Rudaki Park in Dushanbe, Tajikistan

Dushanbe is recognized as the capital city of Tajikistan. With a population of more than 800,000 as of 2016, Dushanbe has been dubbed as the largest city in the country. Not only is Dushanbe noted for its population, it is also distinguished due to its stunning attractions which are worth sightseeing.

One of the first destinations in Dushanbe that you could visit when you are in Dushanbe is the Rudaki Park. It is an extensive park in Dushanbe is noted for its stunning canopy of mature trees. This park offers a series paths alongside fountains and lakes and through flower gardens. The park is home to the Statue of Rudaki, a much-photographed attraction in the park - and a giant flagpole. The Rudaki Park also offers a brilliant view of the iconic buildings and monuments of Dushanbe. Because of this, the park has become an interesting location for picnics and snowy vistas.

Rudaki Park, in the heart of Dushanbe, is a peaceful abode and popular for sunshine in winter and shade in the summer. Famous statues of the Persian poet Rudaki exist here and the park can be filled on cool summer evenings or warm winter days. THis cacahge was placed with care to aviod the eyes of muggles and gardners.

Rudaki Park - located mid-way along the avenue of the same name - is a massive park with labyrinth-like walking paths through beds of blooming flowers. Benches line the walkways, often occupied by families or affectionate young couples looking for privacy. In the center of the grounds, a beautiful fountain splashes in front of a statue honoring the Persian poet Abu Abdollah Jafar ibn Mohammad, otherwise known as Rudaki. Tajikistan, as part of the original Persian empire, has many ties to Persia, including the language and likes to claim many Persian poets as it's own.

On the sides of the park are numerous government buildings. To the northwest looms a massive flag -- once the world's tallest -- flapping in the wind and which makes a great stop if you're passing through the city. The tall Somoni statue nearby is worth a visit.

Tajikistan (/tɑːˈdʒiːkɪstɑːn/ (About this soundlisten), /tə-, tæ-/; Tajik: Тоҷикистон [tɔdʒikisˈtɔn]), officially the Republic of Tajikistan (Tajik: Ҷумҳурии Тоҷикистон, Jumhurii Tojikiston) is a mountainous, landlocked country in Central Asia with an area of 143,100 km2 (55,300 sq mi)[5][6][7] and an estimated population of 9,275,828 people.[8] It is bordered by Afghanistan to the south, Uzbekistan to the west, Kyrgyzstan to the north, and China to the east. The traditional homelands of the Tajik people include present-day Tajikistan as well as parts of Afghanistan and Uzbekistan.

The territory that now constitutes Tajikistan was previously home to several ancient cultures, including the city of Sarazm[14] of the Neolithic and the Bronze Age, and was later home to kingdoms ruled by people of different faiths and cultures, including the Oxus civilisation, Andronovo culture, Buddhism, Nestorian Christianity, Zoroastrianism, Manichaeism and Islam. The area has been ruled by numerous empires and dynasties, including the Achaemenid Empire, Sasanian Empire, Hephthalite Empire, Samanid Empire, Mongol Empire, Timurid dynasty, the Khanate of Bukhara, the Russian Empire, and subsequently the Soviet Union. Within the Soviet Union, the country's modern borders were drawn when it was part of Uzbekistan as an autonomous republic before becoming a full-fledged Soviet republic in 1929.[15]

On 9 September 1991, Tajikistan became an independent sovereign nation when the Soviet Union disintegrated. A civil war was fought almost immediately after independence, lasting from 1992 to 1997. Since the end of the war, newly established political stability and foreign aid have allowed the country's economy to grow. Like all other Central Asian neighbouring states, the country, led by President Emomali Rahmon since 1994, has been criticised by a number of non-governmental organizations for authoritarian leadership, lack of religious freedom, corruption and widespread violations of human rights.

Tajikistan is a presidential republic consisting of four provinces. Most of Tajikistan's population belongs to the Tajik ethnic group,[16] who speak Tajik (a dialect of Persian). Russian is used as the inter-ethnic language. While the state is constitutionally secular, Islam is practiced by 98% of the population. In the Gorno-Badakhshan Oblast of Tajikistan, despite its sparse population, there is large linguistic diversity where Rushani, Shughni, Ishkashimi, Wakhi and Tajik are some of the languages spoken. Mountains cover more than 90% of the country. It has a transition economy that is highly dependent on remittances, aluminium and cotton production. Tajikistan is a member of the United Nations, CIS, OSCE, OIC, ECO, SCO and CSTO as well as an NATO PfP partner.

TAJIKISTAN AS A PARADISE IN THE EYES! TAJIKISTAN Paradise? We Live There! New movie 2020 4K

Tajikistan Tourism
Tourism in Tajikistan offers travelers a wide variety of inspiring natural landscapes, with mountain peaks, alpine meadows, and clear lakes, plus modern cities and ancient ruins that were once part of lost civilizations. Combine interesting excursions to Penjikent, Khujand, Istaravshan and Dushanbe with active adventures in the Pamir Mountains.

