A Day in Guatemala City | Some Things To Do
I took a short getaway to Guatemala! After my previous trip I was left wanting more, so I decided to go back and give it another shot. There is only so much one can do in so little time, but I will be back to continue the adventure!
Thanks to the lovely people I met along the way, I was able to try some great food, some strong alcohol, visit the beautiful Ciudad Cayalá, shop around at the famous Oakland Mall, and eat some more good food, haha.

Guatemala is crossed by a large chain of volcanoes. Between Mexico in the north and the neighbors to the south (Honduras & Salvador), there are no less than 300 volcanic structures, of which 37 are recognized as volcanoes. Three of them are active today!
Their imposing silhouettes follow us for a throughout part of the journey, overlooking the high plains, Lake Atitlan and the colonial cities. They offer a rich playground for lovers of hiking, mountain biking and all kinds of sporting activities.
Guatemala is considered the best destination for observing volcanic eruptions. The fumaroles, lava flows, even explosions create special memories.

No viajo tanto como quisiera pero estoy en eso. La respuesta corta es: trabajo mucho y ahorro. Por el momento YouTube no me paga lo suficiente para viajar. Y no tengo amistosos patrocinadores. Pero algunas veces los hoteles o agencias de turismo me invitan a viajar.

Pues no nos importó lo que la gente nos dijera y descubrimos que hay lugares asombrosos. Fuimos a Laguna del Hoyo (este fue uno de los destinos turísticos en jalapa que más nos impresionó) , Cascadas de Urlanta, Pino Dulce y probamos los deliciosos quesos de San Pedro Pinula.
Y si estás buscando un hotel en jalapa , te podemos recomendar el Hotel Puente Viejo en la cabecera de Jalapa.

Xela - Ein Hidden Gem in Guatemala?
Ursprünglich hatten wir Xela, was offiziell Quetzaltenango heißt, gar nicht auf dem Schirm. Doch vom Lake Atitlan sind es nur drei Stunden mit dem Chickenbus und auch wenn die meisten Backpacker den Weg weiter Richtung Westen scheuen, wollten wir der zweitgrößten Stadt Guatemalas einen Besuch abstatten. Oder vielleicht genau deswegen?!
Und unsere nicht vorhandenen Erwartungen wurden so dermaßen übertroffen: Die Stadt ist extrem schön, sehr authentisch und hat trotz der Größe einen entspannten Charakter. Zudem liegt der aktive Vulkan Santiaguito nicht weit entfernt. Und da wir bereits zwei der drei aktiven Vulkane in Guatemala gesehen haben, wollten wir den letzten natürlich auch noch mitnehmen! In diesem Video bekommst du ein paar Eindrücke aus Xela und von der Tour zum Santiaguito. Wir sind absolut verliebt in die Stadt!
