10 Best Places to Visit in China - Travel Video

Check out all the places seen in this video:

China, the gateway to East Asia, is a fascinating country. It is an ancient civilization that gave the world Peking Man, gunpowder and noodles. Visitors making their first trip to China usually stick to the larger cities. More experienced visitors to the Middle Kingdom will strike out in other directions, where traveling may be a bit more frustrating because of the language barrier, but most definitely doable for independent travelers. Here’s a look at the best places to visit in China:

Shanghai, on China’s central coast, is the country's biggest city and a global financial hub. Its heart is the Bund, a famed waterfront promenade lined with colonial-era buildings. Across the Huangpu River rises the Pudong district’s futuristic skyline, including 632m Shanghai Tower and the Oriental Pearl TV Tower, with distinctive pink spheres. Top 10 Places to Visit in Shanghai - China Travel Documentary

Shanghai is one of the most fascinating cities in China, and in this video I share my personal top 10 places to visit in this amazing city.

Few cities in the world evoke so much imagination as the largest city in China. Rich and glamorous on one corner, rough around the edges on another, Shanghai is truly one of the most fascinating places in the country. Located in the East of China, Shanghai should be high on any traveler’s list.

The video starts off on the Bund, a spectacular waterfront promenade located right in the center of the city. It provides a stunning contrast between historic colonial architecture and the awe-inspiring modern skyline of Pudong on the other side of the Huangpu river. Here, you can get some of the best views across the city. After Pudong, I take you to Nanjing street for some shopping, followed by a moment of calm in the rebuilt Jing’An Temple.

After walking through the People’s (central) park where I encounter a ‘marriage market’, we search for pockets of old Shanghai. These authentic neighborhoods are fast disappearing, as development of apartment towers and shopping malls takes over.

With enough time, it’s possible to plan a few day trips out of Shanghai. Some of my favorite ones are Suzhou, Zhujiajiao, and the impressive Yangshan Port (Shanghai's main container terminal, or harbor). Back in the city, we travel to the outskirts to visit a ‘bicycle graveyard’ and visit a few trade shows. Probably not your regular 'tourist attraction', but interesting places for those interested in doing business in China. The video finishes at the former Expo site, taking you back to one of the largest events ever held in China.

*** The footage in this video was made in the years before the global pandemic. I am currently not traveling, like most people in the world. ***

Although Suzhou and Hangzhou aren’t typically first-choice destinations in China, they have their own special charms that make them worth visiting from the famous West Lake to its beautifully preserved ancient towns.

------------------------------------------------------
SUZHOU

00:27 - Jinxi Ancient Town
Known as the “Town of Bridges”, this town has an impressive 36 bridges connecting 16 lakes and 238 rivers. Now that's a lot of bridges! If you’re looking to visit an ancient town unpolluted by commercialism, this is it.

00:45 - Suzhou Biking Tour
Enjoy a fun day of cycling through the streets of Suzhou and learning about the city's history! It’s almost like a “welcome to Suzhou” package that takes you to the best sights of the city. If you're lucky, you might even get to taste free samples along the way!

00:57 - Tiger Hill
One of Suzhou’s most famous attractions. The Tiger Hill pagoda leans at a 4° angle, giving it its reputation as China’s answer to the Leaning Tower of Pisa. So why travel all the way to the Leaning Tower of Pisa when you can just visit Tiger Hill? ????

01:12 - Lingering Garden
Originally a classical private garden, it is one of the four most famous gardens in China. The beauty of this garden will sure to leave you lingering around (See what I did there)!

01:21 - Suzhou Center Mall
The largest mall in the city. Of course, no trip is ever complete without some... SHOPPING! ????????

01:38 - Guanqian Street
Besides Suzhou's beautiful gardens and ancient towns, there’s also so much shopping and eating to do here. Venture along this 150-year-old street that has both traditional and modern elements to it!

HANGZHOU

Soak in the sights at Mount Mogan, or Moganshan, and even visit the vacation home of Mao Zedong! Don’t worry about melting under the heat — the lush bamboos provide ample shade and give off an air of tranquillity. ☁️

02:26 - Anchang Ancient Town
Visit this ancient town where time has seemed to have stopped! Take a stroll along the ancient streets and soak in its charm and history.

02:43 - Yangshan Stone Quarry
A park filled with rock formations and you can find 88 carvings of buddhas on the stone around this quarry! It’s located in the city but feels like you’re on the set of a badass action movie.

02:51 - Xixi National Wetland Park
Switch out city views for some lush forests and beautiful waterscapes. Explore this scenic urban wetland which is said to be over 1,800 years old!

03:04 - Wuzhen Water Town Day Tour
Explore this picturesque town sometimes known as the Venice of the East! From dreamy lavender fields to traditional crafts on display, this place is an Instagrammer’s dream.

03:29 - West Lake

Guangzhou China. Modern Bustling City in Southern China

Lets take a look at Guangzhou - a city of 15 million people famous for its Canton Fair. China is very modern and probably not what you might expect.

Amazing Things to Do in Hangzhou & Top Hangzhou Attractions

Discover with us the most amazing things to do in Hangzhou & Top Hangzhou Attractions. This modern vibrant city, which is situated only an hour away from Shanghai by train, is not only an important economic, political, and cultural center of China but also one of the Seven Ancient Capital Cities, with a rich history of about 2,500 years. Here you can discover a secret of Chinese silk or visit the birthplace of the most famous green tea in China.
The must-visit place in Hangzhou is West Lake – the symbol of the city. This 6,5 square kilometers area has been an inspiration for many famous poets and artists, and it is regarded as one of the most beautiful sights in China. There you can find traditional temples, ancient pagodas, pavilions, splendid gardens, and ornamental trees, as well as causeways and artificial islands. You can admire the lake not only on scenic walks but also on boat trips.
The town has become an important commercial center also thanks to the construction of an amazing 1,776-kilometer-long Grand Canal. The ancient river road was dug out in 486 BC, and it runs from Beijing in the north to Hangzhou in the south. It is the longest canal or artificial river in the world, and at the same time, a symbol of Chinese culture.
If you are a shopping lover, don't forget to visit ancient Hefang Street, a famous tourist attraction. The city has a rich history of Chinese silk culture and production, and it is one of the places where you can see or buy silk clothing and trinkets. Hangzhou silk is very soft, luxurious, and decorative. A perfect souvenir to take home.
Do not miss visiting gorgeous tea plantations. Hangzhou is also known as the Capital of Tea in China, and since ancient times, it has been a famous tea-production base. Dragon Well (Longjing) tea – the most famous tea in the Country - is being produced here. It is collected mostly by hand and ranked first among China's top 10 teas due to its high quality.
Approximately an hour's drive from the city is Wuzhen - one of the top six water towns in China. This charming place attracts many tourists with more than 1,000 years of history, restored Chinese architecture, various museums, and exhibitions, as well as its restaurants and souvenir shops. Be sure not to miss the unique gondola ride along the ancient canal and the magnificent night scenery in Wuzhen. You will certainly be blown away by the colorful illumination of the whole town.

Top 10 tourist attractions in China part10 | West Lake in Hangzhou travel video

Hangzhou is renowned as China's paradise on earth owing to its beautifully crafted landscape. West Lake was created after the Chinese love for garden-style parks for recreation. West Lake is a place of tranquility where urbanity becomes a silhouette on the northeast horizon and mountains near and far surround it on the other three sides. The occasional pagoda and Chinese-style arched bridge add atmosphere to the tree-lined walkways, verdant islands, and hills.

To admire the beauty of West Lake, visitors can leisurely bike around the lake, walk around the lake, or take a short cruise on the lake.More info :
