Saputara is only hill station of Gujarat state of India. I believe it is only hill station but it has much more things to server visitors than other hill stations in India. Saputara hill station situated in Dang district, South Gujarat, on border of Maharastra state. It is almost 410 kms far from Ahmedabad.
Now, let me describe about our journey. We five friends Me, Ramesh, Dinesh, Raghav and Jitu started this trip from Ahmedabad at mid night of 20th September 2019. It took almost 6 hours to reach Sapurata via Baroda, Surat, Navsari, Waghai. We planned this trip for two days and it became one of most memorable trip for life.

Polo forest, also known as Vijaynagar forest is a dry mixed deciduous forest near Abhapur village in Vijaynagar Taluka, Sabarkantha district, Gujarat, India. It is located at the foothills of the Aravalli range and on the banks of perennial Harnav river, spread over the area of 400 sq. km.

Panoramic view of a lake within polo forest
After monsoon, between September and December, the forest becomes lush. There are more than 450 species of medicinal plants, around 275 of birds, 30 of mammals, and 32 of reptiles. There are bears, leopards, hyenas, water fowl, raptors, passerines, and flying squirrels. During winter, The forest attracts migratory birds during winter and wetland birds during monsoon.[2]
The forest also has the endangered Grey Hornbill and Brown-headed Barbet.
There was a town established by the Parihar kings of Idar around the Harnav river probably in the 10th century. It was conquered by the Rathores of Marwar in 15th century and came under Idar State. The town was located between two high hills, Kalaliyo and Mamrehchi, which blocks sunlight for the most days which probably resulted in the abandonment of the town.[1]
The name Polo is derived from pol which literally means a gate in Marwari language.[

After being stuck in quarantine (due to COVID-19) for more than 6 months, I decided to get out of the four walls and escape into nature. I found this wonderful place that was super close to Ahmedabad. Parvati Hills is a wonderful weekend getaway. It is awarded as the Largest Tabletop Land in India that spans over 521 acres. Who knew that escaping the busy city life of Ahmedabad would be as simple as driving outside Ahmedabad to Parvati Hills.
We found endless things to do here. Activities such as go karting, horse riding, jeep safari, adventure course, bird watching, star gazing, hiking, and a lot more.
