De la artă modernă (Lentos, Landesgalerie), tehnologie (Ars Electronica Center), istorie și ecologie (Nordico), stomatologie, biologie, istorie militară, metalurgie, fiscalitate și pînă la viața de cowboy în Vestul Sălbatic, oferta muzeală a orașului este foarte diversă și fanii rememorării trecutului s-ar putea să fie tentați să-și caute o cazare și să-și prelungească sejurul aici. Deși nu-i clar ce-au căutat Old Shatterhand și John Wayne în Linz, cert e că numeroasele spații expoziționale și evenimente artistice din oraș au fost tot atîtea argumente pentru onoranta nominalizare de Capitală Culturală Europeană, în 2009
