Augustiner-Chorherren-Stift Herzogenburg Teil 1
DWK-Film 2015 ; Musik: YT-CC.: Händel-Messias ; Oratorium v. G.F. Händel; 1741 komponiert und am 13. April 1742 in Dublin uraufgeführt.
Das Kloster wurde 1112 durch Ulrich I. von Passau in St. Georgen an der Traisen am Zusammenfluss der Traisen mit der Donau gegründet und 1244 wegen der häufigen Überschwemmungen 10 km die Traisen aufwärts nach Herzogenburg verlegt. Etwas südlich von Krems an der Donau ; Wachau.
Ab 1714 wurde das Stift Herzogenburg durch Jakob Prandtauer, Johann Bernhard Fischer von Erlach und Joseph Munggenast
barockisiert. Kaiser Josef II. , der viele Klöster aufhob , wertete allerdings dieses Kloster so auf: die Chorherrenklöster Dürnstein und St. Andrä an der Traisen wurden mit ihren vielen Pfarren nach Herzogenburg inkorporiert, sodass das Stift materiell deutlich gestärkt aus den Josephinischen Reformen hervorging. Es wurde von Passau, in das Bistum St. Pölten übergeführt.
Der Umbau des Stiftes begann am 25. März 1714 mit Bauleitung Jakob Prandtauer. In einem von ihm eigenhändig geschriebenen Brief bringt Johann Bernhard Fischer von Erlach den Beweis, dass er persönlich den Festsaal entworfen hat.
Ab dem Jahr 2000 wurde zum 900 jährigen Jubiläum wurde das Stift neu renoviert, mit Mitteln aus den Steuergeldern Österreichs. Z.B. Der Innenbereich, so der Festsaal, die Chorkapelle, sowie die Stifts-Bibliothek einschließlich deren Buchbestand.
900-Jahr-Jubiläum: von 22. April bis 28. Oktober 2012 wurde das 900 jährige Bestehen des Stiftes durch zahlreiche Veranstaltungen und einer neu gestalteten Kunstsammlung gefeiert.

Dürnstein ist eine Stadt (medieval town) mit 840 Einwohnern (Stand 1. Jänner 2020) im Bezirk Krems-Land in Niederösterreich.
In Verbindung mit der landschaftlichen und architektonischen Schönheit der Wachau ist der Ort eines der bekanntesten touristischen Ziele in Österreich geworden.
Mitte des 12. Jahrhunderts wurde die Burg Dürnstein von den Kuenringern errichtet. Ein historischer unfreiwilliger Gast war Richard Löwenherz, der vom 21. Dezember 1192 bis zum 4. Februar 1193 auf der Burg Dürnstein gefangen gehalten wurde. Dies ist die erste Nennung des Ortsnamens Dürnstein. Nicht mehr festzustellen ist, ob der König in der Burg Dürnstein, im Tal oder auf einer nicht mehr existierenden Nebenburg gefangengehalten wurde. Am 1. September 1347 erfolgte die erste Erwähnung der Stadt Dürnstein und 1476 erhielt der Ort von Kaiser Friedrich III. das Recht, die Ansicht der Stadt als Wappen zu verwenden. 1410 wird das Augustiner-Chorherrenstift in Dürnstein gegründet. In den Jahren 1477 und 1485 wurde Dürnstein zweimal durch die Ungarn unter Matthias Corvinus erobert. 1551 verwüstete ein Brand die ganze Stadt. 1645 kam es zur Sprengung der Burg Dürnstein durch die Schweden unter General Torstenson am 13. September 1683 erhielt Kaiser Leopold I. in Dürnstein durch den jungen Grafen Auersperg die Nachricht von der Befreiung Wiens von den Türken. 1788 wird das Stift Dürnstein von Kaiser Josef II. aufgehoben und dem Augustiner-Chorherrenstift Herzogenburg inkorporiert. Infolge der Säkularisation wurde Loiben 1803 Staatsherrschaft, was die Herrschaft des Klosters Tegernsee beendete. Am 11. November 1805 ereignete sich die Schlacht bei Loiben-Dürnstein, die noch am gleichen Tag endete und den Ort mit in die Napoleonischen Kriege verwickelte. 1811 wurde Loiben an Graf Alois Geniceo für 158.400 Gulden versteigert. 1902 brachte die Eröffnung der Dampfschiffstation an der Donau einen wirtschaftlichen Aufschwung für den Ort.

Dürnstein Castle Wachau Austria 10
Dürnstein is a small town on the Danube river in the Krems-Land district, in the Austrian state of Lower Austria. It is one of the most visited tourist destinations in the Wachau region and also a well-known wine growing area. The municipality consists of the Katastralgemeinden Dürnstein, Oberloiben and Unterloiben. The town gained its name from the medieval castle which overlooked it. The castle was called Duerrstein or Dürrstein, from the German duerr/dürr meaning dry and Stein, stone. The castle was dry because it was situated on a rocky hill, high above the damp conditions of the Danube at the base of the hill, and it was built of stone. Dürnstein Castle was first mentioned in 1192, when, in the castle above the town, King Richard I Lionheart of England was held captive by Duke Leopold V of Austria after their dispute during the Third Crusade. Richard had personally offended Leopold by casting down his standard from the walls at the Battle of Acre, and the duke suspected that King Richard ordered the murder of his cousin Conrad of Montferrat in Jerusalem. In consequence Pope Celestine III excommunicated Leopold for capturing a fellow crusader. The duke finally gave the custody of Richard to Emperor Henry VI, who imprisoned Richard at Trifels Castle. Dürnstein Castle was almost completely destroyed by the troops of the Swedish Empire under Field Marshal Lennart Torstenson in 1645.
Dürnstein Abbey (Stift Dürnstein) was established in 1410 by Canons Regular from Třeboň and from 1710 rebuilt in a Baroque style according to plans by Joseph Munggenast, Jakob Prandtauer and Matthias Steinl. The monastery was dissolved by order of Emperor Joseph II in 1788 and fell to the Herzogenburg Priory. During the War of the Third Coalition the Battle of Dürenstein was fought nearby on November 11, 1805.
