In the summer of 2018, my family and I visited China for the first time.
From the hustle and bustle of Shanghai, we caught a flight to head south to my dad's home town, Chaozhou. Situated in the province of Guangdong, close to Shantou, we visited the West Lake Park, Kaiyuan temple, Paifang Street in the old town and the beautiful Guangji Bridge. Whilst we were there, we were exposed to the Chaozhou dialect, food and of course, Chinese tea!

海门路建于清光绪二十年(1899年)，以英国牧师命名茂海路(Muirhead Road)。民国32年(1943年)以江苏海门改今名。海门路上有个下海寺，因疫情期间并未有开放。步行在这条路上蛮有感觉的，虽然马路大部分路段已被改造，但保留下来的依然有老上海的味道，比如那空中如织的电线。海门路和唐山路相接，我也顺道把它走完了。
Haimen Road was built in the 20th year of Guangxu in the Qing Dynasty (1899), named after Muirhead Road by a British pastor. In the 32nd year of the Republic of China (1943), the name was changed to Haimen, Jiangsu. There is a Xiahai Temple on Haimen Road, which was not opened during the epidemic. Walking on this road is quite sensational. Although most of the road has been remodeled, the taste of old Shanghai is still preserved, such as the air-woven wires in the air.
