Its story is told in the August Horch Museum – beginning with the production of Horch cars, to Audis, to the East German car, the Trabant. On her trip to Zwickau, Hannah Hummel discovers the city’s car history, as well as its art and cultural history. Both the composer Robert Schumann and the expressionist painter and printmaker Max Pechstein were born in Zwickau. Walking in CHEMNITZ / Germany ???????? - 4K 60fps (UHD)
Chemnitz / Germany is the 3rd largest city in Saxony, eastern Germany, with the former name name of Karl-Marx-Stadt during East-German times. Its huge Karl Marx Monument commemorates the socialist philosopher.
Chemnitz was an industrial center for textile production. The textile industry and much of the city was destroyed in March 1945 during thhe 2nd World war. The rebuilt city center consists of socialist modernist and blocky architecture.
In 2025 Chemnitz will be European Capital of Culture.
We start our walking tour at the Nischel which the Karl Marx monument is called by locals - mostly meaning something like (thick/dumb) head in local slang. This head is 7,10m tall and weighs around 40 tonnes. The proletarians of all countries unite! From the Communist Manifesto in German, English, French and Russian can be seen on the wall behind the monument.
Right away we we head over to the Stadthalle, where concerts and cultural events take place. Next to the Galerie Roter Turm a shopping mall - the red tower (Roter Turm) stands. The red tower is a remnant of the city's defensive walls.
On the market square with the old town hall Altes Rathaus a wine festival is taking place providing a good atmosphere on this warm summer evening. We heads towards the Rosenhof which is quiet now and return to the Mittelstandsmeile with more busy restaurants on our way out of the very center.
We walk towards the Markthalle and Luxor Filmpalast (a cinema and event hall) from where we get towards the Schlossteich. This little lake has some paddle boats and is a popular walking area.
Our tour now goes uphill to the Schloss Chemnitz where we have a view of the Schlossteich. The restaurant up there is also popular. We head down passing more restaurants and get into the quieter area called Brühl and towards the bus station. Soon we are at the main train station of Chemnitz, pass through the halls and walk towards the Opera house. The square isn't well visible tonight due to a concert so we move on.
Along the Straße der Nationen we get back to our starting point yet we go for another detour via Brückenstraße, Stefan Heym square and Johannis square before we end our tour right where we started - at the Karl Marx monument.

Winterwanderung vom kältesten Ort Deutschlands - Kühnhaide
Fahren wir also los zur Winterwanderung und um den kältesten Ort Deutschlands zu suchen und, liebe Freunde, wer geglaubt hat, jetzt geht es Richtung Alpen, der liegt völlig schief. Wir fahren ....genau, nach Kühnhaide bei Marienberg, und dort finden wir ihn nämlich, den kältesten Ort Deutschlands - Kühnhaide. An der Gaststätte zum Schwarzwassertal beginnt unsere Tour. Wer meine Touren regelmäßig verfolgt, der kann sich sicherlich daran erinnern, hier sind wir bereits einmal gelaufen, als wir versucht haben heraus zu finden, welches die schönste Wanderung im Erzgebirge ist. Heute wollen wir jedoch in eine andere Richtung laufen. In Richtung Rübenau, die genaue Tour will ich heute allerdings nicht beschreiben, dass hole ich in einem späteren Film nach. Lasst euch heute einfach von den schönen Winterimpressionen begeistern und verwöhnen.
Wenn ihr Spaß an unserer Winterwanderung hattet, dann würde ich mich natürlich über einen Daumen nach oben bzw über ein Abo freuen. Noch mehr würde mich aber ein Kommentar von euch interessieren, nämlich Hand aufs Herz - habt ihr gewusst wo der kälteste Ort Deutschlands liegt bzw wo ihr ihn gesucht hättet.

ZWICKAU, Germany ????????- 4K 60fps (UHD)
Zwickau is a city located in the eastern part of Germany in the state of Saxony. Zwickau is the fourth-largest city of Saxony after Leipzig, Dresden and Chemnitz that we all visited here on POPtravel.
Zwickau has a rich history dating back to the Middle Ages when it was an important trading center. Today, Zwickau is a medium-sized city with a population of around 90,000 people. It was also a center of the German textile industry during the 19th and early 20th centuries.
The notable German composer Robert Schuman was born in the house on the corner of Zwickau's main market square in 1810.
We start our walking tour right at the Robert Schuman monument. As we walk through the city, we will see both the historical and modern aspects of Zwickau. There are many beautiful buildings in the city center, such as the Gothic-style St. Mary's Church, which dates back to the 15th century, and the Renaissance-style town hall, which was built in the 16th century.
We circle the city center, get out to the Schwanenteichpark in the western side of the city. Walking back to the city center we also see some street art. Our tour leads again through the city's streets towards to the Zwickauer Mulde on the eastern side of the city center. We walk a bit on the Muldenpromenade before we end our tour near our starting point - at Zwickau's market square.

