媽祖文化 ,[4K] Nanfang'ao, Nantian Temple, and the First Fishing Port. Mazu culture,

In the twelfth lunar month of 1950, country squire Jian Axiang initiated the preparations for the construction of the Mazu Temple and set up a founding committee to thank Mazu for protecting the fishermen of Nanfang'ao who survived at sea on March 23, 1946. The original intention was to go to Beigang Chaotian Temple to distribute incense, but later decided to invite the gods on their own. The wood for the statues was camphor wood from the mountains near Nanfang'ao. In Tongyue, 1952, the main hall was completed. [1]

In the past, the detour of Lize Jian Yong'an Palace once reached as far as Nanfang'ao, and it did not end until the Mazu Temple was built in Nanfang'ao[2]. In 1954, news reported that Mazu was born on the 23rd day of the third lunar month. Nanfang'ao happened to have a free time from the busy fishing industry. She performed all day long to entertain the gods and held open tables. The Highway Department buses would also work overtime to pick up and drop off passengers [3]. When patriotic lottery tickets are issued, some lottery fans will press the lottery numbers under the statue to pray secretly. However, it is suspected that the head and neck of the Mazu statue were almost broken by lottery fans who did not win the lottery[4]. The whole temple was completed on November 18, 1956[1][5]. The temple is located at No. 17, Jiangxia Road, Suao Town[5].

The back hall was built in 1990. It is divided into three floors but has a height of five floors. The layout is similar to the Mazu Temple in Quanzhou. The top floor is dedicated to Golden Mazu. All the statues, wood carvings and stone carvings are from mainland China, and are created by famous teachers from Zhangzhou, Quanzhou and Hui'an. Sculpture. On December 29, 1994, a ceremony was held for the completion and installation of the golden Mazu model.

In 1921 (the 10th year of Taisho), the Japanese government sent personnel to conduct an on-site investigation of the geographical environment of Nanfang'ao and selected a port site. The following year, the Japanese government allocated huge national funds and began to expropriate more than 10,000 square meters of private land and recruit workers. , started the port opening operation (Wu Liling, 1994: 23).
