Anqing (prefecture-level city in Anhui Province)
Anqing City, also known as Yi, also known as Yicheng, is a prefecture-level city in Anhui Province. It is located in the southwest of Anhui Province. The total area is 1,3589.99 square kilometers, of which the urban area is 821 square kilometers. In 2019, Anqing City has 3 districts, 5 counties, and 2 county-level cities under its jurisdiction, with a permanent population of 4.723 million.
Anqing is one of the 27 cities in the central area of the Yangtze River Delta. It is a national-level historical and cultural city and is known as the Cultural State, The Hometown of Drama, and The Holy Land of Zen. It is the hometown of the Tongcheng School, the cradle of the growth of the Huiban, the originator of Peking Opera, and the place where Huangmei Opera was formed and developed. It is also the hometown of Chen Duxiu, the pioneer of the Chinese New Cultural Movement, Deng Jiaxian, the Two Bomb Heroes, and Zhang Henshui, the master of popular fiction. Ancient Anhui culture, Zen culture, drama culture and Tongcheng school culture complement each other here, forming a unique Anqing culture. The Anqing Nei Ordnance Institute founded by Zeng Guofan in the eleventh year of Xianfeng in the Qing Dynasty (1861) produced China's first steam engine and first motor boat. In December 2019, the Outline of the Yangtze River Delta Regional Integrated Development Plan positioned Anqing as a key city in the Yangtze River Delta region

Anqing City (安庆市), acclaimed as the Cradle of Huangmei Opera (黄梅戏之乡), is the center of the opera and enrich the Huangmei Songs into a real drama. Huangmei or Huangmei tone (Chinese: 黄梅戏 or 黄梅调, pinyin: Huángméixì or Huángméidiào) originated as a form of rural folk song and dance that has been in existence for the last 200 years and possibly longer. Huangmei opera is one of the most famous and mainstream opera in China (others are Beijing opera, Yue opera, Ping opera and Yu opera). The original Huangmei opera was sung by women when they were picking tea, and the opera was called the Picking Tea Song. In the late Qing dynasty, the songs came into Anhui Province— Huaining County adjacent regions, combined with the local folk art, Anqing dialect with singing and chants, and gradually developed into a newborn's operas. The music is performed with a pitch that hits high and stays high for the duration of the song. It is unique in the sense that it does not sound like the typical rhythmic Chinese opera. In the 1960s Hong Kong counted the style as much as an opera as it was a music genre. Today it is more of a traditional performance art with efforts of revival in mainland China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan, and mostly sung in Mandarin.
Huangmei opera: Art form keeps its popularity among theatergoers with innovation
Originated as a form of rural folk song and dance in China's Hubei Province, Huangmei is one of the most famous types of opera in China. The art form has seen tremendous development after it was introduced to Anqing, Anhui Province more than a century ago. Our reporter Li Qiong takes us to a performance by a major troupe from Anqing.

黃梅四祖寺位於黃梅縣城西北15公里的雙峰山之中。黃梅四祖寺古稱幽居寺，原名正覺寺，又名雙峰寺，是中國佛教禪宗第四代祖師道信大師的道場。寺廟始建於唐武德七年（西元624年）距今已有1370年的歷史，是中國禪宗第一所寺院。明正德、萬曆、清同治年間多次重建，終毀於兵燹。現存毗盧塔、眾生塔、衣缽塔、靈潤橋、四祖殿、蕉雲閣及多方摩崖石刻。

I decided to film another hike, this time in and around Wuhan of all places. I have visited this city twice before the pandemic, and this past May I was finally able to enter the country again. I have always been fascinated with Wuhan's vibrance and history, and now I've been able to explore the Chinese countryside and document it in my style for the first time.

Anqing (安庆), known as the cradle of Peking Opera (京剧) and Huangmei Opera (黄梅戏), is a city located on the north bank of the Yangtze River (长江) in southwestern Anhui Province, China. Situated at a crossing place on the Yangtze, it commands the narrow section of the floodplain between the Dabie Mountains (大别山) to the north and the Huang Mountains (黄山) on the south bank, at the west end of the lower Yangtze Plain (长江平原).

The trip takes me one month and 2000 kms to search for the ancient villages in China.
Tangmo Village is an administrative village under the jurisdiction of Qiankou Town, Huizhou District, Huangshan City, Anhui Province. It is a traditional Chinese village located at the intersection of Huihang and Hetonghuang Expressways. The village covers an area of 4 square kilometers.
Tangmo Village is supported by the Lion Mountain, and the Tangan River passes through the village. There are nearly 100 Huizhou buildings, such as residential houses, ancestral halls, shops, and oil workshops, on the water streets on both sides of the river, exuding the splendid history of ancient Huizhou. The beauty of the light and the accumulated profound connotation of Huizhou culture. The water mouth of Tangmo Village uses bridges and weirs as gates, pavilions, temples, and squares as town objects, and ancient trees, flowers and plants as the background. It has both water mouth and gardens, forming a unique and representative water mouth garden in ancient Huizhou. -Tangan Garden. Small bridges, flowing water, and people's houses are like a fresh and bright landscape of village houses. The main attractions of Tangmo Village are Tangan Garden, Shadi Pavilion, Gaoyang Bridge, etc., and the traditional national intangible cultural heritage drama-Huangmei Opera and traditional art-Huizhou Three Sculptures are circulating.
唐模村，安徽省黄山市徽州区潜口镇下辖行政村，中国传统村落，位于徽杭与合铜黄高速公路的交汇点上，村域面积4平方千米。
唐模村以狮子山为支撑点，檀干溪穿村而过，沿溪两岸的水街分布着近百幢徽派建筑，民居、祠堂、店铺、油坊等，散发着古徽州悠久历史的灿烂之光及积淀的深厚徽文化内涵之美。唐模村水口以桥、堰作为关锁，以亭、庙、坊作为镇物，以古树、花草作为背景，既有水口，又有园林，形成了古徽州独特的具有代表性的水口园林——檀干园。小桥、流水、人家，似一幅清新明丽的村居山水图。唐模村主要景点有檀干园、沙堤亭、高阳桥等，流传着国家级非物质文化遗产传统戏剧——黄梅戏与传统美术——徽州三雕。
