MOVING TO MEXICO LEGALLY - How we did it and how you can too...

Everything you need to know about temporary/permanent residency in Mexico, Mexican visas, & vehicle permits.
►Learn Spanish like us!

For information about services offered, attorneys fees, income requirements, Mexican visa processes, and more, check out our Lawyer's website:

In addition to the info in the video, you can also qualify for temporary residency by:
- Having a Mexican spouse
- Having a spouse who's already temporary or permanent resident.
- Having a child who is a temporary or permanent resident.
- Having a job offer in Mexico

Correction: There are some cases in which you aren't required to go to a consulate outside of Mexico (qualifying by family unity).

Correction: Vehicle permit fees are $50 + 200-400 deposit. You have 15 days, not 30, to extend your TIP, otherwise, you lose your deposit.

Correction: The Las Vegas Mexican consulate is no longer more lenient than others.

To become a permanent resident in Mexico, you don't necessarily need pension income if you have substantial investments or a large chunk of money in the bank. Some consulates have approved people under age 50, but others want you to be 60+.

This video give you a great start on what you need to know about:
- Mexico visa options
- What kind of passport you need
- Living legally in Mexico
- Pros and cons of the various Mexican visa options
- How to become a temporary resident
- Hot to become a permanent resident
- Costs associated with Mexican residency.
- Mexican immigration laws in 2018
- Booking an appointment at a Mexican consulate
- Which Mexican consulates are the best
- What you need to do after crossing the border into Mexico
- Getting a Temporary Import Permit, also known in Mexico as a TIP
- What a Mexican Free Zone is and where in Mexico you can drive without a Temporary Import Permit
- Legal Mexico immigration
- And More!

When we started this process of becoming a Mexican resident and moving to Mexico, we really didn't know what we were doing. But after a lot of research and going through the process ourselves, we think that we can provide you with a lot of valuable information on the topic.

Our Lawyer (helpful information about immigration):

ABOUT US (MADDIE & JORDAN)
In January 2018, we sold everything we owned in the US (except our husky Laska & what fit in our tiny, tangerine Prius C3) to travel the world—starting with Mexico. Since then, we've been making travel videos about our life in Mexico and the new experiences we encounter while traveling the world. JoLo World Vlog week 17 18 19: Mexico north (Sonoyta, Sinaloa - Mazatlán)

When we crossed the border from the USA to Mexico, those first two days driving through the dangerous north of Mexico were tense. We drove through chaotic and poor areas, military posts, deserted highways with just one suspicious car close to us, and a barricade we had to get through, in the middle of the highway. The barricade was by the people of a village and they wouldn’t let through any truck, just personal vehicles, but only if you payed them something. Several toll ports were also occupied by villagers, blocking them until you’d pay to them instead of the official toll agency (that wasn’t there, of course).