1. Ostdeutsches Waldlabyrinth (Borstendorf Waldlabyrinth am Schachwanderweg)
Das 1. ostdeutsche Waldlabyrinth findet ihr am Rand von Borstendorf am Schachwanderweg, genau genommen im Röthenbacher Wald. Ob von Borstendorf, Eppendorf oder aus dem Flöhatal, es ist gut in viele verschiedene Wanderungen einzubauen. Beispielsweise kann man auch den neu eröffneten Bambini-Wanderweg benutzen. Im Waldlabyrinth selbst ist natürlich verirren und wirren Trumpf. Damit das auch noch richtig Spaß macht, sind verschiedene Stationen, Attraktionen, tolle Quiztafeln zum Thema Schach und zum Thema Wald auf dem 1,2 Kilometer langen Weg zu finden. Am Ziel angekommen, findet ihr die Ruheinsel. Nach dem Spaß beim Suchen kann man hier Kindergeburtstage feiern, Schulklassen können es als grünes Klassenzimmer nutzen, Hort- oder Familienausflüge sind möglich und für vieles andere mehr kann diese herrliche Anlage genutzt werden. Eine Großstadt auf dem Vulkan - Zeisigwald und Chemnitz - Ausflugsziele Chemnitz
Eine Großstadt auf dem Vulkan - Zeisigwald (einer der schönsten Ausflugsziele von Chemnitz) wollen wir uns heute näher anschauen. Denn im Zeisigwald von Chemnitz befand sich vor 291 Millionen Jahren tatsächlich ein Vulkan. Bei seinem Ausbruch kam kein Magma, keine Lava, sonder Asche. Somit befinden sich teilweise 90 Meter mächtig Ascheablagerungen hier im Chemnitzer Raum. In deren Folge bildete sich der Chemnitzer Stein, der vielfarbige Porphyrtuff von Chemnitz. Nachdem dieser Stein entdeckt wurde, richtete man im Raum des Zeisigwaldes einen Tagebau ein und beutete diesen 700 Jahre lang aus. Unter anderem fand man dabei den Steinernen Wald, welchen wir im heutigen Tietz bewundern können. Nachdem kein Abbauwürdiges Gestein mehr zu finden war, schufen unsere Vorväter und Vormutter mit ihrer Hände Arbeit den Zeisigwaldpark, als Naherholungsgebiet mit Schwimmbädern, Rodelbahnen, Eislaufbahnen, mehreren Gaststätten und vielen anderem mehr. Vieles davon ist leider mit den Jahren kaputt gegangen und in Vergessenheit geraten, besonders in den letzten 30 Jahren. Dennoch, wer mit offenen Augen oder einer Führung durch Steffen Thränert unterwegs ist, der kann jede Menge spannende Historie entdecken.

Ich möchte euch mitnehmen zu einer Wanderung zwischen Hohenfichte, mit seiner historischen überdachten Holzbrücke und der Priemsmühle bei Grünhainichen. Die absolute Ruhe ist DAS Highlight unseres Flöhatals. Zudem werde ich euch jede Menge aus der Geschichte unseres Tales erzählen. Von Denkmalen, die mysteriös verschwunden sind, wie die Papierfabrik mit ihrer interessanten Feld- und Lorenbahn diesen Abschnitt geprägt hat. Was es mit dem Ascheberg auf sich hat. Auch von Lohe und der Lohmühle wird die Rede sein und selbstverständlich darf Karl Stülpner – der Robin Hood des Erzgebirges hier nicht fehlen. Und selbst Kamele und andere exotische Tiere könnt ihr unserem Flöhatal finden.
The unknown beauty - The Flöha belongs to the unknown, yet beautiful rivers in the Erzgebirge. I would like to take you on a hike between Hohenfichte, with its historic covered wooden bridge and the Priemsmühle near Grünhainichen. The absolute silence is THE highlight of our Flöhatal. I will also tell you a lot about the history of our valley. About monuments that have mysteriously disappeared, such as the paper mill with its interesting field and lorry railway, which has left its mark on this section. What the ash mountain is all about. There will also be talk of Lohe and the Lohmühle and of course Karl Stülpner - the Robin Hood of the Ore Mountains cannot be missing here. La bellezza sconosciuta - Il Flöha appartiene ai fiumi sconosciuti ma belli dell'Erzgebirge. Vorrei portarvi a fare un'escursione tra Hohenfichte, con il suo storico ponte di legno coperto e il Priemsmühle vicino a Grünhainichen. Il silenzio assoluto è il punto culminante del nostro Flöhatal. Vi racconterò anche molto sulla storia della nostra valle. A proposito di monumenti misteriosamente scomparsi, come la cartiera con il suo interessante campo e il treno di camion ha plasmato questo tratto. Che cos'è la montagna di cenere. Si parlerà anche di Lohe e del Lohmühle e naturalmente di Karl Stülpner - il Robin Hood dei Monti Metalliferi non può mancare qui. Me gustaría llevarte de excursión entre Hohenfichte, con su histórico puente de madera cubierto y el Priemsmühle cerca de Grünhainichen. El silencio absoluto es lo más destacado de nuestro Flöhatal. También les contaré mucho sobre la historia de nuestro valle. Freibad Gablenz in Chemnitz
Zlin-42 + Zlin-43 InFormation over Germany
Since the weather conditions (Clouds & Visibility) did not allow a nice X-Country-Flight that day, a friend and I decided to have some fun and do a short formation flight over east germany with the good old Zlin planes. I started from Zwickau (EDBI) with one of the Z43 (4 seater) from our local Aeroclub to meet my friend 15 mins later in Chemnitz-Jahnsdorf (EDCJ), where he already preflighted the Z42 (2 seater) of their Aeroclub (the green plane). After a briefing we departed. Have a look at the nice views. Unfortunately I forgot a cable to connect Intercom to my Audio recorder to record ATC....nevertheless a great fun flight =D
And since I want some pictures of my plane, too, we wil definately do this again!
