Visit Hargeisa Somaliland and people will go out of their way to tell you how safe and peaceful their breakaway country is, and my experience changing money in Hargeisa is proof that they are right. Meet Mohammed, who was kind enough to show me his money changing business and let me hold hundreds of dollars in local money. He even works at night, in the dark without protection. I moved to Africa
Somaliland is a place that means a lot to me, and to be able to express my feelings for this place in a format that may inspire some brothers and sisters to move back is a blessing. I genuinely believe that Somaliland is on the brink of a revolution, with the influx of diaspora carrying knowledge collected from all around the world and the passion we all have to see our country prosper. I don't see a world where, in 5-10 years, we aren't prospering and succeeding in every measurable form. So, to all my Somali brothers and sisters, you can either be on the front lines of the Somaliland revolution, helping grow our country while reaping the rewards, or you can come when everyone else is flocking to Somaliland for what the brave have already formed it into.
