5 Top Must See and Do in Stavanger, Norway #familyvlog #norway #pulpitrock

Sure! Here are five enjoyable activities for the whole family to visit and experience in Stavanger, Norway:

1. Take a Lysefjord Cruise and Experience Pulpit Rock: Embark on an unforgettable adventure by boarding an electric boat and setting sail from downtown Stavanger to the magnificent Lysefjord and Preikestolen (Pulpit Rock). This 3-3.5 hour cruise offers breathtaking views, takes you to Vagabond's Cave, where outlaws once sought refuge, and allows you to witness the awe-inspiring Preikestolen, famous for Tom Cruise's daring climb in Mission Impossible 6. Get up close to the majestic Hengjanefossen waterfall and enjoy encounters with goats at the summer pastures in Lysefjord. Keep your eyes peeled for sunbathing seals on the rocks.

2. Explore Stavanger Sentrum: Discover the vibrant heart of Stavanger in Stavanger Sentrum. Walk along Øvre Holmegate, a charming street adorned with brightly painted houses, and soak up the lively atmosphere at the ferry terminal and marina. Indulge in diverse dining options, ranging from Thai and Indian to Italian cuisine. Enjoy shopping at clothing and sporting goods stores. Don't miss the Norwegian Petroleum Museum, offering interactive exhibits that shed light on Norway's offshore oil industry. For panoramic views of the city and its surroundings, visit the Valberget lookout tower.

3. Wander through Norway's Most Colorful Street: Stroll down Øvre Holmegate, affectionately known as the Color Street (Fargegaten). Transformed in 2005 by a local hairdresser who aimed to create a vibrant environment, this street in the old shopping district of Stavanger boasts a kaleidoscope of colors and charming shops.

4. Visit the Valberg Tower: Explore the Valberg Tower (Valbergtårnet), a historic structure that served as the observation tower and residence for watchmen in Stavanger from 1850 to 1853. Designed by Chr. Grosch, the tower played a crucial role in alerting the town to fires.

5. Experience the Stavanger Maritime Museum: Immerse yourself in the rich maritime heritage of Stavanger at the Stavanger Maritime Museum. Admire beautifully restored ships, learn about seafaring life, and explore exhibits that highlight the city's deep connection to the sea.

These activities promise a memorable and enjoyable time for the entire family in Stavanger, Norway!

the ONLY hike that you MUST do in Ålesund

It's our 2nd day in Ålesund and it literally rainy and gloomy throughout the entire day.

However, it didn't dampen our spirits to hike all the way up to Aksla Viewpoint In Ålesund to have a bird's eye view of the entire city.

It was really spectacular and well worth the effort.
Honestly, the 418 steps were nothing. We did it in less about 20 minutes.

But to climb under a wet and cold condition (which made breathing a little more difficult), it was really quite a challenge. Not to mention with my heavy backpack with my gear and all.

Anyway, in case you're wondering where the fish & chips diner is in Ålesund , you can check out this link

Hiking to Preikestolen (Pulpit Rock) / Norway Travel Vlog #familyvlog #norway #pulpitrock

Rising high above the tranquil waters of Lysefjord, Preikestolen - also known as Pulpit Rock - is Norway's most iconic natural landmark. This towering cliff, which formed over 10,000 years ago, offers some of the most breathtaking views of Fjord Norway you'll ever see.

To reach the top of this majestic cliff, you'll need to embark on a moderate hike that takes you through some of the most stunning natural scenery in the region. The 8-kilometer or 5-mile hike takes about 4-5 hours round trip, and is sure to be an unforgettable experience.

As you make your way along the trail, you'll encounter a diverse range of terrain, including swampland, forests, and even stone stairways built by Nepalese sherpas. But the real reward comes when you finally reach the top of Preikestolen.

From this lofty perch, you'll be treated to panoramic views that stretch out as far as the eye can see. The rugged cliffs, tranquil fjord, and verdant forests all combine to create a truly awe-inspiring vista that you won't soon forget.

So if you're up for a challenging yet rewarding hike through some of Norway's most stunning natural scenery, be sure to add Preikestolen to your must-see list. This iconic landmark is sure to take your breath away!

How to avoid crowds at Preikestolen

The busiest months are June, July, and August. In summer, the busiest time of the day is usually between 8 am and 4 pm. The busiest days of the week are Saturday and Sunday. A sunny day in summer after a few days of rain is likely to be very busy.

From June 15 – August 15, it is recommended to hike in the late afternoon.

On the busiest days, the parking areas fill up and can be temporarily closed in the middle of the day. This is done to ensure safety and a good experience for all hikers. If you are stopped and turned around at the access road, you can spend some time in Jørpeland while waiting for the parking to reopen, normally after 2-3 hours.

Preikestolen can be hiked year-round. The Autumn months of September and October give great foliage. February and March can give you a “winter wonderland” experience. In April and May, the Lysefjord is wrapped in fresh spring colors, with the crowds still far away.

At the end of this amazing video, we're not only going to share our unforgettable experience hiking to Preikestolen, but we're also going to treat you to an exclusive walking tour of the charming Airbnb where we stayed. Trust us, it's the perfect place to kick back and relax after a day of exploring.

So join us on this wild ride, filled with stunning landscapes, heart-pumping hiking trails, and a cozy home away from home. Don't miss out on the magic of Jørpeland, Norway, and discover why it's the ultimate destination for adventurers like you!

Hit that subscribe button and prepare yourself for the trip of a lifetime. We'll see you soon!
