Jawhar is known for its picturesque setting and a vibrant cultural heritage. It is one of the few remaining tribal regions of Maharashtra and is famous for its vibrant Warli painting that are a characteristic landmark of this place. Established in 1918, Jawhar is one of the oldest municipal councils in the state of Maharashtra.

Jawhar is a hill station located at an altitude of ~1,500 ft. in Palghar district. It is known for its Warli paintings and lively tribal culture. Places we saw:
Dabhosa Waterfall - Also known as the Dadarkopara Falls, it is situated in the Dabhosa village over the Lendi river. Its height is 300 feet and it is one of the highest waterfalls near Mumbai.
Katya Maruti Mandir - An old temple dedicated to Lord Hanuman. This temple is known as Katya Maruti mandir as it is surrounded by cactus. A view point is created near the temple, which is known as Hanuman Point.
Jai Vilas Palace - It was built by Raje Yashwant Rao Mukane and was the royal residence of Mukane family. Built on a hill top, this palace is a master piece of architecture with blend of Western and Indian styles of architecture in majestic pink stones. The palace has featured in several Marathi and Hindi films.
Khad Khad Dam - The dam is newly built on the Khadkhad Lake and has solved water problems while becoming a popular attraction for tourists.
Shirpamal - The emperor of the Maratha Kingdom Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj had stayed here on the night of 31st December, 1664 en-route to his Surat plunder. This Point was developed by Advocate Rajaram Mukne, president of Jawhar Municipal Council in 1995.

Jawahar hill station in Maharashtra is a nice spot amidst the tribal region of Maharashtra. Tribal people of Jawahar whole heartedly welcome all tourists!
Elevation/Height: 518 meters above MSL.
Best Time To Visit: All year round, but the ideal time to visit this hill station is July to February.
Location: 80 kms from Nashik & 121 kms from Mumbai, Palghar district, Maharashtra (India).
Being home to one of the rare tribal parts of Maharashtra, Jawhar is among the less explored places in Maharashtra. Even today, tribal communities like Warli, Kolcha and Kukana stay in this region. In spite of having tribal people, a lot of tourists visit this hill station every year. This hill station has dense green forests, exotic valleys & pleasant weather all year round. Jawahar hill station in Maharashtra is located at the height of 518 meters from mean sea level. Earlier it was popularly also called as a ‘Mahabaleshwar of Thane district’ but now this place comes under the newly formed district of Palghar.
Cultural heritage, pleasant climate and scenic beauty of Jawhar have started pulling a lot of tourists to this spot. It is covered by full of thick forest and plenty of fresh air because of which this spot remains pleasant throughout the year. This video is about my trip to Khand lake in the Palghar district near Vikramgad. since we were just 4 of us it was a pleasant ride and we could spend a lot of time at the location. from Dahisar toll naka it just takes 2 hours to reach this location. the lake is quite beautiful. the road to this place is awesome only the last 350 meters of the road is slight offroad. The water level at Khand lake was not that much to go near the dam. It's not actually a hidden place but rather a less explored place the only people who were around this area were the locals.

Kalmandvi Waterfall - Jawhar Waterfall - Trekking in Palghar - Prince Tater
A wonderful waterfall..... Jhawar is truly the land of waterfalls..... It's a series of waterfalls like a step which comes from two sides..... The route to the falls is slightly difficult..... One can take a bike to the top of the falls then there is 200-300 meter down Trek...... otherwise too is 2-3 km walk from the main road.....
In rainy seasons very difficult to go down........
the waterfall is also a bit difficult to locate...
if any difficulties ask the local school kids or village kids for help....
It's located 10-12 km aways from main town.....
Moreover, many people are not aware of it ,.... better take food along wit you

Kalmandvi Waterfall
The Kal Mandavi waterfall is about 100 meters in height and it flows throughout the year, and not just during the monsoons season. However, the most scenic views of the waterfall are during monsoon season. Kalmandi is name of waterfall that situated at near Apatale gaon. Jawhar to Kalmandi is approximately 5–6 km via Jawhar-Zap road.
A twilight view of the Sunset point, Jawhar at the dusk
Nearly 0.5 km towards west, from the heart of the city, there is a heritage of lovers called a Sunset point. The shape of the valley around the Sunset point is like Bow, therefore earlier it was known as Dhanukamal. During sunset, one can see the mountain of Mahalaxmi near Dahanu, which is nearly 60 km from Jawhar.

A scenic view of the Dahbosa Waterfalls during monsoon, Jawhar
Dabhosa- Dadarkopara -waterfall is only 18 km away from on Jawhar — Talasari — Silvasa Road. This waterfall is on Lendi river and on other side of river at Sarsun there is Dadarkopara Waterfall. The Dadarkopara fall usually gets dry during summer, therefore is also known as Suka (Dry) fall. The height of waterfall is about 300 feet. The water from Lendi river first flows in the flask shaped rock and from there it flows in 5 feet by 5 feet flask shaped open natural container made of rocks. The waterfalls are surround by straight mountains of height not less than 600 feet on both sides and are covered with Medicinal plants.
Dabhosa waterfall is one of the highest waterfalls in Maharashtra. To top it all this is one of the very few waterfalls which is perennial. The crater shaped bowl into which the waterfall cascades and the lake at the bottom of the waterfall is truly a spectacular site.

Khad-Khad Dam
This is one of the major dams near Jawhar city. The excess water of dam flows through the huge rocks (just ahead the dam) which can be seen in a form of a waterfall.[
Jawhar is also the hub of Warli tribe and culture. A beautiful place with meadows and valleys also known as mini Mahabaleshwar. Jawhar has scenic places like Dabhosa Waterfall, Jaisagar Lake, Jaivilas Palace, Khad Khad Dam, Shirpamal, Hanuman Point.

Situated in the ranges of the Western Ghats, Jawhar is known for its picturesque setting and a vibrant cultural heritage. Established in 1918, Jawhar is one of the oldest municipal councils in the state of Maharashtra.
The Jawhar state was founded by Raja Jayaba Mukne in 1343, with Jawhar as its capital. The state went through many transitions and lasted for over six hundred years until its accession into the Union of India in 1947. During the British Raj, as a princely state, it was a part of Bombay Presidency and had a 9-gun salute status. Although a capital city, Jawhar's development was largely neglected by successive rulers, due to a low revenue generation and haphazard organisation. However, Jawhar witnessed a significant development in the reign of Raja Patang Shah IV and subsequent rulers. Raja Patang Shah V (Yashswant Rao) Mukne was the last ruler of Jawhar before its formal integration in the Union of Indian in 1947.
