「福田」一名的由來，有兩種說法，一種說法是源自宋代所題「湖山擁福，田地生輝」一詞；另一種說法是源自南宋光宗皇帝趙淳紹熙三年（1192 年），史書記載，上沙村始祖黃金堂的四子黃西為到松子嶺南麓建村，開荒造田，塊塊成格，故名為“幅田”，後人諧音為福田，意為“得 福於田」。 福田區歷史悠久，福田地域歷來為寶安（新安）縣地。 明朝時屬新安縣城歸城鄉去都，清時屬新安縣官富司轄地。 民國時期到解放初期，福田區屬寶安縣第二區沙頭鄉。 人民公社化後，今福田和羅湖地域大部分歸屬寶安縣附城公社。
1978年3月，從附城公社中拆分出了沙頭公社；4月，沙頭公社更名福田公社，下轄福田、上步、崗廈、皇崗、石廈、上沙、下沙、上 梅林和下梅林等。
1983年，上步區辦事處成立，管轄範圍東至紅嶺路、西至車公廟工業區、南至深圳河、北至筆架山二線關。 1985年改稱為上步管理區。
1990年1月，中華人民共和國民政部批准設立福田區，10月召開第一屆福田區人民代表大會第一次會議，同年11月上步管理區正式改為福田區人民政府。
上步區名稱來源可能是當時管轄範圍主要為原居民上埗村範圍（北至筆架山，南至深圳河，西至華富路，東至紅嶺南路）。 而上步區改名為福田區，坊間傳聞是因為上步區諧音「上不去」與當時特區建設政治氣氛不相稱，因此改為意頭好的名字。

There are two theories about the origin of the name Futian. One theory is derived from the phrase the lakes and mountains support blessings, and the fields are shining written in the Song Dynasty; the other theory comes from the third year of Emperor Guangzong of the Southern Song Dynasty Zhao Chun Shaoxi (1192) Years), historical records record that Huang Xi, the fourth son of Huang Huangtang, the founder of Shangsha Village, went to the southern foot of Songzi Ridge to build a village, reclaimed wasteland and cultivated fields, so it was named Futian. Later generations homophonically pronounced it as Futian, which means get Blessed in the fields. Futian District has a long history, and Futian area has always been the seat of Bao'an (Xin'an) County. In the Ming Dynasty, it belonged to Xin'an County and was the capital of urban and rural areas. In the Qing Dynasty, it was under the jurisdiction of Xin'an County Guanfu District. From the Republic of China to the early days of liberation, the Futian area belonged to Shatou Township, District 2, Baoan County. After the people's communes were established, most of today's Futian and Luohu areas belonged to Bao'an County Fucheng Commune.
In March 1978, Shatou Commune was split from the Fucheng Commune; in April, Shatou Commune was renamed Futian Commune, with jurisdiction over Futian, Shangbu, Gangxia, Huanggang, Shixia, Shangsha, Xiasha, Shangsha Merlin and Lower Merlin, etc.
In 1983, the Shangbu District Office was established, with its jurisdiction extending to Hongling Road in the east, Chegongmiao Industrial Zone in the west, Shenzhen River in the south, and Bijiashan Second Line Pass in the north. In 1985, it was renamed Shangbu Management Area.
In January 1990, the Ministry of Civil Affairs of the People's Republic of China approved the establishment of Futian District. In October, the first meeting of the First Futian District People's Congress was held. In November of the same year, the Shangbu Management Area was officially changed to the Futian District People's Government.
The name of Shangbu District may come from the fact that the jurisdiction at that time was mainly the area of the original residents of Shangbu Village [source request] (Beacon Hill to the north, Shenzhen River to the south, Huafu Road to the west, and Hongling South Road to the east). Shangbu District was renamed Futian District. Rumor has it that the homophonic pronunciation of Shangbugo in Shangbu District was not commensurate with the political atmosphere of the special zone construction at that time [source request], so it was changed to a more congenial name.

If you are planning to travel to Shenzhen from Hong Kong, you might want to try traveling by bus. As there are many step up points around Hong Kong which most will just drive straight to the Huanggang Port and not have in between stops. This service is 24hours so even if you want to travel after midnight it is still possible in both ways, going to Shenzhen or going back to Hong Kong.
Also its cheaper to travel also as it cost only $39HKD with Octopus, but if I was to take the MTR to Lok Ma Chau it would have costed $46.7HKD. Travel time is also much different as it took like 30minutes from Tsuen Wan to Huanggang Port, but if I would take the MTR to Lok Ma Chau it would take 71minutes.

Danjiangkou, Shiyan, Hubei, China
Danjiangkou City, located in south-central China, northwestern Hubei Province, the middle and upper reaches of the Han River, is under the jurisdiction of Shiyan City, Hubei Province, on behalf of the city. The city has a total area of 3,121 square kilometers, with 20 towns (offices and districts) under its jurisdiction. It is the core water source area of the South-North Water Diversion Project, the dam area (Danjiangkou Dam), and the location of Wudang Mountain, a World Heritage Site and a sacred site of Taoism in China. As of 00:00 on November 1, 2020, the resident population was 409,940.
Danjiangkou has a long history and was known in ancient times as Wudang County, Wudang County and Junzhou. Chairman Mao Zedong pointed to Danjiangkou on the map and proposed South-North Water Diversion. At the Chengdu meeting of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, it was decided to build the Danjiangkou Dam in 1958. The area is home to Wudang Mountain, a World Heritage Site and a national AAAA scenic spot, and Danjiangkou Reservoir, the source of the South-North Water Transfer and a national scenic spot.
In recent years, it has won the titles of China's excellent tourism city, national tourism card, national martial arts township, national class A open city, China's top 100 cities of happiness and wellbeing, China's top 10 development-oriented charming cities, top 100 beautiful Chinese cities, China's top 100 spring leisure cities, national garden cities, national health cities, national civilized cities, etc. For seven consecutive years from 2013 to 2019, it was awarded the Outstanding Achievement in County Economy in Hubei Province. In 2019, it was awarded China's Beautiful Mountain City and China's Top 100 Counties and Cities in County Tourism Competitiveness for 2 consecutive years from 2018 to 2019.[4 In 2020, the national Ministry of Ecology and Environment awarded the Green Water and Green Mountain is Golden Mountain practice innovation base. 2021 China's top 100 counties and cities in terms of overall competitiveness of county tourism, 19th place.
It is also known as China's Water Capital and Asian Tianchi. South-North Water Diversion Project, River Diversion Project, [7] and Hubei Water Diversion Project are located here.
