Today we are visiting the most famous village in the world, Hallstatt and showing what to see and do in the town in one day or actually in a few hours. This picturesque village is located in the Salzkammergut region in Upper Austria and is world wide recognised by its unique location on the shore of Hallstätter See and the foot of Dachstein Mountain.
Hallstatt has only about 750 inhabitants but on the peak of the tourism season, it gets about 10000 visitors a day, quite impressive! The town is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site and has the oldest salt mine in the world, dating back 7000 years!
The village does not disappoint and we can't wait to be back during winter to experience it in a whole different way.
