The Ice Run | A Brief Guide
- 2,500km on frozen rivers through Siberian wilderness on old school Ural motorbikes with sidecars to the Arctic Circle.
The Ice Run begins in the birth place of the Ural - Irbit and ends in the North Siberian town of Salekhard, the only town in the world built on the Arctic Circle. How you get between these two points is up to you.
The Ice Run takes place in the depths of the Siberian winter where temperatures can drop as low as -50°C. At this temperature your bare skin freezes instantly to metal.

Вот уже более 10 лет на Северном Урале, вблизи перевала Дятлова, команда испытателей завода ИМЗ совершенствует русский мотоцикл с коляской Ural Gear UP. В этом году партнеры и друзья Ирбитского завода решили присоединиться и попробовать свои силы в преодолении этого маршрута. Что с нами произошло на перевале Дятлова вы увидите в полнометражном фильме ПОЕХАЛИ перевал Дятлова.
Премьера состоится 14 ноября 2020 года на выставке «Поехали» в Экспоцентре.

For more than 10 years in the Northern Urals, near the Dyatlov pass, a team of testers from the IMZ plant has been improving the Russian motorcycle with a Ural Gear UP sidecar. This year, partners and friends of the Irbit plant decided to join and try their hand at overcoming this route. You will see what happened to us at the Dyatlov Pass in the full-length movie LET'S GO: What happened at the Dyatlov pass?
The premiere will take place on November 14, 2020 at the Let's Go exhibition at the Expocentre.

The factory IMZ-Ural produced motorcycles since 1940. IMZ has produced more motorbikes then any other factory in the world. Das Ural Beiwagengespann habe ich auf einem Westernfest im Osten von Deutschland entdeckt. Ich war so beeindruckt davon das ich gleich gefilmt habe.
Firmengeschichte der Motorradmarke Ural aus Russland
Jahreablauf von 1939 bis zum Jahre 1969
Zu Beginn des Zweiten Weltkrieges wurde die Rote Armee auf die von der deutschen Wehrmacht verwendeten BMW-R-71-Motorradgespanne aufmerksam. Diese BMW Gespanne wurde von 1938 bis 1941 gefertigt. Dieses Gespann war mit einem Maschinengewehr und dem Beiwagen TR500 ausgerüstet. Aufgrund der Wendigkeit und Schnelligkeit hatte sich dieses Motorradgespann sehr bewähert. Das deutsche BMW Gespann war mit einem 750 Cubiccentimeter Seitenventilmotor motorisiert. Diese Kombination aus Gespann und Motor entsprach sehr gut den damaligen russischen Anforderungen, was dazu führte ,dass im Zuge des Hitler-Stalin Paktes die BMW Lizenz dafür vom damaligen Russland erworben wurde. Die deutsche BMW R-71 Produktion lief 1940 aus. Die russische Motorradforschung führte 1941 zum neuen russischen Motorradgespann Typ M-72. Die M-72 wurde lange Zeit bis zum Jahre 1957 in den Irbiter Motorradwerken hergestellt. Die russische Stadt Irbit, die 2011 ihr 70 jähriges Jubiläum im Motorradbau gefeierthat, ist eine russische Kleinstadt nahe dem Uralgebirge. Das M in der russische Stadt Irbit steht für das russische Wort Motorrad „Motozikl. Zu Beginn der Produktion war das Modell M-72 nur eine 1 zu 1 Kopie der BMW R71. Es stellte sich aber raus, das das Modell so nicht für schweres Gelände geeignet war. In der folge Zeit begann eine permanente Weiterentwicklung, die das Modell M72 an die Anforderungen des Einsatzbereiches anpasste. Dinge wie eine bessere stautauglichkeit wurde durch einen nun Ölgefüllten Luftfilter verbessert. Für einen einfacheren Radwechsel wurden die Schutzbleche neu konstruirt. da im Feldeinsatz Rahmenbrüche vorkamen wurden verstärkte Bleche an den hinteren Stossdämpferbefestigungen eingesetzt.

Our visit to Newfoundland The Rock on a Ural motorcycle
These are some of the places we explored while in Newfoundland. The Port au Port Peninsula, up to Springdale, over to Leading Tickles, Twillingate, Gander and then all the way east to Cape Spear! St John's was a lot of fun and the Terra Nova and Gros Morne National Parks are beautiful. We saw amazing ocean views, many moose (only got one pic), beach glass, a giant squid, airplanes at the Aviation Museum, icebergs, lighthouses, towers, sea cliffs, statues and lots and lots of trees. Got in lots of fantastic hikes. Hope you enjoy our cross country sidecar adventure on The Rock!
