American Polyglot Speaking over Fifty Languages

American Polyglot Speaking over Fifty Languages is about Kendrick Kaufman who is a rarity because he's an American polyglot. While traveling the world, he's always tried to pick up a phrase or two in the local language, and somehow, he's remembered many of them and uses them whenever possible. He's often asked by people who hear him switching between languages just how many languages he speaks. The truth is that he only views himself as fluent in English and Spanish; but also very proficient in Portuguese, Italian, and French; and able to survive in German and Indonesian. So, although he's a polyglot, he doesn't claim to be fluent in the other fifty plus languages that he speaks in this video.

All of the photographs were taken by me - Kendrick Kaufman. Maps were used when there were no personal photographs available.

Wikipedia:
Erzsébetváros ( Elizabethtown) is the 7th district of Budapest, situated on the Pest side of the Danube. The inner half of the district was the historic Jewish quarter of Pest. The Dohány Street Synagogue, the largest functioning synagogue in Europe, is located in this district. Currently it is the most densely populated district of Budapest with 29,681.3 person per km2. In 1910 Erzsébetváros had 152,454 inhabitants. During the socialist era Erzsébetváros's population decreased rapidly, because young people and families moved to the newer panelized boom districts. Gentrification and recovery started in the middle of the 2000s
The Dohány Street Synagogue (Hungarian: Dohány utcai zsinagóga / nagy zsinagóga; Hebrew: בית הכנסת הגדול של בודפשט, Bet ha-Knesset ha-Gadol shel Budapesht), also known as the Great Synagogue or Tabakgasse Synagogue, is a historical building in Erzsébetváros, the 7th district of Budapest, Hungary. It is the largest synagogue in Europe, seating 3,000 people and is a centre of Neolog Judaism.

The synagogue was built between 1854 and 1859 in the Moorish Revival style, with the decoration based chiefly on Islamic models from North Africa and medieval Spain (the Alhambra). The synagogue's Viennese architect, Ludwig Förster, believed that no distinctively Jewish architecture could be identified, and thus chose architectural forms that have been used by oriental ethnic groups that are related to the Israelite people, and in particular the Arabs. The interior design is partly by Frigyes Feszl.

The Dohány Street Synagogue complex consists of the Great Synagogue, the Heroes' Temple, the graveyard, the Memorial and the Jewish Museum, which was built on the site on which Theodor Herzl's house of birth stood. Dohány Street itself, a leafy street in the city center, carries strong Holocaust connotations as it constituted the border of the Budapest Ghetto

SHOES ON THE DANUBE BANK | Budapest, Hungary | The Fluffies Channel

Every time they have visited Budapest, Eric always told Christian that he wanted to see the shoe memorial by the Danube. In all his eight trips to Budapest, he has not seen the famous memorial. Well, they finally made it!

Shoes on the Danube Bank is a memorial in Budapest. Conceived by film director Can Togay, he created it on the east bank of the Danube River with sculptor Gyula Pauer to honor the people who were killed by fascist Arrow Cross militiamen in Budapest during World War II. It was installed in 2005.

People were ordered to take off their shoes at the edge of the Danube. They were then tied up in chains and a firing squad shot a few of the prisoners at close range in the back so that they fell into the river to be washed away. They did it here because it was easy to get rid of the bodies. Also, since they were tied up, fewer bullets were needed.

This was a common practice that occurred during 1944-1945.

There are 60 pairs of rusted shoes of the time period cast out of iron. The different sizes and styles show how nobody was spared: men, woman, children, elderly. Shoes were a huge commodity at the time.

“The shoes are attached to the stone embankment, and behind them lies a 40 meter long, 70 cm high stone bench. At three points are cast iron signs, with the following text in Hungarian, English, and Hebrew: To the memory of the victims shot into the Danube by Arrow Cross militiamen in 1944-45. Erected 16 April 2005. (Source: MTI, Saturday, April 16, 2005.)”

The most beautiful airport in the World, Pakyong Airport in Sikkim

Is this one of the world's most beautiful airports?
Is this one of the world's most beautiful airports?
India's 100th airport, inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the northern-eastern state of Sikkim on Monday, is arguably one of the world's most beautiful.

Sikkim, a tiny former kingdom in the Himalayas, is home to Kanchenjunga, the world's third-highest mountain. The state is connected to Tibet, Bhutan and Nepal through eight mountain passes.

