Mosteiro de Leça do Balio | Matosinhos | Portugal
Na posse dos Hospitalários, o primitivo mosteiro recebeu mais ampliações e reformas que lhe deram feições de natureza militar em estilo românico, cujo elemento mais marcante foi a construção de uma sólida torre ameada. A época em que os hospitalários tomaram posse do couto terá sido riquíssima para o mosteiro, uma vez que a ele pertenciam inúmeras igrejas do actual concelho de Matosinhos. O mosteiro foi reedificado por D. Gualdim Paes de Marecos, em 1180 e dedicado a Santa Maria.
O actual templo, síntese do estilo românico e gótico, remonta a uma grande campanha construtiva iniciada pelo prior da Ordem, D. Frei Estevão Vasques Pimentel, entre 1330 e 1336, quando foram renovados ainda os edifícios monacais e o claustro, dos quais vários elementos chegaram até aos nossos dias.
Aqui foi celebrado o matrimónio do rei D. Fernando (1367-1383) com D. Leonor Teles. Posteriormente, no contexto da Crise de 1383-1385, ali esteve o Condestável Nuno Álvares Pereira, em 1385, no início da jornada que lhe deu a posse do Castelo de Neiva e de outras localidades na região.
Na sequência do triunfo liberal no país, o mosteiro de Leça do Balio assistiu à extinção das ordens religiosas (1834), perdendo os seus privilégios e direitos que a ordem ainda possuía sobre a freguesia, sendo integrada no concelho de Bouças (actual Matosinhos), em 1835.
Encontra-se classificado como Monumento Nacional por Decreto publicado em 23 de Junho de 1910.
Na década de 1930 foi efectuada uma obra de restauro de todo o monumento pela Direcção Geral dos Monumentos Históricos.
Em 1996, o mosteiro começou a ser palco de obras de beneficiação suportadas pela Unicer, ao abrigo da Lei do Mecenato.

Comecei o caminho no Padrão de Moreira entrando pelo parque junto á Etar da Maia.
Termina na Ponte da Pedra, passando pela Ponte dos Ronfos, por baixo da Via Norte, traseiras da Lionesa e tambem pela traseira do Mosteiro de Leça do Balio, passa a Ponte e parque das Varas e termina na Ponte da Pedra. Tem uma extensão de 8 km mais ou menos.

I started the path in the Moreira Pattern entering the park next to Etar da Maia.
It ends at the Pedra Bridge, passing the Bridge of Ronfos, below the Via Norte, back of The Lionesa and also at the back of the Monastery of Leça do Balio, passes the Bridge and park of the Sticks and ends at the Stone Bridge. It's about five miles long.

Matosinhos-Porto-Portugal
Matosinhos is a major port and fishing town, which is famed for its fish restaurants and glorious sandy beach. This beach (the Praia de Matosinhos) is the largest sandy beach close to Porto, and is adored by the residents of Porto, who flock here during the summer months.
Dominating the coastline of Matosinhos is the Leixões port, and though this is an eye-sore from the beach, it is both the heart and heritage of the town. From this harbour the fresh fish is sold in the bustling morning market, while at meal times the smell of grilled fish wafts out from the many outstanding seafood restaurants.
Most visitors come to Matosinhos purely for the beach, but it has more to offer including the Castelo do Queijo, the Parque da Cidade, the daily market and a selection of coastal walks. Matosinhos may not be the most scenic of towns along the Costa Verde coastline, but it is authentically Portuguese and an enjoyable destination for a day on the beach. This article will provide an introduction to Matosinhos.
Matosinhos is renowned for its seafood restaurants, which specialise in the fresh catch from the fishing harbour. The best restaurants are found just behind the fishing harbour, along the Rua Heróis de França. The fish are cooked on open-air grills and the smell of cooked fish fills the district. Also found within these streets are fish wholesalers, who stock a wide selection of fish, lobsters and shellfish.
She Changes (the anemone):
She Changes, known locally as anémona (the anemone), is a sculpture designed by artist Janet Echelman for the cities of Porto and Matosinhos, Northern Portugal. The installation consists of three steel poles, cables, a 20-ton steel ring and a net structure of varying densities and colors.The sculpture is Echelman's first permanent public art installation.
The sculpture is designed to reflect Porto's and Matosinhos's seafaring and industrial heritage.

De 14 a 17 de Novembro, em Lisboa, decorreu a Conferência TRA - Transport Research Arena. Esta conferência atraiu centenas de profissionais do sector dos transportes para mostrarem o seu trabalho no estudo de soluções para transportes. A CP - Comboios de Portugal, como parceira da conferência, realizou uma exposição, entre os dias 14 e 20 de Novembro, com um comboio inteiramente recuperado em Portugal. Saibam mais sobre a TRA em

CP2620
A série 2620, da CP, são a continuação da série de locomotivas 2600. Estas locomotivas foram desenhadas pela Alstom (na época, Alsthom), com o design “Nez Cassé”, que caracterizam as duas séries. Estas locomotivas são derivadas dos modelos originais da SNCF, BB 7200/7600, CC 6500, BB15000 e BB 22200. São uma das locomotivas mais conhecidas em Portugal e deram início ao serviço Alfa, nos anos 80. Após cerca de 10 anos fora de serviço, estão a ser recuperadas pela CP e colocadas, de novo, em serviço de passageiros.

