Hingoli district is an administrative district in the state of Maharashtra in India. Hingoli was actually known as the Nizams military base as it was bordered with Vidharbha.
In that era military troops, hospitals, veterinary hospital were in operation from Hingoli One Of theTwelve Jyotirlinga shrines, the Aundha Nagnath is located in Hingoli district about 25 km south-west from district headquarter.

It is a popular belief that the Nagesh Linga or the Jyotirlinga is the Adhya or the first Jyotirlinga on Earth. Devotees believe that by praying at this temple, one can protect themselves against all kinds of poisons.
Since this form of Shiva is Nagnath since he has a snake around his neck. This association with snakes has led to a belief that this Linga is very powerful and potent against negating the harmful effects of all poisons. Devotees have often sighted snakes with open hoods guarding the Linga.

( मराठी : औंढा नागनाथ मंदिर) भारत के महाराष्ट्र के हिंगोली जिले में औंधा नागनाथ में स्थित एक प्राचीन शिव मंदिर, एक ज्योतिर्लिंग है ।
इतिहास
============
औंधा नागनाथ (नागेश्वरम) भारत के महाराष्ट्र राज्य के हिंगोली जिले में एक मंदिर है, जो एक महत्वपूर्ण तीर्थ स्थान है। [3] [4] कहा जाता है कि वर्तमान मंदिर सेउना (यादव) राजवंश द्वारा बनाया गया था और यह 13वीं शताब्दी का है। [1] पहला मंदिर महाभारत के समय का माना जाता है और माना जाता है कि इसका निर्माण पांडवों में सबसे बड़े युधिष्ठिर ने किया था, जब उन्हें हस्तिनापुर से 14 साल के लिए निष्कासित कर दिया गया था । [2] यह कहा गया है कि औरंगज़ेब द्वारा बर्खास्त किए जाने से पहले मंदिर की इमारत सात मंजिला थी ।
संरचना

मंदिर का क्षेत्रफल 669.60 वर्ग मीटर (7200 वर्ग फीट) और ऊंचाई 18.29 मीटर (60 फीट) है [1] [6] मंदिर परिसर का कुल क्षेत्रफल लगभग 60,000 वर्ग फीट है। [2] इसके अलावा धार्मिक महत्व के साथ ही यह मंदिर अपनी सुंदर नक्काशी के लिए देखने लायक है। [2] वर्तमान मंदिर का आधार हेमाडपंती वास्तुकला में है, हालांकि इसके ऊपरी हिस्से की मरम्मत बाद की अवधि में की गई थी और पेशवा के शासन के दौरान प्रचलित शैली में है।
ज्योतिर्लिंग जमीनी स्तर के नीचे दो गहरे चरणों द्वारा पहुँचा हुआ है। औंधा नागनाथ परिसर में 12 ज्योतिर्लिंगों के लिए 12 छोटे मंदिर भी हैं। इसके अलावा परिसर में 108 मंदिर और 68 मंदिर हैं, जो सभी भगवान शिव के हैं। [7]
पुनर्निर्माण
=======
औरंगजेब की विजय के दौरान इस मंदिर को नष्ट कर दिया गया था। वर्तमान खड़े मंदिर का पुनर्निर्माण अहिल्याबाई होल्कर ने करवाया था ।
