Argentina Vacation Travel Video Guide

Travel video about destination Argentina.
Argentina is the second largest country in South America and a captivating land of tango, adventure and breathtaking nature.Buenos Aires is the capital of Argentina and the most European city in South America with buildings that are reminiscent of bygone times. The mighty Plaza De Mayo is the historic heart of the city, along with the presidential palace, the Casa Rosada and the Catedral Metropolitana. Today the tango is performed in each corner of the city and in the nineteenth century poor immigrants from Italy and Spain settled in Buenos Aires. This explains the fiery temperament and deep melancholy that is expressed by the dances and is evident with each flick of the leg. In what was once the red light district with its whore houses of colourful corrugated iron taken from numerous ship wrecks, the tango was born. We visit an estanzia, a feudal residence of the beef barons who once settled on the endless plains of the pampas and who built their farmhouses according to the rustic designs of the nobility. From Salta Station we begin a fascinating train journey on the Tren A Las Nubes, the “train into the clouds,.which will climb to more than three thousand metres above sea level along one of the highest railroads in the world. The Los Glaciares National Park is a mixture of lakes, glaciers, mountains and untouched wilderness yet despite the harsh climate the local vegetation captivates due to its diversity. Our journey comes to an end. From north to south, through cities and pampas to glaciers and mountains, Argentina is a dream destination come true!

Salta Travel Guide - Argentina Moments of Charm

Salta Travel Guide - Argentina Moments of Charm

Salta is a province of Argentina. The western part of the province is in the Andean Northwest region, the eastern part is in the Chaco region. Also Salta is the capital of the Salta province in Argentina. It is situated in the Lerma Valley, 1,152 metres (3,780 ft) above sea level, at the foothills of the Andes mountains.

Nicknamed Salta la Linda (Salta the beautiful), it has become a major tourist destination due to its old, colonial architecture, tourism friendliness, excellent weather and natural scenery of the valleys westward. Attractions in the city proper include the 18th century Cabildo, the neo-classical style Cathedral, and the 9 de julio central square along with San Bernardo hill and its surroundings. The city's museums exhibit a wide range of artifacts and art work from the native civilizations that flourished in the area (Salta is located in the southernmost region of what was the Inca empire, belonging to the Collasuyu, one of the four areas of the empire until the Spanish conquest), as well as from the 16th century Spanish conquest and the colonial and post-colonial periods. Salta used to be the starting point of the Train to the Clouds (Tren a las nubes), and on the way to red-soiled Cafayate, as well as to other nearby tourist destinations.

The Martín Miguel de Güemes Airport, 6 kilometres (3.7 miles) 6 kilometres southwest of the city, has regular domestic flights to Buenos Aires, Tucumán, Jujuy, Córdoba, Puerto Iguazú; and international flights to Asunción, Rio de Janeiro, Iquique, Lima and Santa Cruz de la Sierra.

Salta was founded on April 16, 1582 by the Spanish conquistador Hernando de Lerma, who intended the settlement to be an outpost between Lima, Peru and Buenos Aires. The origin of the name Salta is a matter of conjecture, with several theories being advanced to explain it.

The city centre features a number of buildings dating back to the 18th and 19th and early 20th centuries. Clockwise around the Ninth of July Square are the neoclassical Cathedral Shrine, the French style Museum of Contemporary Art, the Cabildo (in former times, the city's town hall, nowadays a historical museum) and the neoclassical Museum of High Mountain Archaeology, which houses artifacts from the Inca civilization, including the mummies of three Inca children. The Plaza is almost completely surrounded by a gallery.

Within walking distance of the 9th July Square are the Saint Francis Church and the city's three pedestrian streets: Alberdi, Florida and Caseros. The three blocks in Balcarce street closest to the train station are now the centre of night life in Salta, with restaurants, pubs and cafés on both sidewalks and concerts every night. Rising in the east is San Bernardo Hill. Its summit, from which visitors can get a view of the city and the entire valley, can be reached by car, cable car or stairway.

Salta is probably the most Spanish city in Argentina by physical appearance: so much so that tourists visiting from Spain often find a strong resemblance between Salta and Andalucian cities. The local culture, however, is a blend of Spanish and gaucho (mestizo, criollo, both indigenous and non-indigenous) traditions, lending the city a distinctive identity, somewhat different from the more European-like metropolises to the south.

Colombia, a country which many only know because of it’s violent past, has been on my list since I went to South America for my first long-term trip in 2012. 6 Years later and with 5 weeks to spend it was finally time to properly explore my country number 9 on the continent.

For the first part of the trip I’ll be traveling with my mate David to the historical city of Cartagena, some picturesque Carribean islands and to the city of Medellin where we get to learn about the violent past and the transformation of the country. After a few days in the capital Bogota I’ll be joined by my good friend Stefan to learn salsa and take on some outdoor adventures in Cali before heading up to Santa Marta where we checkout the most beautiful beaches, float down rivers and hike through the mountains.

356-362 | Made it to the END OF THE WORLD!! EL FIN DEL MUNDO - USHUAIA!!! (Patagonia Travel VLOG)

7-13 December 2019 - Ushuaia | 356-362

20191207 - Punta Arenas
Day 107- We wake up in the capital city of Chile’s Antarctic and southernmost region of Magallanes - Punta Arenas!! Today we are exploring the city and checking out its main sites! First top is Plaza Muñoz Gamero which is where the heart and foundations of the city lie. It wouldn’t be a Spanish colony without a Plaza de Armas! ⚔️

20191208 - Isle de Magdalena
Day 108: This morning we head out to Magdalena Island to visit the locals this area - the Magellanic Penguins!???????? Just a short 35km from town, we catch the morning tour and leave at 7:30am on a 1.5hr catamaran ride to the island. ???? This island was made a national monument in 1982 which signified its importance for penguin conservation, and is one of the few places you get to walk around their natural environment and have a close-up experience of penguins in the wild!

