A blizzard warning was issued for northwest and west-central Minnesota on Friday, February 18, as snow accumulations of up to one inch and wind gusts as high as 65 mph were expected.
The National Weather Service warned of strong winds potentially causing tree damage and wind chills causing frostbite. Highway 10 between Moorhead and Detroit Lakes was closed, according to Minnesota State Patrol (MSP) public information officer Sgt Jesse Grabow, as troopers attended to several crashes, pileups, and vehicles off the roads.
Footage released by the MSC shows vehicles driving through a thick expanse of white out conditions on Interstate 94 and strong winds between Clay and Wilkin counties, they said.