The state's first airport at Pakyong, some 30km (18 miles) from the state capital, Gangtok, and carved out of a mountainside has been described as an engineering marvel
Some 60km from the border with China, the airport is located on top of a hill above Pakyong village at 4,500ft (1,371 metres) above sea level and it's spread across over 201 acres.
The airport is flanked by deep valleys at both ends of the 1.75km-long runway. It has two parking bays and a terminal building, which can handle about 100 passengers at a time.

Difficult topography and hostile weather conditions made this nine-year-long project extremely challenging and exciting, according to a spokesperson for Punj Lloyd, an Indian company which built the runway.Engineers say the main challenge was to carry out heavy earthwork construction at the site and lug equipment through narrow mountain roads. The weather - Sikkim gets monsoon rains from April to September - hindered work.

The hilly terrain and high seismicity were among some of the other challenges engineers faced on the rocky slopes. The entire airport, including the runway, has been built on land which was itself created by building an embankment wall as high as 263ft in deep valleys. Punj Lloyd says it is one of the tallest reinforcement walls in the world.Commercial flight operations from Pakyong will begin on 4 October.

The airport is expected to boost tourism to Sikkim, which is home to a number of peaks, glaciers and high altitude lakes.

2016 Amszterdam első rész / Amsterdam part one

Scroll down for English!

2016 nyarán volt/van szerencsém egy nagyobb nyaralásra menni, ennek az első helyszíne Amszterdam. Nyomokban villamost és metrót tartalmazhat :)

In 2016, I was/am lucky enough to take a bigger-than-usual (?) holiday. The first venue is Amsterdam. In this video, I talk only in Hungarian, but there are English subtitles for everything I say. Enjoy! It may contain trams and metros :)

Housing market in Warsaw

The housing market in Warsaw is booming with prices increasing by around one percent per month. However this could mean in time that no-one is going to want to live in socialist era housing.

My channel on you tube : is one of the most prolific from Poland, although unfortunately not the most visited. With almost one film per day, one may be forgiven for thinking I do nothing else but I do have a day job as well. I have produced more than 400 original films, most in English but also in Polish, French, Italian, Spanish and the occassional hint of German and Hebrew. My big interest in life is travel and history but I have also placed films on other subjects

Please feel free to ask questions in the public area or to comment on things you disagree with. Sometimes there are mistakes because I speak without preparation. If I see the mistakes myself, I make this clear in the text. Please also leave a star rating!

There are a number of films here on the packaging industry. This is because I am the publisher of Central and Eastern European Packaging -- - the international platform for the packaging industry in this region focussing on the latest innovations, trends, design, branding, legislation and environmental issues with in-depth profiles of major industry achievers. Most people may think packaging pretty boring but it possibly effects your life more than you really imagine!

Central and Eastern European Packaging examines the packaging industry throughout this region, but in particular in the largest regional economies which are Russia, Germany, Poland, Czech Republic, Ukraine and Austria. That is not to say that the other countries are forgotten, they are not, but obviously there is less going on. However the fact that there are so many travel related films here is not from holidays but from business trips attending trade fairs around the region and the sites and give a pretty good idea where future films are going to come from! Every packaging trade fair is a new excuse to make another film!

In 1997 I founded Polish Business News .There are a number of business related films here and I intend to do many more on CRM (customer relations management).

My blog can be found via and and contains background information and more details of many of my films. This information is in English.

I have also a second blog on the site . This site has been recently started by a friend and I think it will soon be one of the leading travel sites in Poland, if not Central Europe. It contains additional information about some of the places and events shown in these films but most of that is in Polish.

Europe 2007 Part 63 Around Olomouc

This is just a trip around Olomouc as part of a larger journey, however you can see some of this wonderful city in a playlist I did on Olomouc. Unless you are following the journey - see the playlist as it is a wonderful city.
Back on the road, the European Union has done wonders for the Czech Republic helping fund wonderful infrastructure although it was always good compared to other socialist countries (except Hungary).

My channel on you tube : is one of the most prolific from Poland, although unfortunately not the most visited. I have produced a number of films, most in English but also in Polish, French, Italian, Spanish and the occassional hint of German and Hebrew. My big interest in life is travel and history but I have also placed films on other subjects