20191109 - Punta Arenas to Ushuai
Day 109: This morning we leave the city of Punta Arenas, and head out of Chile and back into Argentina to Usuai! El fin del mundo! ???????? We hop on our 10hr bus at 10am and head south east across the border back into Argentina! These really racking up the Chilean and Argentinian stamps on my new passport! ???????????????? We cross the sea into the region of Tierra del Fuego on a barge ship and arrive to our last destination in Patagonia - Ushuaia! Nearly 9pm it was still so bright you’d think it was 5pm! This is the furthest south of the world I will see at this point in my life and super excited for the activities coming up! ????

20191210 - Ushuaia
Day 110: Today we head off on a catamaran and cruise towards one of the most iconic lighthouses in the world and symbol of Ushuaia - Fero del fin del mundo! ???? We board the catamaran on our 4pm tour through the waters of Ushuai and arrive at the iconic lighthouse, named Les Eclaireurs Lighthouse. This entire area and landscape used to be covered by ancient glaciers from the last ice age, 10,000-25,000 years ago, with heights even covering the peaks of the mountains 1200m high!! It is these glaciers that shaped the Tierra del Fuego we see today! ????????????

20191211 - Tierra del Fuego
Day 111: Today we explore the sites around Ushuaia and hike through Tierra del Fiego National Park!???????? We also hop on board el Tren del fin del Mundo, an old steam locomotive built. It was like you were on a scene from Harry Potter! ????????
▪️
We start our day at 9am where we board a short shuttle and head west out of the city towards the park. We enter the park on-board El Tren del find del mundo. An expensive (2,100ARS $52AUD) for a 1.5hr scenic ride through the open landscapes, we learn about the history of Ushuaia it’s beginnings. Sydney and Ushuaia actually have a lot in common as both started off as penal colonies. Established in 1883 - 1947, the prison was where the most dangerous convicted criminals were sent to serve their time, living through the harsh, barren landscapes and climates of Ushuaia. ????????‍????????????‍???? At the beginning of our hike we stumble upon el Correo del fin del Mundo (another claim to fame!) and it is in this little post office at the end of the world we get to have our passport stamped! If you are ever going here, bring your passport! Probably one of the coolest souvenirs I’ve collected! ???????? We go on a 7km hike around the lake and through the forests on the Costera trail. Tierra del Fiego translates into Land of Fire, a name given by the first explorers who saw fires on the shores of the native people. ????????????

20191212 - Ushuaia
Day 112: One of the things I wanted to do while in this city is to send postcards! It’s not everyday you get to send something from the end of the world, and I’ll admit it was my first time sending one. I also sent one to myself, to my future self. So that hopefully wherever I am in the next decade is somewhat where I envisioned myself to be. To keep on track and stay on track. Time doesn’t stand still for no one and one must keep moving on! ????????

20191213 - Ushuaia to Buenos Aires
Day 113: Our trip through Patagonia over the last month has finally come to an end and this morning we catch our 8:30am flight out of Ushuaia and into the big smoke - Buenas Aires! ✈️ Looking back at the last month of travel, here’s some fun facts of my travels through Patagonia:
???????? I have travelled down 3,491km by bus. Sydney to Perth is 3,933km. ????
????????All my hikes have totalled to 405km and 605,000 steps. It’s like walking from Sydney to Port Macquarie - the long way. ????????
???????? I climbed 2908 flights and elevated 8,724m. It’s like climbing the tallest building in the world, the Burj Khalifa - 18 times! Mt Everest is 8,848m ????
▪️
Tomorrow I fly north to Buenos Aires to begin my adventures in the northern part of Chile & Argentina! ????????????????

The Raúl Uranga – Carlos Sylvestre Begnis Subfluvial Tunnel, also known as the Uranga-Begnis tunnel, the Paraná-Santa Fe tunnel or until 2001 as the Hernando Arias Saavedra Subfluvial Tunnel, is an underground-subfluvial corridor built in Argentina under the bed of the Paraná River, between the provinces of Santa Fe and Entre Ríos. It was designed to communicate with the capitals of both provinces (Santa Fe de la Veracruz and the city of Paraná), located opposite each other on the banks of the aforementioned river. This tunnel, in addition to fulfilling the function of connecting the road traffic networks of both provinces, constituted the first effective link of communication between the Argentine Mesopotamia and the rest of the country, since its construction works began in the year 1962. and were effectively inaugurated in 1969. The construction of this viaduct was the responsibility of the German company Hochtief AG, while the plans were the work of the Argentine company SAILAV S.A.
The tunnel structure is 2,397 m long, to which the access ramps and convergence paths are added to give a total of about 3,497 m. It is built from 64 × 10.8 m cylindrical segments, coupled together and buried in the silty bottom of the river. At its deepest point, the roof of the tunnel is about 32 meters below the surface of the river. The air flow is regulated by a forced ventilation system; lighting automatically adjusts to outside conditions.

DESCUBRÍ las Aventuras de MAGALLANES en su Periplo por la PATAGONIA | PUERTO SAN JULIÁN | SANTA CRUZ

Hola, soy Juan Parengo.

Bikepacking the Windiest Place on Earth? (The Journey North Ep. 5) Tierra Del Fuego

I encountered some of craziest winds of my trip making progress near impossible. The winds in this area circle around the bottom of the earth without interruption, that is until they meet any poor person stupid enough to be cycling down there.
Thanks for Watching!