Adventure Tourism
Those who love adventure and action will most surely love Tajikistan’s tourism options. Trekking and more in the Pamir and Fann Mountains will leave you with lifelong memories.
A trip along the Pamir Highway is certain to be a hit. This mountain highway connects the Pamir Mountains with Khorog, in Tajikistan, and Osh, in Kyrgyzstan. The highway covers a total of 1,325 km (825 miles), traveling along the borders with Afghanistan and China and reaching a high point at Ak-Baytal Pass, at 4,655 m (15,272 feet) above sea level. The Pamir Mountains are famous for their beautiful valleys and colorful mountain villages, where the lifestyle and traditions have been preserved until the modern day. Enjoy mountain vistas during the day, and bright starry skies at night.
You can also take a trip to the Gissar Range, and enjoy a day (or more) on the shores of Iskanderkul, a gorgeous alpine lake named after Alexander the Great. The great warrior rested here with his army, next to the turquoise and dark lilac waters. Or take a hike through the Famm Mountains, with their own hidden lakes and spots.
An extra special part of tourism in Tajikistan is devoted to the national parks that protect this region’s endangered plants and animals. From snow leopards to birds of prey to rich juniper forests, Tajikistan offers the perfect setting for an adventure.
Health Tourism
Tajikistan even has options for those who want to take care of their health. The Garm Chashma Hot Springs, not far from Khorog, has hot springs that reach 64 degrees C (150 F), and so many people swear by the mineral water that pilgrims often say that it is holy. The sanatorium offers services said to help with problems related to skin, muscles, bones, breathing, reproduction, and the cardiovascular system. Other mineral springs, including Khosguni, Chursh, and Zund produce carbonated water that can be used as a treatment.
Health Tourism
Cultural-Historical Tourism
Even without visiting the many stunning natural places in Tajikistan, this country is still rich in historical and cultural sights. Tajikistan itself is an ancient state, home to Sogdiana and Bactria, and conquered by Alexander the Great and the Russian Empire. From fortresses to Buddhist temples to mosques and madrassas, Tajikistan has plenty of stories to tell to those who will listen.
Khujand is a definite must-see in Tajikistan. Along with Bukhara and Samarkand, Khujand was once a center of science and culture in Central Asia, and many monuments from this golden age remain to this day. Visit the mausoleum of Sheikh Muslikhiddin and the Masjidi Jami Mosque, as well as the fortress built in Khujand’s inner city over 2,500 years ago.
Penjikent, sometimes known as the Pompeii of Central Asia, is another spectacular sight. The ancient ruins of the city were once a bustling metropolis, until the population was resettled after the Arab invasion in the 8th century. The current city, nearby, is still home to a buzzing bazaar, and historical monuments that make imagining ancient life a little easier.
The Gissar Historical-Cultural Reserve is home to a number of famous places, including the Gissar fortress, the Sangin Mosque, the Mausoleum of Makhdumi A’zam, and others. Or head to Khorog for its unique botanical garden, the highest in the former Soviet Union.

I am Grace on Tour and travel has been my biggest passion ever since I can remember. My very first international trip was done two weeks after I was born. In the summer of 2018 I started posting on this channel as I set off on a trip around Asia before studying a semester in Taiwan. During this time my love for travel grew and I tried to travel to new places during my weekends off from university. Throughout uni I made travel a priority and worked multiple side jobs to fund my travels. After doing my thesis in Hong Kong I graduated in June 2019. At this point I decided to take a gap year and go traveling. My goal was to visit as many countries as possible. I soon realized that travel is what I love and wan´t to keep on doing. The INCREDIBLE ISKANDERKUL - TAJIKISTAN - The Way Overland - Episode 74

With the Troopy greased up and the fridge stocked, we said goodbye to the lush green spring city that is Dushanbe and headed North.

The road northbound hugs the mostly raging Varzob river as it winds up the valley through the towering Fann mountains. The road surface here is great compared to the previous several hundred kilometres and in places is perfect freshly laid hot-mix. Leaving the valley floor we passed through countless avalanche protection tunnels before we reached the big one, the notorious “tunnel of death” or if you prefer the less dramatic official name - The Anzob Tunnel. Perched at around 2700m the 5km tunnel cuts through the mountain range to create a connection between North and South Tajikistan without having to cross through Uzbekistan. Something which wasn’t possible until the tunnel was open again in 2015. The tunnel originally opened in 2006 though almost immediate remedial works on the road surface and construction resulted was required resulting in it not being reopened to the public for years. The tunnel was awarded the grim name by locals due to the lack of ventilation, dim lighting, and less then ideal road conditions. Living up to its name we were met with huge water filled potholes, pollution so thick you could only clearly see maybe 20 metres at best, and zero lighting in places besides the dim oncoming headlights of other vehicles. With no emergency stopping bays, or phones to call Tunnel Control for a tow, the worst situation possible would be to break down in the tunnel. Apart from not being able to see theres’s also the risk of carbon monoxide poisoning and/or being ‘collected’ by one of the many Chinese freight trucks. Given the road conditions, seeing someone in this predicament is not an uncommon sight. The Troopy however gobbled up the adverse road surface and we made it out the other side and into fresh air in one piece.

