed with history. At the height of modernization, Spanish colonial houses still influences the town, completed with Capiz shell windows. Among the greatest historical contribution of Jimenez is the famous St. John the Baptist Church, built more than 150 years by the Spaniards.

Batanes is truly breathtaking! By watching this video you'll get a gist of the beautiful sceneries in Batanes, however, this isn't all of it because there were some places that I wasn't able to take a video of so I wasn't able to include them in this travel vlog. Also, I apologize if there were some clips that are shaky especially those that were taken in the hills, view decks, and mountain areas & it's because of the strong winds - the stabilizer which I used did not suffice HAHA.

Jimenez is a 4th class municipality in the province of Misamis Occidental, Philippines. According to the 2000 census, it has a population of 23,212 people in 4,997 households.

Historical Development
The Municipality of Jimenez is one of the nine original towns of Misamis Occidental. LEGISLATIVE Act no. 3537 passed on November 2, 1929 divided the old province of Misamis into Misamis Occidental and Misamis Oriental.
The Occidental comprised the original nine towns of Baliangao, Lopez Jaena, Tudela, Clarin, Plaridel, Oroquieta, Aloran, Jimenez, and Misamis. The original nine municipalities of the province of Misamis Occidental grew into the present three cities of Ozamiz, Oroquieta, and Tangub and the 14 municipalities of Aloran, Baliangao, Bonifacio, Calamba, Clarin, Concepcion, Don Victoriano, Jimenez, Lopez Jaena, Panaon, Plaridel, Sapang Dalaga, Sinacaban, and Tudela, with a total of 490 barangays.
Today, Jimenez is one of the fast growing town in Misamis Occidental.
Jimenez has three major high schools including School of Saint John the Baptist, Jimenez Bethel Institute,Purvil High School, and a public high school located in barangay Corrales.
Within the predominantly Catholic town lies the Church of Saint John the Baptist which is one of the oldest monuments in the Philippines. Many Jimeneznons live outside the country (such as the United States) but have retained close ties to the town, with balikbayans offering community service and philanthropy, and others taking up residence upon retirement abroad.