Arco
As carruagens Arco foram compradas à Espanhola RENFE, num negócio de 1,6 milhões de Euros. Estas carruagens estão a ser restauradas nas oficinas de Guifões, Porto. A série de 33 carruagens entrará ao serviço da CP durante o ano de 2022.

As carruagens Arco têm um lugar para passageiros em cadeira de rodas. Têm painéis LED com informação aos passageiros e avisos sonoros. Estas carruagens ainda podem sofrer alterações de acessibilidade até entrarem ao serviço.
Corail CP
As carruagens Corail são, provavelmente, as carruagens mais icónicas da ferrovia, a nível mundial. Estas carruagens foram originalmente desenvolvidas para a SNCF, de forma a renovar a sua frota de carruagens. O nome Corail deriva da fusão das palavras Conforto e “Rail”. Em Portugal, estas carruagens iniciaram serviço em 1985, no serviço Alfa, da CP. Mais tarde, passaram a fazer serviços Intercidades.

Em Portugal, nenhuma carruagem Corail é acessível a passageiros em cadeira de rodas.
Corail VIP CP
Uma das carruagens Corail foi adaptada para servir de sala de reuniões. Esta carruagem pode circular com qualquer outro comboio puxado por uma locomotiva e está equipada com sala de reuniões, cabines isoladas, assentos de primeira classe e equipamento de catering.
Só está disponível por aluguer.

CP Schindler
Estas carruagens, construídas pela antiga fabricante Suíça Schindler, começaram a circular em Portugal na década de 1950. Recentemente, ficaram, novamente, famosas ao serem restauradas e colocadas novamente em circulação, depois de estarem durante décadas desactivadas.

As locomotivas e carruagens abandonadas na ferrovia portuguesa

Esta reportagem falava acerca de 20% dos comboios da CP estarem muito tempo parados à espera de manutenção, e também os passageiros enfrentavam os atrasos, supressão de comboios e das carruagens virem demasiado lotadas, como o Regional que faz serviço entre Lisboa e Tomar que vinha muito cheio, que tinha 3 carruagens em vez de 6, em que vinha cheio ao chegar à Gare do Oriente e fazer com que mais gente saia para dar espaço de respirar, na Linha de Sintra cerca de 14 comboios foram suprimidos na hora de ponta no 1º dia em que entravam novos horários em vigor.
Nas oficinas da EMEF do Entroncamento, encontravam cerca de 20 locomotivas Alston 2600 elétricas, estão paradas há 10 anos, que ficaram no abandono, que faziam serviço de passageiros e de carga, foram encostadas numa altura em que a CP comprou composições novas para carga, que seria totalmente absurdo ter muitas locomotivas paradas tanto tempo após muitas ordens de marcha.
A falta de comboios obriga Portugal alugar material a Espanha, 20 locomotivas a diesel custaram 7,4 milhões de euros, o Sud Expresso 2 milhões e 4 locomotivas a diesel e 2 locomotivas eléctricas 2,1 milhões de euros, que era no total de 11,5 milhões.
Num parque em Contumil, muitas carruagens e locomotivas se encontravam em abandona desde 2002, cerca de 25 carruagens que faziam serviço nos Intercidades estavam à espera de manutenção.
Nas oficinas da EMEF agora CP, centenas de trabalhadores da manuntenção dos comboios ficaram sem emprego devido à entrada da Troika, o Governo anunciou a contratação de 102 novos trabalhadores, que é efectivamente pouco, por exemplo, no Entroncamento há entre 450 a 480 trabalhadores, em que mais de metade estão muito dos 60 anos de idade, quer quercia é dar entrada de mão de obra mais nova.
Há poucas locomotivas a diesel e constantemente avariadas, o Governo anunciou a compra de 22 comboios regionais que têm o preço de quase 170 milhões de euros.

This report talked about 20% of CP trains being stopped for a long time waiting for maintenance, and also passengers faced delays, suppression of trains and carriages being overcrowded, such as the Regional service between Lisbon and Tomar that came very crowded, which had 3 carriages instead of 6, in which it was full when arriving at Gare do Oriente and making more people leave to make room for breathing, on the Sintra Line about 14 trains were suppressed at rush hour in the 1st day when new schedules came into effect.

How To Get To COVÃO DOS CONCHOS, SERRA DA ESTRELA, PORTUGAL
Covão dos Conchos is located at Serra da Estrela, the highest point of Portugal. It's a funnel built on the '50s to take the water out from Ribeira das Naves into Lagoa Comprida. Its shape and location defies imagination which takes people to visit it to and appreciate everything that Serra da Estrela has to offer.
The starting point is Lagoa Comprida. From there it's around 5km to get to Covão dos Conchos. This walk was made just to get to Covão dos Conchos. Along the way there are other points of interest worthy of a visit.
