Tunis to Tabarka: road trip / enjoying life in Tunisia, North Africa (Travel VLOG / Tunisia VLOG)
This week in my Tunisia VLOG I have been exploring Tunisia's far north-west, over by the Algerian border in North Africa. My first stop in Jendouba Governorate was Tabarka, a beautiful coastal resort town in the Kroumirie mountainous region. The drive over there took me through the fertile (and hot) plains around Béja, which have been agriculturally significant since before Ancient Roman times. We then climbed up into the cork oak forests, which look very Alpine and are a lot cooler during the summer months than Tunis.
It wouldn't be a Scafidi Travels road trip without some kind of mechanical problem, but in the end the Mitsubishi and I made it in one piece and got to enjoy the town's main beach, overlooking the 16th century Genoese fortress. I will definitely be heading back to Tabarka soon for two reasons: firstly, I still need to review La Cigale, which is a luxury hotel on the coast that friends tell me is one of the best in the country. Secondly, the beaches around town had some serious surf potential, and I need to try surfing in Tunisia! Life in Tunisia is great!

El Marfouda, comme son nom l'indique, est une crique cachée, sauvage et isolée. C'est un vaste complexe forestier qui se distingue par une grande diversité d’habitats, depuis les sables littoraux jusqu’aux berges marneuses à ripisylve de l’Oued.
La zone est composée de deux espaces naturels majoritairement forestiers séparés par un espace à dominance agricole.
De Chatt Zoueraa à Melloula, ce littoral nord-ouest de Jendouba, représente un potentiel naturel très important, vu son rôle écologique, et surtout sa biodiversité de faune et flore et le mixte naturel unique entre montagnes, plages à sable fin, Oued...

El Marfouda, as its name suggests, is a hidden, wild and isolated cove. It is a vast forest complex which is distinguished by a great diversity of habitats, from the coastal sands to the marly banks with riparian forest of the Oued.
The area is made up of two predominantly forest natural spaces separated by a predominantly agricultural space.
From Chatt Zoueraa to Melloula, this northwest coast of Jendouba represents a very important natural potential, given its ecological role, and especially its biodiversity of fauna and flora and the unique natural mix between mountains, fine sandy beaches, Oued...

Randonnée ne pas rater à Aïn zana Aïn Draham, Tunisie جولة لا تفوت في عين زانا عين دراهم جندوبة
La Tunisie est surprenante par la diversité de ses paysages.
De majestueuses et fières montagnes, plein de verdure, très belles cascades, de magnifiques sculptures de l'eau sur la terre et les pierres, je vous laisse découvrir quelques petites et immémorables minutes d'une randonnée à la la réserve naturelle de Aïn zana (Ain draham). De la boue partout était présent sur les sentiers, A imaginer l'ambiance...
Aïn Zana est un site naturel situé dans le gouvernorat de Jendouba, au nord-oust de la Tunisie, et couvrant une superficie de 47 hectares. Il est classé comme une réserve naturelle en 1993.
Elle a été créée dans le but de conserver une espèce très rare de cette zone, c'est le Chêne Afarès.
Le chêne afarès, بلوط_الأفراس en arabe, est un arbre à feuillage caduc de la famille des Fagacées, du genre Quercus, endémique d'Algérie et de Tunisie.

Journée découverte complète à Ain Draham, Jendouba
Un projet auquel l’équipe Tunisian Campers est honorée d'avoir contribué en tant qu'organisateurs, lancé par Acea à travers le cluster Wiki PAM. La journée consistait à inaugurer un tout nouveau circuit éco-touristique débutant par une randonnée botanique. À travers celle-ci les participants découvrent les plantes médicinales de la région de Ain Draham, qu'ils retrouvent plus tard au cours d'un atelier de distillation donné par les artisanes Wiki PAM. Étaient également au programme : un atelier de confection du fromage artisanal, un cours de VTT et de Yoga en forêt par des coaches et superviseurs locaux, et un déjeuner en plein air cuisiné par les artisanes avec les produits du terroir.
Nous croyons en l'essor de l'éco-tourisme en Tunisie et soutenons les habitants des régions rurales qui en sont les acteurs principaux. Nous travaillons régulièrement avec les locaux et certains d'entre eux sont meme devenu nos ambassadeurs, nous sommes donc plus qu'heureux d'avoir pu élargir l'ampleur de notre impact en participant à ce projet.
L'ACEA est soutenue par l'ambassade des États-Unis en Tunisie et mise en œuvre par FHI 360 en partenariat avec l'Office national de l'artisanat (ONAT), elle étend actuellement ses activités à l'artisanat en bois d'olivier, aux tapis traditionnels et à la poterie.

Visit Bulla Regia - Archeological site
It is one of the most archaeological site in Tunisia, many visitors from all over the world and tourists come here. Bulla Régia is located northwest of Tunisia 9 km from Jendouba. It was a prosperous city thanks to its position on the road linking Carthage to Hippone (current Annaba). Archeology and especially Latin inscriptions can trace the history of the city from the fourth century BC until the Muslim conquest of the seventh century after J-C.
After having depended on Carthage from the 4th century BC, Bulla Régia passed under the control of the Numidian kings around 150 BC when the armies of Massinissa seized the great plains, the city then deviate one of the many royal residences.
