Wat Huai Mongkhon - Hua Hin Thailand
Wat Huai Mongkol is a must see temple in Hua Hin, originally called Wat Huai Khot. The temple is situated in Ban Huai Khot area, about 15 km from Hua Hin, Prachuap Khiri Khan.
Wat Huay Mongkol temple has the largest statue of the Buddhist monk called Luang Phor Thuad, who lived from 1582 to 1682. The holy monk is very well known in Southern Thailand for converting sea water to fresh water by foot.
The magnificent statue, which is about 11.5 meters height and 9.9 meters width, is set on a large mound. There is an equestrian monument for King Taksin the Great in front of the huge statue of the monk.
There are two huge wooden 3-headed elephants on each side of the statue. Local people like walking in circles 3 times underneath the elephant's belly wishing for good fortune.
In addition to the main statue and temple we explore the area around the temple to include a massive golden Buddha and fish pond. If you are in the area I would recommend a short visit to experience the local Thai culture. Enjoy the video!

City Description:
Karon is a resort town on the west coast of Thailand’s Phuket Island. It’s known for Karon Beach, a long stretch of white sand. Wat Suwan Khirikhet is a Buddhist temple guarded by 2 large snake statues. The temple complex hosts the twice-weekly Karon Temple Market, which sells sarongs, jewelry and street food. To the southeast, the towering white marble Big Buddha statue has panoramic views over the island.
Weather and Events:
Karon has a tropical monsoon climate and is hot year-round. The dry season (Dec–Mar) is a common time to visit. The rainy season (May–Oct) brings high humidity and heavy showers. During the Songkran Festival (Apr), locals celebrate Thai New Year by throwing water at each other. Loy Krathong (Nov) is a festival of lights where small banana-leaf boats topped with tiny candles are set afloat on the water.

Notably, the abbot of Wat Huay Mongkol has overseen the creation of a remarkable sculpture called Ai Khai. Crafted from a thousand-year-old giant Takhian wood, this 3-meter-tall masterpiece is revered as the world's largest Ai Khai sculpture. Positioned within the temple grounds, it serves as a focal point for Buddhist worship, inviting devotees to seek blessings and good fortune.

● “Wat Huay Mongkol” is a Buddhist temple and had the world's largest statue of Luang Pu Thuad. This temple was originally called Wat Huai Khot and is located in Ban Huai Khot community, Thap Tai Subdistrict, Hua Hin District, Prachuap Khiri Khan Province. Later, King Rama IX changed to new name from Huai Khot to Huai Mongkol. When King Rama IX came to this temple, and planned asphalt the road and selecting the name for the road “Huay Mongkol Road” to be same as the name of the temple.
● The world's largest statue of Luang Pu Thuad is cast in alloy with a width of 9.9 m., 11.5 meters Hight, on a 3-storey base, 70 meters wide and 70 meters long. Under the base of statue is a large hall for religious duties on important religious days as well.
● the abbot of Wat Huay Mongkol has led a sculpture of “Ai Khai” which is carved from a 1,000 year old giant Takhian wood with a height of 3 meters. It is regarded as a largest sculpture of “Ai Khai” in the world and set at the temple for Buddhist to worship and pray for good fortune as well.

Sukhumvit Road (Thai: ถนนสุขุมวิท, Thanon Sukhumwit), or Highway 3 (Thai: ทางหลวงแผ่นดินหมายเลข 3), is a major road in Thailand, and a major surface road of Bangkok and other cities. It follows a coastal route from Bangkok to Khlong Yai District, Trat border to Koh Kong, Cambodia.
Sukhumvit Road is named after the fifth chief of the Department of Highways, Phra Bisal Sukhumvit. It is one of the four major highways of Thailand, along with Phahonyothin Road (Highway 1), Mittraphap Road (Highway 2) and Phetkasem Road (Highway 4).
In the capital, Sukhumvit Road serves as a main commercial street, and this section is often congested, even at late evening or early morning hours. The Chalerm Mahanakhon Expressway has an exit at Soi 1. Ratchadaphisek Road crosses Sukhumvit at the Asok (Asoke) intersection.
The Sukhumvit area of Bangkok is easily accessible on the Skytrain Sukhumvit Line, which runs from Khu Khot in Lam Luk Ka, Pathum Thani through the Silom Line interchange at Siam up to Kheha in the centre of Samut Prakan. The MRT's Sukhumvit Station interchanges with the Skytrain at Asok.
The Sois are numbered from West to East, with odd numbers branching off North-East of Sukhumvit, and even numbers branching off South-West.
The area between Sukhumvit Soi 1 and Sukhumvit Soi 63 is popular as residential area for western expatriates. Japanese nationals tend to prefer from Soi 21 Asok intersection upwards, especially Soi Thong Lo. Rentals tend to be higher in the even numbered streets between Soi 8 and Soi 28 and in the odd numbered streets between Soi 15 and Soi 39. Soi 12 is occupied mainly by Indian expatriates, see Phahurat. The beginning of Soi 12 also has a Koreatown with several Korean restaurants and grocery stores. Koreatown is across the road from the Korean Cultural Centre.
The areas of Soi Cowboy (between Soi 21 Asok and Soi 23) and Nana Entertainment Plaza (Soi 4) are packed full of gogo bars and other places of prostitution. Restaurants of various levels of luxury exist all along the road, as well as hotels including famous names such as The Westin, JW Marriott, Sheraton, Ramada Hotel and Suites Bangkok Sukhumvit, and Four Points by Sheraton. Also several shopping malls are found, like the upscale The Emporium shopping center. It also harbours the eastern bus station at Soi 63 Ekkamai.
Nana (Thai: นานา, pronounced [nāːnāː]) is an intersection and neighbourhood at the beginning of Sukhumvit Road in Khlong Toei Subdistrict, Khlong Toei District, Bangkok. It's the four-way intersection of Sukhumvit Road, Soi Sukhumvit 3 (ซอยสุขุมวิท 3; Sukhumvit 3 Alley) or Soi Nana Nuea (ซอยนานาเหนือ; North Nana Alley) and Soi Sukhumvit 4 (ซอยสุขุมวิท 4; Sukhumvit 4 Alley) or Soi Nana (ซอยนานา), which toward the Thailand Tobacco Monopoly. It can be considered as an intersection next to Phloen Chit Intersection on Phloen Chit Road in the area of Lumphini Subdistrict, Pathum Wan District. Nana Plaza

Thai prostitution is divided into different sectors that serve different markets (the main criteria being the socioeconomic status of customers and the nationality of both customers and prostitutes).[
