Ingham, Queensland - 4K Ambient Walk

Ingham is a small town fairly close to Townsville. This 4K walking tour takes in the main street section of Ingham, which is the Bruce Highway, and features The Pub With No Beer.
I was stopping off on my way from Cairns to Townsville and it was a nice break to have a walk around this small town and capture some of its character in 4K.
The town has a population of less than 5,000 people and this is a relatively short 4K walking tour.
I hope you enjoy Ingham.

▶ Let's travel! My Blog:

This day promises to be unforgettable! I can't wait to see what waits for us. We start from Cairns and our first stop is Kuranda and a historic train station where time seems to stand still. From there we take the train, which still looks the same as when it was built. It smells of smoke and exhaust fumes and the wind blows through the open windows. I can hardly remember the time when you could open the windows in trains. Adventurous! As the train puffs its way into the green tunnel of the jungle, we learn all sorts of interesting stories, including being told that 80 workers died building the rail line through the jungle. The jungle looks really dense and the terrain rocky and inaccessible. It is unbelievable how it was possible to realise this project without modern machines.

The train struggles further up the mountain and the dense forest thins out. The view from up here is simply stunning. On the right side you can see into the infinite distance, on the left there is the waterfall to marvel at, which today is small compared to the days when it rained. I'm so fascinated by the view over the forest that I almost miss the waterfall. I just can't tear myself away from this sight.

The trip ends in a sleepy little village and we spontaneously decide to take a boat tour. There are crocodiles to see and a cassiowary! They are rare and ours comes very close to the boat. Our captain is not very happy about this because he knows much better than we do that these huge, primeval-looking birds can be very dangerous. We passengers are delighted, a cassiowary in the wild! Did you know that these animals are endangered and very rarely seen? They play a crucial role in the spread and preservation of the rainforest because they eat a certain type of seeds and spread them through their droppings.

From the water we can also see the famous Skyrail cable car that will take us back down to the valley later.

The Skyrail ride is stunning. The forest stretches to the horizon in all directions and it is magical to fly above the treetops. There are two stations where we get off and walk to the nearby observation deck. What a sight!

North Queensland or the Northern Region is the northern part of the state of Queensland in Australia that lies just south of Far North Queensland. Queensland is a massive state, larger than many countries, and the tropical northern part of it has been historically remote and undeveloped, resulting in a distinctive regional character and identity.
Townsville is the largest urban centre in North Queensland, leading it to be regarded as an unofficial capital[citation needed]. The region has a population of 231,628 and covers 80,041.5 km².[1]

There is no official boundary that separates North Queensland from the rest of the state. Unofficially it is usually considered to have a southern border beginning south of the Mackay Region southern boundary, but historically it has been as far south as Rockhampton. To the north is the Far North Queensland region, centred around Cairns and out west is the Gulf Country.

A coastal region centred around its largest settlement is the city of Townsville. The city is the location of a major seaport handling exports from mines in Mount Isa and cattle exports from coastal and inland areas. The region also contains a bulk sugar exporting terminal at Lucinda in the region's north. Mackay is Australia's sugar capital and produces the most sugar in Australia and is shipped at Mackay Harbour. Mackay is also one of Australia's biggest coal exporters as it is close to Queensland's major mines. Dalrymple Bay, south of Mackay is another port where coal and sugar is exported. It also contains the inland city of Charters Towers and the coastal towns of Ayr and Ingham.

Other Communities in North Queensland include Home Hill, Sarina, Bowen, Airlie Beach and Proserpine.

Throughout the years, there have been many calls for the formation of a new state. Many proposals have been drawn up, regarding the borders, name and the debate over which city will become the capital.[2]
