Making Jipijapa Panama Hats (Bécal Campeche México)

I’m Allison, the boss lady of TexMex Fun Stuff. Today you and I are going to visit the Panama Hat Capital of Mexico, Bécal, Campeche.

Here in this small town panama hats are called “Jipijapas”, pronounced hippie-hahpahs. They are sombreros which have been hand made here for generations.

Follow me as I climb down into caves and learn how the tradition of making these hats was born in Bécal, Campeche, México.

If you want to buy your very own panama hat / Jipijapa and form a connection to Bécal Campeche, follow this link to Etsy:

Thank you for watching this episode! I promise to continue exploring México for awesome handmade products for you.
