Introduction to hiking in the Frau Holle Land
Since we are going to hike a bit more in the coming weeks and months I want to give you a short overview and introduction to the Region.
Till the first months of 2017 the region was known as the Naturpark Kaufunger Wald-Meißner but it was extended a bit and renamed as Geo-Naturpark Frau-Holle-Land, the area is mostly in North Eastern Hesse in the Werra-Meißner-Kreis destrict as well as the Area of Kaufungen and Helsa which are part of the Landkreis Kassel.
Kaufungen, Helsa and Hessisch Lichtenau can very easily be reached by using the Tram line 4 from Kassel other locations propably require you to switch to a Bus or at last other train. The public transportation in northern Hesse is organized by the NVV ( if you are planing to use them extensive check out their multiticket (or multiticket single if you travel alone but the group variant is more interesting if you have some company) its either valid 24 hours or a whole weekend (and ascending National holidays if there are any).
But not every place in the region is easily accessible by public transportation, especially at weekends the frequency of connections is often a hour or less and often there are only so called AST (Anschluss Sammel Taxi) available in later hours (you need to call them about 30 minutes before you need them and may need to pay extra, also if you have big stuff which does not fit into the trunk they might not transport you at all.)
I count at least 23 high quality hiking trails in the whole area which is an emense density.

Endlich Urlaub! Mein erster richtiger Urlaub in diesem Jahr und ab nach Bayern. :-) Nach einer schnellen Anreise, welche ca. 7 Std. gedauert hat, habe ich noch ein bisschen Zeit draußen verbracht.
