Sri Gurappa Swamy Kona is situated at Milavaram Mandal, Jammalamadugu Taluk, Jammalamadugu, Kadapa district, Andhra Pradesh 516439, India. We need to travel 15kms from Jammalamadugu to reach Sri Gurappa Swamy Kona. On the way, we can have a beautiful view of Mylavaram Dam. One can enjoy beautiful water falls beside the temple. The deity, Sri Gurappa Swamy is regarded as Home God for many people. Devotees prepare prasadam (Sweet rice) individually and offer to the God. Rooms are also available for the devotees for night halt and for resting. The back side of the temple we can have a view of Turakala Lake. There is another temple of Goddess, Sri Gangamma Thalli. We can find shops opened on Mondays only. Monday is the best time to visit this temple. People believe that Monday is the only special day for the Lord, Sri Gurappa Swamy. We can find many people flocking this temple from far away places on Mondays only. But, other day Pooja is offered and we can find few people casually visiting.There is a playing park for children. Chandrayudu Kona | చండ్రాయుడు కోన | Lingapuram | Jammalamadugu
There are many caves and water bodies in surrounding hills of Jammalamadugu. One such place is Chandrayudu Kona. This is popular among local people for spending time with Chicken parties.
Here we can find cave and inside that many rocks are worshipped as Chennakesava Swami or Chandrayudu. There is a flowing water in-front of this cave temple which merges with Pennar river near Gandikota Dam.

Flying over India's Grand Canyon gorge and Gandikota Fort in Andhra Pradesh

Gandikota is a small village on the right bank of the river Pennar, 15 km from Jammalamadugu in Kadapa district, Andhra Pradesh, India.
Gandikota was founded in 1123 by Kapa Raja of nearby Bommanapalle village and a subordinate of Ahavamalla Someswara I, the Western Chalukyan king of Kalyana. The town played a significant role during the Kakatiya, Vijayanagara and Qutub Shahi periods. The fort was made more impregnable by Pemmasani Thimma Nayudu. The fort was under the control of Pemmasani Nayaks for over 300 years.
The fort of Gandikota acquired its name due to the 'gorge' (in Telugu it is called 'gandi'), formed between the Erramala range of hills, also known as Gandikota hills and the river Pennar that flows at its foot, reducing its width to a mere 300 ft (see the river image below). Situated amidst beautiful landscape and wild forests, it is endowed with vast natural resources.
Surrounded by a deep valley and impassable hills & with massive boulders of red granite and the river Pennar that flows about 300 ft. below on the west and northern sides, its location affords strong natural defence to the occupants of the Fort. The exploits of Pemmasani Nayaks, Gothram : Musunulla, Rulers of Gandikota and Commanders in Vijayanagar army to protect the honour of Telugu land are well known.
Vemana, the famous Telugu poet, native of Kadapa district and believed to have lived in Gandikota area for a short period.
Efforts are being put to give Gandikota a world heritage status.
Gandikota was one of the greatest forts of south India in its heydays and so were the kings who ruled the region. Years after its formation, Gandikota fort was ruled by the Mikkilineni dynasty of Bharadwaja gotra who belonged to a clan of Kamma lords. Kammas were kings belonging to the Solar, lunar and Haihaya clans of Kshatriyas and were said to be ferocious in nature. The kings of Gandikota were equally famous and said to be so powerful, that they could severe the heads of a horseman and the horse with a single stroke of the sword. The location of the fort and the security it offered attracted most of the enemy kings for conquering.

జమ్మలమడుగు దగ్గర దానవులపాడు పెద్ద జైన క్షేత్రంగా ఉండేదని చాలా మందికి తెలిసిన విషయం. అక్కడ అర్కియాలజీ వాళ్ళు చేసిన త్రవ్వకాలలో దొరికిన జైన మత శిల్పాలు ప్రస్తుతం మద్రాస్ మ్యూజియంలో ఉన్నాయి. దానవులపాడు పార్శ్వనాథుని గుడి ప్రస్తుతం కేంద్ర పురాతత్వ శాఖ ఆధీనంలో ఉంది. రాష్ట్రకూటుల కాలంలో ఎక్కువ ప్రాచుర్యం పొందిన క్షేత్రం దానవులపాడు.
తర్వాత జమ్మలమడుగు పక్కన దొమ్మరనంద్యాల లో జైన మతస్తులు ఉండే వారని చరిత్ర చెప్తోంది. ఇప్పుడు కూడా ఆ ఊరి శివాలయం ద్వారబంధం మీద జైన తీర్థంకరుని శిల్పం మనం గమనించవచ్చు. ఇదే ఊర్లో దొరికిన ఇంకో తీర్థంకరుని విగ్రహం ప్రస్తుతం మైలవరం మ్యూజియంలో ఉంది. ఇంకా ఆ ఊర్లో ఒక వ్యవసాయ బావి లో గోడలకి చాలా జైన శిల్పాలు తెల్ల రాతివి ఉండేవంట. ఆ బావి ఇప్పుడు ఆనవాళ్ళు లేకుండా పూడ్చేశారు. ఈ ఊర్లో దొరికిన శాతవాహన కాలం నాటి సీసపు నాణేలు, పెద్ద పెద్ద ఇటుకలు మైలవరం మ్యూజియంలో ఉన్నాయి.
తర్వాత, గండికోట లో ఒక జైన దేవాలయం ఉంది. జుమ్మా మసీదు వెనుక ఆ చిన్న జైన మందిరం, విజయనగర కాలం నాటిది. దొమ్మర నంద్యాల లాగా, ద్వార బంధం మీద జైన తీర్థంకరుడు అక్కడ చూస్తం. గర్భగుడిలో ఉందే జైన తీర్థంకరుడి విరిగిపోయిన విగ్రహం, గండికోట లోనే గోడౌన్ పక్కన ఉంది.
జమ్మలమడుగు విషయానికి వస్తే, నారాపుర వెంకటేశ్వర స్వామి గుడి, విజయనగర రాజుల కాలంలో కట్టించారు అని కైఫియత్ చెప్తోంది. ప్రౌఢదేవరాయల కొడుకు విజయదేవరాయలు, ఆయన భార్య నారాయణమ్మ ఇక్కడ బ్రాహ్మణులకి అగ్రహారం ఏర్పాటు చేసి, వెంకటేశ్వర స్వామి గుడి కట్టించారు.
మరి గుడిలో స్థంభాలకి జైన తీర్థంకరులు ఎలా అని అలోచిస్తే, అక్కడ కూడా మొదట జైన మందిరం ఉండి ఉండొచ్చు, కాలక్రమంలో శిథిలం అయితే, విజయనగర రాజులు ఆ గుడి స్థంభాలతోనే వైష్ణవ ఆలయం కట్టి ఉండొచ్చు అని అర్థం చేసుకోవచ్చు. హరగోపాల్ గారితో మాట్లాడినపుడు, ఈ స్థంభాలు రాష్ట్రకూట శైలిలో ఉన్నాయని తెలియచేశారు. జమ్మలమడుగు కూడా రాష్త్రకూటుల కాలంలో జైన మందిరం మంచి స్థితిలో ఉండేదని అర్థం చేసుకోవచ్చు.
మైలవరం డ్యాంలో మునిగిపోయిన దప్పల్లె ఊరి దగ్గర రాళ్ళకి జైన తీర్థంకరుల రేఖాచిత్రాలు ఉన్నాయి. నీళ్ళు బాగా తగ్గినపుడు వీటిని మనం చూడొచ్చు.
