Trier in 5 minutes ???????? Trier is the oldest city in Germany

Trier, the oldest city in Germany. Founded more than 2000 years ago, Trier was even once the capital of the Roman Empire. The city is famous for Porta Nigra, Roman bathhouses and for its location along the Moselle River. Ready for a cool weekend trip?

Porta Nigra is the landmark of Trier. It has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1986. If you take the stairs, you'll get a panoramic view of the city of Trier. From here you can walk directly to the main market square in the old town.

Nearby is Trier Cathedral. It is the oldest church in Germany. It combines architectural styles from all epochs since the ancient world. The most important relic in the cathedral is the Holy Rock.

Passing the Palais, you come to the Imperial Baths. Today, they are only ruins left. Further out, you can look over the vineyards and the Moselle from the Petrisberg.

If you're in Trier for more than a day, it's definitely worth taking a trip into the surrounding countryside. We stayed for 2 days at the Landal Hochwald holiday park (ad) for a few relaxing days. Just let your soul relax. Hiking, biking, mini golf and delicious food. Click here for the offers from the holiday park: *

Lok Sammlung Collection Falkenberg 2019 09 07

Translation see down.

The first time we see a part of this collection in 1990 in Basdorf/Wandlitz near Berlin. A film is here on YouTube. Also in Jüterbog we see the collection.
My feelings here are divided: It's a shame what happened here with the lomocotivs, but if Mr. Falz had not saved the machines from the junk press, these once beautiful steam locomotives would have disappeared. According to his flyer, he wants to work up valuable machines with railway friends. Volunteers are still being searched for. Personally, although I am an optimist, I do not believe in it. Sorry.
You can visit the collection two times the year at the weekend. When you made a call you can visit it for your own, but have to pay for it.
At the end of the german words I give some declaration to the stupid rules about music on YT in germany.

Aviation Museums of the World - Istanbul Air Museum of the Turkish Air Force - Travel Guide

One of only two aviation museums I'm aware of within Turkiye, this one outside the old Ataturk airport also happens to be the largest.

With a huge collection of jets from the 1950's and 1960's to examples of aircraft such as the McDonnell Douglas F 4E Phantom II and General Dynamics F 16 Fighting Falcon that still serve today, the air museum displays an impressive collection dedicated to the Turkish Air Force!

Let's take a look around this easy to reach museum, with a tour of the aircraft in English!

Hidden Soviet Relics Discovered - Abandoned Vehicles | Urbex

With the collapse of communism, many things have changed. The fallen empire left behind a scene of devastation in huge parts of the world. What remains from the socialist era today, are ruins that tell the history of the past. These include the final resting places of precious artifacts. In the fourth episode of our Hungary road trip series, we're exploring maybe the most unique vehicle graveyards of the country. From legendary jet fighters to partially one-hundred-year-old steam engines, we discovered true achievements from Soviet years. Also this time, we had to be especially careful since many adventurers before us have been caught here in the past. Well-prepared, we started two infiltrations of the most impressive vehicle graveyards we have experienced so far! #urbex #abandonedplaces #bwturbex

Dornier Aviation and Aerospace Museum, Friedrichshafen, Germany | TransportMuseums.com

This museum only have about 15 airplanes but they are REALLY UNIQUE planes made by the Dornier company. The Dornier Do 31 E1 is the only in the world, and the largest VTOL (Vertical Take-Off and Landing) jet plane ever made. Here is a video of it (and some of the other planes present in 2015) and some information under the video if you are interested: Dornier Do 31- world’s LARGEST vertical-takeoff aircraft (VTOL) & Dornier Museum by AirClips:

The following planes were on display in June 2018:

-Dornier Do X ‘Wal’ N25 (replica) used by Roald Amundsen
-Dornier Merkur (Replica) D-1103 Luft Hansa Silberfuchs
-Dornier Do 27 STOL
-Dornier Do 28 A STOL
-Dornier Do 28 D STOL Skyservant
-Dornier Do 31 E1
-Dornier Do 228-100 Polar
-Dornier Do 228-200
-Dornier Do 328
-Fiat G.91 “Gina”
-Dassault / Dornier Alpha Jet
-Breguet BR.1150 Atlantic KWS
-Bell Huey helicopter, built under license in Germany by Dornier
-NOT a plane: La Salle (Cadillac), 1930

They also exhibit a helicopter, several drones and satellites.

This is a must visit if you are in southern Germany, and there is even one more museum in Friedrichshafen that you also must see, the Zeppelin Museum:

Also, they have a nice restaurant in the museum!

Hunsrück Day 2: Climbing the Erbeskopf

Day 2 of our 4 day tour in the Hunsrück in South West Germany, meant climbing the highest peak in the region: The Erbeskopf at 812 meter. We started off in Kell am See and took a nice cycle route along an old railroad track towards Hermeskeil. A long gentle incline through a quiet forrest road took us to the top, where stunning views awaited us.
Hope you like it and as always, enjoy your rides and stay safe out there !
