Jaunpils Castle was built in 1301 as a Livonian Order castle, surrounded by a moat on three sides, and initially inhabited by small groups of knights. Later on the castle was reconstructed, the large defensive tower was raised, and the upper stories. In 1576, the castle was acquired by Thies von der Recke from the Recke Dynasty, which went on to own the castle for almost 350 years.
In one of the oldest section’s of the castle, under the vaults of the knights’ dining room, the Medieval Pub of the Jaunpils Castle is located.

Jaunauce Palace - The Late Period of Classicism | Top Spot | Discover Latvia | Jaunauces pils
The toponym ‘Aucis’ or ‘Auce’ was already known in the pre-Livonian period. When in the Livonian Order State, Jaunauce was called Mazauce for approximately 150 years. In 1518 the Livonian Order master Plettenberg lent the region to Johan Koskull. From 1575 till 1671 Jaunauce belonged to the dukes of the Kettler family. Duke Wilhelm established a congregation in 1612 and built a stone church. Duke Jacob renewed the Jaunauce (German: Neu-Autz) name; his substantial economic activity was useful to Jaunauce as well, providing a glass furnace and potassium brewery.
In 1804 Jaunauce Manor was acquired by count Karl von Medem, (1762-1827, one of the members of the Medem family of the Courland duchy noblemen, the son of Reichsgraf Johann Friedrich von Medem. Karl Medem owned Remte, Viesāti, Kapeļi and many other smaller manors; he was the Courland Knighthood deputy – cavalier of all the highest orders of the Russian Empire. Karl’s sister Dorothea von Medem was the wife of Peter, the last duke of Courland.
With Jaunauce Manor being acquired by the Medem family, a period of upsurge began in the manor. Extensive construction work of household buildings took place.
Jaunauce Manor structure is an architectural monument of19th century state importance. 12 buildings and a park have been preserved till modern times. The most beautiful building of the Manor structure is the manor house or the palace. Architecture style: Empire style, the late period of classicism. The architect is unknown.

Slokenbekas Manor - Original Cultural Monument | Top Spot | Discover Latvia | Šlokenbekas muiža
The Šlokenbeka Manor ensemble is among the most unique and original cultural monuments in Latvia. It is one of very few fortified medieval manor samples in the Baltic States and the only one in Latvia, which has preserved up to the modern times.
The Slokenbeka Manor is located in Milzkalne, on the banks of River Slocene, just 5 km from Tukums. The ensemble is home to the Latvian Road Museum, it also houses a hotel and a culture centre.

Pēdējos 50 gadus ēkā atradās Straupes narkoloģiskā slimnīca, bet no 2018.gada sākuma pili apsaimnieko Pārgaujas novada pašvaldība, kas ir atradusi iespēju pils durvis atvērt tūristiem. Lielstraupes pils ir vienīgā pils Latvijā, kas vienā būvapjomā ietver arī baznīcu. Ceļojums cauri abām ēkām ir aizraujošs stāsts par laikiem - no senākajiem līdz pat šodienai.

Gotiskā Limbažu pils bija Rīgas arhibīskapa pils, taču 1223. gads (avotos pirmo reizi minēti Limbaži) kā pils celšanas gads nav dokumnetāri pamatojams. No 1359. līdz 1479. ga pili okupēja ordenis. 16. gadsimta pirmās puses dokumentos Limbažu pils pieminēta kā arhibīskapa pavasara mītne - bīskaps pilī dzīvojis no Sveču dienas (2. februāra) līdz Vasarsvētkiem (maija beigas vai jūnija sākums). Bet 14.-15. gadsimta senrakstos parādās fakts, ka arhibīskaps mēdza pilī uzturēties arī citos gadalaikos. Livonijas kara sākumā pili dedzināja krievu karaspēks. 1567. gadā pilsētai uzbruka zviedri, 1576. gadā pilij uzbruka hercogs Magnuss. No 1582. gada Limbaži kļuva par poļu stārastijas centru. 1602. gadā zviedri nojauca pils nocietinājumus, kurus vēlāk neatjaunoja. 1621. gadā Zviedrijas karalis Gustavs II Ādolfs Limbažu pili ar muižu atdāvināja Rīgas pilsētai, kurai pils piederēja līdz 1783. gadam. 1668. gadā veiktajā inventarizācijā ir minēts, ka pilij jau ir sabrukušas sienas, bet atsevišķas telpas tiek vēl apdzīvotas un izmantotas par noliktavu. Tajā laikā pils pagalmā bija jau uzceltas koka dzīvojamās mājas un saimniecības ēkas. 18. gadsimta beigās virs zemes visā augstumā bija saglabājušies tikai divi pils korpusi, kuri izmantoti par noliktavām līdz pat II Pasaules karam. Pēckara gados abiem korpusiem iebrucis jumts, iegāzušās velves un sagruvušas arī vairākas sienas. 19. gs. uz nojauktās sienas pamatiem uzbūvēja muižas magazīnu, kuras vietā 20. gadsimtā uzcēla saimniecības ēku. No 1999.-2000. g. tiek veikti pils mūru nostiprināšanas un konservēšanas darbi.

