A Quick Trip to Friedberg, Germany
In this video I share some of the highlights of my quick trip to Friedberg, Germany.
Friedberg is a small town in Germany 25-kilometers away from Frankfurt am Main.
I visited Friedberg during the middle of August and it was surprisingly quiet. There were hardly any tourists around and my girlfriend that I had the town to ourselves to explore.
After an hour there wasn't much else to do in Friedberg so we continued on with the rest of our Central European and German road trip.

Marburg, Germany in Snow 4K - A unique fairytale medieval town in Germany
Today's tour is in Marburg, Germany. Marburg is, quite literally, a fairy-tale town. The Brothers Grimm studied here from 1802-06, and were so enchanted by the town’s medieval flair, cobbled alleys, stunning architecture and lush countryside, that they weaved elements of this town in their famous fairy tales. Painter Otto Ubbelohde also drew inspiration from this town while working on his illustrations for the Grimm fairy tales. Marburg is an important stop in Germany’s Fairy Tale Route, and offers several faity-tale-themed tours to visitors.

Marienplatz (Mary's Square) is a central square in the city centre of Munich, Germany.
It has been the city's main square since 1158.
Marienplatz was named after the Mariensäule, a Marian column erected in its centre in 1638 to celebrate the end of Swedish occupation.
Today the Marienplatz is dominated by the New City Hall (Neues Rathaus) on the north side, and the Old City Hall (Altes Rathaus, a reconstructed council hall with a ballroom and tower) on the east side.
In the Middle Ages, markets and tournaments were held in this city square.
The Glockenspiel in the tower of the new city hall was inspired by these tournaments, and draws millions of tourists a year.
Furthermore, the pedestrian zone between Karlsplatz and Marienplatz is a crowded area with numerous shops and restaurants.
The Mariensäule is a Marian column located on the Marienplatz in Munich, Germany.
Mary is revered here as Patrona Bavariae.
It was erected in 1638 to celebrate the end of Swedish occupation during the Thirty Years' War, to be precise, following a respective vow by Duke Elector Maximilian I of Bavaria if the ducal residential cities of Munich and Landshut would be spared from war destruction.
The column is topped by a golden statue of the Virgin Mary standing on a crescent moon as the Queen of Heaven, created in 1590.
The figure was originally located in the Frauenkirche.
Mariensäule in Munich was the first column of this type built north of the Alps and inspired erecting other Marian columns in this part of Europe.
At each corner of the column's pedestal is a statue of a putto, created by Ferdinand Murmann.
The four putti are each depicted fighting a different beast, symbolizing the city's overcoming of adversities: war represented by the lion, pestilence by the cockatrice, hunger or famine by the dragon and heresy by the serpent.
Three weeks before Christmas the Christkindlmarkt opens at Marienplatz and other squares in the city, selling Christmas goods and food and drink.

The treetop walk is a 39 meters high and architectually unique tower. Walking up you can enjoy wonderful 360° views of the whole area of Gmunden, Traunsee and the mountains of Salzkammergut – plus: views of the impressive Traunstein right in front of you.

Baumwipfelpfad (Treetop Walk), Grünberg 2020
The Treetop Walk located in the Upper Austrian Salzkammergut is a great experience for the young and the old.
The walk goes through a wonderful forest with a length of 1,400 meters and the maximum height measures 21 meters.
The great architectural Observation Tower with its height of 39 meters is the absolute highlight of this walk and gives an incredible view of the Grünberg region.
It is possible to get up to the mountain with the Grünberg Cable Car from the valley station or make a lovely hike through the forest by foot.