The plan once on the other side of the range was to head to Alauddin Lakes. On the way however there is a much more popular lake known as Iskanderkul. We decided, seeing we were in the area and didn’t know when we would be back, to take the 25km drive up the side valley to Iskanderkul at least for a night. Iskanderkul is named after Alexander the Great, Iskander being Alexander in Persian and Kul or Kol being lake in Turkic. It’s said that Alexander and his army stopped here around 2300 years ago on his way to India. When awe arrived we ventured nearly completely around the lake and down a ‘fun’ track to a nice level pad with a great view; a perfect spot to set up camp. The weather was less then favourable on our arrival so Jolie whipped up some pasta for dinner and we bunkered down for the night to wait for the better weather due to arrive the next day. The following morning we weren’t disappointed when we woke to a beautiful clear blue sky day with the bright turquoise lake glistening in the sun and the birds chirping.

We enjoyed the scenery and solitude for a few hours before packing up camp and doubling back around the lake to the Iskanderkul waterfall otherwise known as “Fann Niagara”. The 40 odd meter waterfall flows from Iskanderkul lake with a huge amount of force creating a deafening sound and strong wind as it carves out the cliff faces. The fall itself is tucked in a bit of an awkward position to see so a viewing platform has been constructed which juts out from the cliff face to give a better angle. The platform looks like it dates from the Soviet era, supported by some I-Beams, with round steel tubing spaced about 2 inches apart for the platform. It gives a great sensation of standing on top of the falls though took a little while for some of us to muster the courage to take the walk to the edge.

With Iskanderkul off the list we were back to the original plan and on the road to Allaudin Lakes. Catch the next episode where we explore this crystal clear lakes.

Tajikistan Travel vlog

I've been doing a travel tour in the West of Tajikistan in a minivan crossing the Fann Mountains

From Khujand in the North to Penjikent in the West, visiting Istaravshan and Iskanderkul Lake.

Khujand :

First I visited the Sugd Historical Museum that covers the history of the region from the stone age to independence. There is a room with beautiful mosaic displaying the life of Alexandre The Great who conquered the city of Khujand.
Just outside the museum there is a park with at the end of it a monument with all the major writers and poets of the Persian literature.
Next stop was the Panshanbe bazaar in the city center where they mainly sell food (fruit, vegetables, meat, bread, seeds, oils etc,…).
A part of this market is outside, the other part inside. It’s location is on the main city square with a Mosque at the opposite side of it. Next to the square there is a War monument remembering the deaths of the 2nd World War. Many Tadjiks also served in the Sovjet army during the war.

Tajikistan | Travel Diary | 2016

In September 2016 we took a spontaneous trip to Central Asian country of Tajikistan, which is less than 3 hours flight from Dubai. We only had two days, spending one of them exploring the capital, Dushanbe, and the second one driving out to the Hissar Fortress and into the Fann mountains to Iskanderkul, one of the most famous lakes in the country. Beautiful trip and with almost no tourism yet.

Tajikistan (/tɑːˈdʒiːkɪstɑːn/ (About this soundlisten), /tə-, tæ-/; Tajik: Тоҷикистон, Russian: Таджикистан, romanized: Tadzhikistan), officially the Republic of Tajikistan (Tajik: Ҷумҳурии Тоҷикистон, romanized: Jumhurii Tojikiston), is a landlocked country in Central Asia. It has an area of 143,100 km2 (55,300 sq mi) and an estimated population of 9,537,645 people. Its capital and largest city is Dushanbe. It is bordered by Afghanistan to the south, Uzbekistan to the west, Kyrgyzstan to the north and China to the east. The traditional homelands of the Tajik people include present-day Tajikistan as well as parts of Afghanistan and Uzbekistan.

The territory that now constitutes Tajikistan was previously home to several ancient cultures, including the city of Sarazm[16] of the Neolithic and the Bronze Age and was later home to kingdoms ruled by people of different faiths and cultures, including the Oxus Valley Civilisation, Andronovo Culture, Buddhism, Nestorian Christianity, Hinduism, Zoroastrianism, Manichaeism and Islam. The area has been ruled by numerous empires and dynasties, including the Achaemenid Empire, Sasanian Empire, Hephthalite Empire, Samanid Empire and the Mongol Empire. After being ruled by the Timurid dynasty and the Khanate of Bukhara, the Timurid Renaissance flourished. The region was later conquered by the Russian Empire and subsequently by the Soviet Union. Within the Soviet Union, the country's modern borders were drawn when it was part of Uzbekistan as an autonomous republic before becoming a full-fledged Soviet republic in 1929.[17]

On 9 September 1991, Tajikistan became an independent sovereign nation as the Soviet Union disintegrated. A civil war was fought almost immediately after independence, lasting from 1992 to 1997. Since the end of the war, newly established political stability and foreign aid have allowed the country's economy to grow. The country has been led by President Emomali Rahmon since 1994 who rules an authoritarian regime, as there is extensive corruption and widespread violations of human rights, including torture, arbitrary imprisonment, worsening political repression, and a lack of religious freedom and other civil liberties.