Let me present Lielstraupe Castle. Since 1963 this was the narcology hospital. Closed since 31.12.2017. Now there is a museum and Lutheran church. Finally, I stopped and captured it from the drone.

Liechtenstein is a tiny (160 km² / 62 mi²) country between Switzerland and Austria but despite its size, it has plenty of charm with its majestic mountains and medieval castles dating back to 12th century. Liechtenstein is also a perfect stopover place if you are driving between Switzerland and Austria.
Gutenberg Castle is an intact castle in the town of Balzers, Liechtenstein, in the centre of the municipality of Balzers, the southern-most municipality in the country. Gutenberg is one of the five castles of the principality and one of two that have survived intact until the present day. The bailey is open to visitors free of charge throughout the whole year. The castle chapel and rose garden are open to visitors free of charge every Sunday from 10.00 a.m. until 5.00 p.m. between 1 May and 31 October.
Vaduz Castle is the palace and official residence of the Prince of Liechtenstein. The castle gave its name to the town of Vaduz, the capital of Liechtenstein, which it overlooks from an adjacent hilltop. Note that Vaduz castle is a private area and therefore cannot be visited, also flying drone near Vaduz is prohibited.

В январе 1919 года Кристиан был арестован большевиками. Его взяли в Дундагском замке, который он не хотел добровольно оставлять. Потом Кристиана вместе с ректором Мольтрехтом, пастором Дундаги, перевезли в Тукумс. Там их расстреляли. Последний хозяин Дундаги был захоронен в общей могиле, вместе с другими жертвами большевиков.
Легенды:
Однажды хозяин Дундаги фон Майделл ехал в деревню Ирбе. На перекрестке около Слитере (деревня к северу от Дундаги) он встретил коронованное сияющее привидение - царя гномов, жившего в пещере Давида в девственном лесу Слитере. Гном попросил об услуге - жениться на принцессе гномов в часовне Дундагского замка и отпраздновать свадьбу в Зале рыцарей. Если бы никто из смертных этого не увидел, у хозяина Дундаги родился долгожданный сын - пока только дочери. Он получит также сокровища, спрятанные под одним из камней замка.
Хозяин согласился на это. Перед свадьбой всем жителям замка сказали, что они должны сидеть в своих комнатах и ??никому не разрешается выходить.
Горничная хозяйки замка получила прозвище Зеленая Дева из-за ее любви к зеленой одежде. Вечером в условленное время она вышла на балкон замка, чтобы предупредить своего нижнего, чтобы тот покинул замок. Молодой человек согласился на это и уехал к себе домой. Когда Зеленая Дева вернулась в свою комнату, она заметила огни в холле замка. Она сняла туфли и подкралась к двери холла. Сквозь замочную скважину она увидела длинные столы с едой, сверкающие посудой из драгоценных камней и хрусталя. За столами сидели маленькие люди, горели тысячи маленьких лампочек. Когда приехала супружеская пара, Зеленая Дева увидела невесту - словами не передать, какая она была красива! Молча, сама собой сказала - «О!» и немного вздохнул.
В этот момент в холле погас свет, произошел большой взрыв - весь замок снесен. Воцарилась мертвая тишина. Молодая девушка была найдена у дверей замка без сознания и вскоре скончалась.
Вскоре после этих трагических событий хозяин снова ехал в Ирбе и на перекрестке дорог у Слитере снова встретил царя гномов. Царь пришел в ярость и сказал:
«Ты не сдержал своего обещания, и проклятие призвано на замок Дундага! Семья Манделя погибнет вместе с тобой в Курляндии! другое - до тех пор, пока крошечная береза, растущая в стенах замка, не станет достаточно большой, чтобы стать ее колыбелью!
У домовладельца Мэйделла после несчастного недоразумения с гномами не было никаких потомков и истории, если его семья закончилась его смертью. Замок унаследовала его жена Анна Сибилла фон Остен-Сакен - и, таким образом, теперь он принадлежал семье Остен-Сакенс. Но у Остен-Сакенса тоже не было детей, и замок унаследовали их дальние родственники. В 1845 году умер Карл фон Остен-Сакен, а вскоре и его младший брат Теодор. Когда в 1872 году в замке произошел пожар, сгорели интерьеры всех помещений. Кроме одного - Оружейная палата уцелела. В этой комнате хранился каменный идол с городища Пуискалнс - его привезли сюда, чтобы остановить тайные языческие ритуалы вокруг этого камня в его первоначальном удаленном месте.

It is located at the confluence of the Alekshupite River in Ventu, about 150 km west of Riga.

В 1355 году городу дарован герб с изображением Святой Екатерины. Возникший вокруг замка Гольдинген город в 1378 году был наделён городскими правами и вступил в Ганзейский союз. For the first time Kuldiga is mentioned in written sources in 1242. In the same year, the castle of Goldingen was incorporated into the Teutonic Order by Dietrich von Grüningen. In 1355 the city was given a coat of arms with the image of St. Catherine. The city around Goldingen Castle in 1378 was endowed with city rights and joined the Hanseatic League. In 1596, there was one of the residences of the Courland Dukes, until 1616 is the capital of Courland [4].
