हमीरपुर जिला उत्तर प्रदेश राज्य के चित्रकूट धाम मण्डल का एक हिस्सा है। हमीरपुर शहर जिला का मुख्यालय है। इसमें चार तहसील हमीरपुर, मौदहा, राठ, सरीला और सात ब्लाक गोहाण्ड, कुरारा, मौदहा, मुस्करा , राठ, सरीला ,सुमेरपुर शामिल हैं। हमीरपुर जिला अक्षांश 25.7 9 13 डिग्री उत्तर और देशांतर 80.0088 डिग्री पूर्व के बीच है।
जिला हमीरपुर में सुजानपुर टीहरा अपना ऐतिहासिक स्थान है। इस नगर की स्थापना की नींव कांगड़ा नरेश घमंड चंद ने 1761-1773 ई. में रखी थी और इनके पौत्र महाराज संसार चंद द्वारा इस नगर को गरिमा प्रदान की। इसी शासन काल में सुजानुपर टीहरा होली उत्सव, व्रज भूमि की होली की प्राचीन संस्कृति आज भी जिंदा हैं।
1 सितंबर 1972 को सम्मिलित किए गए क्षेत्रों और जिलों के पुनर्निर्माण के परिणामस्वरूप, हमीरपुर और बरसर दो तहसीलों के साथ हमीरपुर का एक अलग जिले के रूप में गठन गया | 1980 में सुजानपुर टीहरा, नादौन और भोरंज उप तहसीलों का गठन किया गया ।

Sujanpur Tira is situated at a distance of 22kms from Hamirpur town and touches the Kangra border. The fort was built by Raja Abhay Chand of the Katoch dynasty of Kangra in 1758. Situated on the banks of Beas river, the fort also has a Barahdari Hall where hearings were held. The large compound of this fort is now used for Holi celebrations, a popular Hindu festival of colors, which is celebrated for 3 to 4 days.

Jogindernagar to Palampur by Train || Himachal Darshan ||
Beautiful train journey from Jogindernagar to Palampur. Awesome view of dhauladhar range, bridges, stations and Himalayan view.
This journey takes approx 1 hours. Fare from Jogindernagar to Palampur is just Rs. 10/-.
The Kangra Valley Railway lies in the sub-Himalayan region of Kangra Valley and covers a distance of 164 km from Pathankot, Punjab to Joginder Nagar in Himachal Pradesh, India. The highest point on this line is at Ahju station at an elevation of 1,290 meters (4,230 ft).
The railway line was planned in May 1926 and commissioned in 1929. The line has two tunnels, one of which is 250 ft and the other 1,000 ft in length. Trains on this narrow gauge line are pulled by small and less powerful engines than on a broad gauge main line, therefore steep ascents had to be avoided. But instead of expensively boring through the mountains on a straight way, a much longer right-of-way further south was chosen that allowed gentle slopes. From 1942 to 1954 there was no train service east of Nagrota.
When the Maharana Pratap Sagar was constructed, the line had to be diverted between Jawanwala Shahr and Guler into higher grounds along the eastern shore of the new reservoir. In 1973, the section between these two stations, along with Anur, Jagatpur and Mangwal stations was abandoned, and the new alignment with several new stations opened three years later. Indian Railways has identified Pathankot-Jogindernagar route to be converted into 1,676 mm (5 ft 6 in) broad gauge and to extend it to Mandi, and eventually to Ladakh via a new Bilaspur–Mandi–Leh line.

This time our journey goes to winch camp .Winch camp is a station of Haulage trolley situated at top of mountain. This haulage trolley (made 1926) runs between Joginder Nagar to Barot valley ( HImachal Pradesh )
Winch camp is situated at a height of 8000 ft from sea level . It is a very popular place among trekkers , tourists and nature lovers as it is top of the mountain and very beautiful place . Also it is a historic place as a mountain train system was built here at 1926 . This haulage trolley was built for Shanan power project , JoginderNagar by British engineer Col . B.C. Battey .
This trolley takes you from Jogindernagar to Barot from height of 4130 ft. to 8300 ft to Head gear , topmost station of haulage trolley , from there trolley goes down to Barot valley . It has four stations and only one station is operate-able currently ie it is in bad shape and rusting . this trolley can be used for tourism purpose but govt. is doing nothing for such a big attraction . If any news channel seeing it or any people can do anything for it , please save it from diminishing or we will lose such thing which has capability for becoming a national heritage site . Trek with a Himachal wala
Many people go to Shimla and Manali only . But there are many offbeat places in Himachal to be explored . Barot valley is about 155 KM from Manali and very beautiful place like Manali and Shimla . While coming from Patankot to Manali , Barot valley can be your destination between the journey to Manali .
Barot valley is more about nature rather than big malls and shops like Manali , Shimla and big hill stations . So Barot valley is best for nature lovers and trekkers .
